  • Looks nice. Love Suggester. I have it since the initial version and it was of great help

  • I’ll probably get this

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Looks awesome! I would be surprised if it turns out to be free, but I see nothing about an IAP in the description.

  • Oh fuck. It's subscription isn't it?

  • I wish it provided MIDI “divisi” to spread chords across MIDI channels. Thankfully, the brilliant @_Ki has created 2 Mozaic scripts to help add this feature:

One to isolate the bass note and another to “divisi” across up to 6 channels. Then you can pipe the MIDI into a DAW like Cubasis and assign instruments to render the progressions as an ensemble.

Scaler 2 has this feature and I hope the dev here sees the value because this is now a pretty crowded use case and just throwing chords out on one channel misses a useful workflow feature for composers. It’s probably a simple thing to add too. I contacted the developer and he responded that it didn’t seem to be that useful. Composers using IOS will increase in the very near future and this is a real value to turn chords into arrangements.

I’ll bet Piano Motifs gets there with another 20+ updates :^) because he listens and delights his users.

  • I like Suggester 1 so I'll be watching this but I can't tell too much from the screenshots. ; hope it's not a sub. Yes, divisi would be useful.

  • Can this do anything that Scaler 2 can’t ?

Prob not, BUT I find it easier to dig out chord substitutions with Suggester than with Scaler
And it’s a tad more organized as to what the functions of the chords are - YMMV

    Good question

It's universal and seems to be easier for me to wrap my head around. 😅

I hope not lol. Although Suggester 1 is also free to download and a one time IAP to unlock, so hopefully this will also be the case with Suggester 2.

Logic Pro's subscription makes sense since I assume it will continue to get new content and updates for years to come. Suggester 2 being subscription would make no sense at all.

Just being a pessimist to set myself up for a pleasant surprise.

I love the OG Suggester. Scaler 2 is more comprehensive but I think Suggester is easier to navigate if you want something quickly. Definitely gonna preorder and at least give the old college try. Anyone tried the Chordpad app from this dev? It seems great as well. Have the free version but never got the full unlock.

  • Any list of comparison of v1 and v2 features?

  • No way in hell it’ll be subscription.

  • One of my favorite apps , whatever it is , I need to have it

Not that I’m aware. The App Store blurb is pretty descriptive but doesn’t exactly say what’s new other than the fact that it’s new lol

If you look at the list of in app purchases it does mention a monthly subscription?

That’s the only one that’s mentioned weirdly. Same price as Logic Pro sub too? I have to imagine that one of the other options is maybe a 1-off purchase, looks to be around the 50 bucks range. Not sure what this is offering but hard to see many people going for that when scaler 2 is what…just $20?

I agree. Just grab Scaler 2 for that price

Kinda ludicrous if they actually stick to the $50 price point. Scaler seems to do much more for less than half, even if Suggesters interface is a bit easier to manage. I’d rather do the full unlock for the first one before spending that much.

Will be trial by fire lol. As I mentioned elsewhere, devs who try to push the sub thing too hard will wither by the wayside and all the people worried that this is the start of everything music related going sub are being very naive / paranoid, imo

Oh yeah 100%. It’s one thing for a major DAW like Logic that offers an insane amount and will likely get new features added often and another for smaller apps that do 1-2 things. Even if it does it very well. No one wants 100 different app subscriptions and if the devs don’t see that it won’t work, well, idk what to tell them lol

Pure foolishness, sorry to be harsh, but it's true. They will learn the hard way 🤷‍♂️

  • Iap list looks interesting

Good bye Suggester… if they go the subscription route. Logic has set the bar high, very high. If you have to use subscription, then that’s how you do it.

May be harsh but honest and sometimes that’s how it’s gotta be 🤷🏻‍♂️ bit of a shame as I think Suggester is a pretty good app, but $50 a year/$5-$6 a month? I don’t think so. Scaler, Progressions, Chordjam, LK, and Tonality work for me. I’d buy it outright for a good price but if not, no thanks.

It’s not fair to compare independent or small-team developers to Apple, who will end up selling a lot of tablets, dongles etc. off the back of this. And while they shouldn’t be expected to, they could probably completely write the cost off as a loss-leader.

And it’s just a shame that everyone is so ready to sound the death knell as soon as subscriptions are mentioned. Perhaps we should just let developers choose whichever model they think to be sustainable for them and let every use decide whether the particular app is useful enough for them to pay the sub.
