Hello. Maybe I missed something. In AUM Hilda, when the sequencer is turned off, it starts making a sound after a while.
    Sorry😁It was Silo enabled. That's the problem😁

Interesting, I think it may be that the WOW (instability) knob is turned up slightly, which may give the drone circuit a wobble every now and then.

Edit: just saw your update. It's all good! :)

I tried to figure this out on my own but can't. Using Hilda in AUM and an FX, the incoming audio volume is drastically reduced coming out of Hilda. I know I must be doing something wrong but I have ext turned up all the way as well as the mixer turned up and track volume up. Anyone else have this issue?

    Thanks!

Ok, this is strange and groundbreaking. Headphones and volume up. I have no idea how I did it, but I picked up an extraterrestrial radio signal using Hilda.

Sounds like a flock of electric seagulls. Please share the patch!

  • So far, this app is pretty great. I'm a big Make Noise fan, and this def. reminds me of their semi-modulars.

Couple things I'd like to see:

    1. Some Ripplemaker style patching
    2. The ability to choose which steps the slope circuit triggers on, or a CYCLE mode.
    3. LIN/EXP on the slope circuit and ASR/ADSR
    4. The option to use a MONONOKE style keyboard that can be easily mapped to multiple parameters for the XY motions
    5. Random play modes on the sequencer
    6. A pure sine wave (can't seem to get one out of this thing, and that's always nice to have for wavefolding)

Nice now you need to do the sea waves .

Most Apple devices have a built-in zoom that you can enable under Settings | Accessibility. I just tried it with Hilda on my iPhone 6S and it worked fine.

Even better is the on-screen Zoom Controller (Settings > Accessibility > Zoom > Zoom Controller), which lets you enable, disable, and adjust the zoom without having to do a three-finger double tap. It keeps you from accidentally tapping UI controls when you try to zoom.

I find it indispensable with FabFilter Twin 3 even on my 11" iPad. (Yes, that UI needs work for iPadOS devices.)

I use the on-screen zoom all the time, often saves the day and can be nice to blow controls up huge to jam on. Not needed by Hilda on a Pro Max though.

But it does have a "cycle" mode, or are you looking for something else?

  • Alright I get it. This is something you have to experience “to get,” and even then, I still think that’s loosely fitting term. This is a very special and unique synthesizer and instrument and it’s hypnotically fun. I finally understand why the sequencer is there (you kind of need both hands and 10 fingers all at once sometimes lol, wacky stuff man)

Someone told me it wasn’t my style and not really for me/my music, and even if that may be true it is super fun to play with for audiophiles and sonic fans. But I disagree with that anyway.

It is making me think of what can I do with it rather than what was it intended for, and for that it is uniquely inspirational and creative. Like a Model 15, I may never know it as well as many of you clearly know synths, but between last weeks Moog sale and this debut is making me so glad I got the new Arturia keyboard.

Now I understand why so many of you who have stated coming over to iOS for software reasons, like @brambos really knocked it way, way out of the park on this. I can’t imagine anyone producing music on iOS not to own this.

Hilda is built like an electronic hardware you feel the osc . Tremendous experience.

THIS. My experience is same. It feels like using actual HW synth

That’s about the biggest compliment possible for me as that’s what I’ve been striving for :)

You definitely nailed it! There’s a certain sense of wonder I get when using your apps that I haven’t felt in about twenty plus years, back when I was still new to creating music (at least in the recording part of it).

When anybody IRL asks , I always say those new to IOS music making should stick to the works of 3 developers…BLEASS, Iceworks, and Bram Bos. Those are the necessities and everything is else is more of a “nice to have “ vs a necessity

I would go another way and choose canonic apps that could not exist without the touchscreen—Animoog, Samplr, Borderlands, GeoShred, etc.

  • Een ouwelijk !
    Dank je wel!

Ps I have a new iPad Pro no problem! ;)

I love this. Took me not very long to create some great Steampunk sounds.
One suggestion @brambos : I am a great fan of analog sequencers like the one in your app. Would it be possible to map the sequencer controls (including all 32 knobs) as AU parameters ? From my experience with live playing I do prefer the use of an external MIDI controller with knobs or sliders to the touch screen. I don’t know if you can define the order of the AU parameters in the list as it appears in hosts like AB3 or AUM, but I would just put the sequencer controls at the end of it, so users who do not need them are not bothered by them.

Yes +1! I read about the sequencer yesterday and it also being standalone sequencer and had my launchcontrol ready to map to the sequencer but unfortunately no joy🥲

    Get your Launchcontrol ready :)

  • what’s that oscilloscope app on background ?

Yeah, it's the ApeMatrix scope. Very handy little tool.

  • I think it’s built in utility of ApeMatrix

Ah nice, I went to do this with my beatstep today, but quickly realised there were no places to assign controls…

Those are 3 of my favorites as well. Maybe not for a newbie but can’t forget Igor and Zolotov. That actually may be my top 5 developers list 😂 wait but then I’m forgetting Fingerlabs. Too many to name I guess 😆

  • Still being blown away by this app. Some of the patches I’ve made are some of my favorites ever on any synth. This is gonna end up becoming one of my favorite instruments period, not even just on iOS.

As much as I love their synths, sometimes the UI can ever so slightly get in the way of my enjoyment. That said I own all their apps besides ApeMatrix so I gotta count them too 😂 plus iVCS3 is likely my favorite iOS synth.

Yes. I can’t believe how SICK this app/synth is. Like I know a lot of people here have favorites along with a lot of experience, so even if mines limited not only are the sounds amazing it is so much fun to tweak them with those special touch pads.

I love hosting it as an AU, putting MIDI learn and using my CC knobs to mess around while I record patterns. (And as the manual says it’s fun to just let it drone and play with the sound). I can’t believe you can record the automation from the touch pads!

It’s a great product, easy and straightforward manual and clearly a well deserved respect dev who is super responsive.

That said I haven’t quite figured out how to use snapshot lol

Man, now I'm seeing a need for velocity attenuators for parameters. Maybe you tap on the LFO attenuator and it switches to velocity. And patch points eeeeeeveeywhere. Oh lordy. Variable gate lengths per step? Throw it in Drambo, perhaps.

If @brambos made an app that acted as a shell to interconnect all of his apps like a groovebox, it'd be amazing.
