@HotStrange I'm pretty sure you probably couldn't tweak the parameters of instruments you don't own because once you open those, you're once again in demo mode.
It's fine to disagree. But of course, using an onscreen keyboard like Xequence AU Keys, quantized to a certain scale or mode, it is much easier to play without mistakes, of course it depends on what you're trying to play etc, but at least you will be in key. I only have basic keyboard playing skills but can immediately see, hear and feel how good Pianoteq is. Anyway, a full featured demo version is there for all to check for themselves, so nobody needs to trust anyone's opinion on this. Have you actually tried it yet and compared to pure piano? If you had I don't think we'd even be discussing this!
First could you state if you have specific relationships or are employee or subcontractor of the company that created PianoQ ,piano EQ ,pianioTeq whatever the name lol Nobody have to talk to me like that.
Secondly I not frustrated , I can buy it without any problem but I don’t want to buy it this is my right. Nothing to do with the quality of this app.
My only problem is my health not monney. How can you write what you write about me as you don’t know me ?
Has some people being very impolite against me , I prefer to stay zen and prefer to leave this Thread not to spoil it. I put flag on on post against me to inform the moderator.
No.
Not relevant. I don’t need to know you nor your life and don’t have to. We are debating based on ideas and arguments. Only ideas and arguments matters. And I think that’s a rule we all implicitly accept when writing on a forum.
Enough time spent on this for me.
I wish you a good day anyway !
@Paulo164 & @BerlinFx Please, both of you be cool now.
I think it’s highly inappropriate to wish a company failure because one disagrees with their pricing. Sometimes things are priced out of our range and that’s life. Many times these kinds of obstacles are the inspiration to go harder and get on your grind.
Its pretty cool now that a person with the smallest storage size iPad/iPhone can now have access to a vast library of high quality instruments that can fit in their pocket and that it works without an external midi controller. I’d buy an iOS device + Pianoteq > a dedicated ‘workstation’ everytime!
I hope PianoTeq has great success on iOS, and that this becomes a watershed moment for other desktop instrument plugin developers to seriously attempt the iOS platform with 1:1 products.
We are seriously blessed and it’s incredible the license transfers to desktop or vice versa! Great value!
Regarding the 'expressiveness' of a Piano (or any instrument).
Yes a better instrument will make you a better player as it responds better to the actual playing.
It's a bit like a singer who wants to hear them selves in the monitors/headphones while singing, It helps them perform better...
I find it more fun the play a super responsive instrument...
...sure it demands a bit more of the player but the results can be very rewarding.
Personally I 'play' better on the CME Xkey than a mediocre regular keyboard, it 'responds' to my input in a more pleasing way not being a 'regular' keyboard player. I love the per key pressure sensitivity for added expression and the velocity sensitivity with custom response-curves (for velocity and pressure) allow me to tailor it to fit my 'touch'.
As for the app in question and it's pricing...
...I see it more as a 'service for existing users'. New users more likely just seen as an added bonus
Regarding the question of whether you can tweak physical modeling parameters of demo presets (not only the packs you actually own) if you upgrade to the Standard license, I’m thrilled and surprised to report that you can! That makes Standard quite a compelling proposition.
Classical guitar is very good, nice achievement, but doesn’t have quite the right tone for me
Love the pricing. It encourages serious use; if your wallet feels you buying something, you’re naturally going to value it more and tend to use it instead of toss it away after a few gos. Also love the “f this iOS market crap, we know what our product is worth” mentality.
This is a beautiful sounding Piano. The amount of sound tweaking options makes it a very appealing app for sound design.
I’ll be investing in the Stage version to incorporate in my production. The sounds it’s giving me just strike a vibe in my heart that i only get from playing on real keys. And this is motivating for me as sound is very important to me when composing…it helps to steer me emotionally and structurally. Yep…i am excited 😆
I’ve been waiting for a piano on iOS that sounds this good. The fact that we get it on Desktop, iPad and iOS is a great deal imho. Thanks for doing this Modartt. I hope you have great success coming to this platform. 👊🏼™️ You’ve set a new Bar. First we got DaVinci Resolve and now we have Pianoteq. Good times ahead.
I finally have the Piano I’ve always wanted on my iPad.
Got Stage!! Here’s a few things that jumped out. You can demo STANDARD AND PRO versions once you unlock STAGE. But can’t activate your license without picking your included two packs first! I went with Steinway D and Classic Guitars 😁
Yep. I feel the same way.
Ravenscroft 275 now deleted.
For me, as I already have a great digital piano, the packs I am most interested in are the various historic instruments. I tried the iPad demo (connected to the digital piano) and I will now try the desktop ones to evaluate the differences between the Stage and Standard versions.
Is the purchasing model bi-directional ? so buying on IOS gets you free desktop license ?
If not ,isn’t the obvious optimal plan to buy the desktop , even if you only want the IOS at the moment ,
to have desktop option if you ever get another PC ?
(or have I misunderstood & pricing is not the same )
re argument above , So sales numbers on IOS will not matter to Pianoteq just by themselves, but moreso how many additional desktop licenses they sell where they can see one activation is for IOS .
Pretty sure it's bidirectional yes, as mentioned above. Buying anywhere will give you the right to run on mac / Linux / Windows, and also on iOS. You can run it on up to 3 machines simultaneously, but this is kind of overridden for iOS. Let's say u have 4 ipads, all linked to the same email registered with modartt, that will only count as 1 of your 3 machines, so you could have a simultaneous install on 2 other desktop devices too. You might want to double check this, as I got licenses for desktop and used those to restore purchases inside the ios app, but I'm 99% sure it is as I described.
I am also pretty sure it's bi-directional but, if I decide to buy it (likely will), I will get it directly from Modartt. I am assuming they will get a larger share of the purchase that way.
Ah - good point, yes I guess so.
What jumped out was the $759 USD! And This isn’t SWAM?! Like I’m totally shocked and surprised by the prices and also some people bought it.
At the same time, if you can afford it, and it is exactly what you are looking for I’m happy for you. Here’s looking at you @echoopera , I hope it gives you endless pleasure and unlocks new tools for your music
Still , ravenscroft was $18 last week and every sale, and pure piano was $15 or both for $30 so this piano must be incredible…however I also see it has SWAM modeling of other instruments so I’m glad to see SWAM had competition . Unlike others I don’t wish anyone to fail, in fact I hope everyone had success because there is enough to go around , so if it works for you and you can afford it, enjoy it!
Are you sure you can't access parameters in demos if you have the Stage license? On desktop I'm pretty sure the only differences between demos and actual versions were (1) after 20 minutes the demo stops and you need to close and restart app to get another 20 minutes, and (3) disabling of certain notes in demo. (I wonder if in iOS versions they haven't added feature to allow you to access Standard/Pro parameters as AUv3 parameters. If that's the case I expect the parameters are still changeable directly via MIDI CC.)
In a previous post, it seemed you were wondering whether you were limited to 20 minutes total in the demos, then couldn't use the demo again. I assume you've discovered you can close and restart as many times as you want.
Also, I think the Pro version is going to be serious overkill, even for most serious tweakers. Even with the Stage version there is serious tweakability, way more than any other iOS piano. The Standard version adds way more, including most modeling parameters, and editing of the more important "per-note" settings. Pro version adds even more "per note" settings to change. I kind of doubt whether the "per note" settings are going to be that useful to actually tweak during a "synth-piano" performance, and if so Standard will provide as much usable tweakability as Pro.

comment about price, not responding to Gavinski here, but to people who feel Pianoteq is too expensive:
Regarding price, I feel a little sorry for the iOS-only people, because the price is steep if you only want to use on iOS. I really like Pianoteq but I'm not sure I'd pay $140 just to use on iOS. (I probably would, I'd just think it was expensive.)
But if you have use for an app that runs on both iOS and Mac/Win/Linux and allows you to simultaneously run on two desktop machines and as many iOS machines as you want, the price seems totally fair. Compare the price against getting iOS and desktop versions of many popular iOS synths: E.g., Bleass Megalit $125 ($99 desktop and $25 iOS), Klevgrand Tomofon $150 ($125 desktop and $25 iOS), TAL-U-NO-LX $80 ($60 desktop and $20 iOS). The list goes on.
And I almost forgot. Compare to Ravenscroft Piano VST: $236 total ($200 desktop plus $36 for a cut-down iOS version).
Thnx - yes, already discovered and mentioned above that the Standard version also allows you to tweak physical modeling parameters of the demo presets - very cool!
Pro version allows up to 192khz sample rate on your desktop hence why i bought that some time ago.
Oh - now I read again what you said - no, the Stage license doesn’t seem to allow tweaking of parameters. You should tap on the picture to access these parameters. When on Stage, I couldn’t do this. On Standard I can. Maybe someone else currently using Stage can double check
Oops. Yeah I’ll need to get the Standard for the tweaking. Found this chart to help everyone understand what they get with which version:
Okay, I think we're talking about different things. I thought you were talking about (1) having a Stage license, and (2) not being able to access Standard or Pro demo parameters when running those demos with only Stage license. You should be able to do this, which is all that you need for testing Standard/Pro tweakability when you have only a Stage license.
If I get you right, those parameters "behind the picture" are the modeling parameters that are main reason to upgrade from Stage to Standard, and of course they thus aren't available in the Stage version, unless you're running Standard/Pro demo from a Stage-licensed instance of the app. Gets a little confusing, since you can run all of the demos without licensing any version at all. You don't need any license at all to test tweakability as much as you want. If you're running a Stage (demo or licensed): Tweakability Level 1. Standard (demo or licensed): Tweakability Level 2. Pro (demo or licensed): Tweakability level 3.
I would suggest going into AUv3 settings in the host you're using to see what you're allowed to change, since I assume that will be the main interface if you want to automate tweaking. Automation I expect will not be useful at all if you want it to sound "like a piano", only if you want to get weird synthy sounds.
Yes but “experts” on Modartt forum claim that it does not upgrade the internal frequency of the sound engine. Just the audio output. Internally, it’s always computed at 44,1kHz.
this is taken from the website and not the forum -
3] PIANOTEQ PRO offers an internal sample rate of up to 192 kHz. Up to 48 kHz in PIANOTEQ Stage and Standard.
.
Also, just to let you know a little backdoor hack : on PC/Windows you can tweak the “standard” settings from within the “stage” version by pressing the Tab key until the focus is on the parameter you want. You will not see the control but just a highlight of it. Then use the left/right arrows to change the value.
I don’t think however that you can save the preset and open it again without resetting the values in the Stage version. Good way to try the standard version however.
