Launch delayed, it seems. Clicking that link is not opening anything for me either

It's gonna explode into a million pieces over Texas isn't it.

  • Has there been any update on when it’s actually coming out now?

+1 ...will wait for the final release. Seems it was released in Australia, but some last minute changes are still a possibility

To me it's between Suggester 2 and Tonaly (not tonality), but I have a 64gb iPad and there is no way I'd use 1.2GB of storage just for Scaler / any chord progressions app 😜

Isn’t Tonaly similar to Tonality but without any AU?

Paying a subscription to have a suggestion when you can use scaler that does so much more for a one time fee. This seems like the biggest no brainer.

    To each their own 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yep. Even at $1.99 that’s almost $24 a year which is more than the price to own Scaler2 outright. I do really enjoy the first Suggester and its interface but between Scaler, Tonality, Progressions, and a couple others, I just don’t need it. If there’s an option to buy outright for cheap-ish I’d consider it but for $9.99 a month it’s a hard pass

From what I remember Tonality is more for reference, but doesn't let you play back a chord progression directly from the app?

I’m not sure how it was before the update but Tonality comes with 4 different AUs at the moment, 2 of which allow you to send midi using progressions directly from the app.

Yeah, I meant when used stand alone. I'm looking for something to use on my phone without having to open a daw or similar

P.S. I think Tonality is also great... just wanted to specify I actually meant Tonaly since they have similar names

I have the release version and the above information is from within the app.

The only bug I've found so far is that the loop function needs to be toggled off and back on to work.

    How are you finding it?

Are the "arpeggio modes" any good / is it easier to experiment with different rhythms?

No, not really. Tonality is so much more, don’t get me wrong TONALY is cool, but Tonality has a full theory encyclopedia of chords and scales for piano and guitar. Tonality has 4 AU’s inside, with all kinds of cool features. So many features it’s almost impossible to list everything, @tja covered a lot of it in post above. It has chords, scales, circle of fifths, ear training, dictionary, and chord pads, plus the 4 very useful AU’s packed inside. TONALY is a standalone chord progression creator, with midi export. tonality is one of my favorite apps, and probably the most bang for your buck app on the App Store.

Not really. Up and down. Skip up and skip down, whatever they are, are locked until purchased.

I pre-ordered and it appeared on my iPad. Must have happened very quickly before it got pulled.

Oh I agree, I was just clarifying what they meant. Didn’t realize they were looking for something that wasnt AU. I love Tonality.

The app is out now and at least in the UK the price (no subscription!) is close to what v1 was priced 🎉

    I see something very strange:

The App is new, I never installed it and I also never was on the beta in Testflight.

Why does it show the cloud symbol, as if I had installed it before?!? 😳

Maybe they just 'replaced' the old App Store entry with a new app and added subscription :sunglasses:

What exactly does S2 offer to you that you need it over the first version?

    Just curious..

I don’t know and, TBH, even though Suggester v1 is a great app, I don’t really use it that much. So for the moment, I’m not buying the unlock IAP for the v2.

Scaler all the way 🙃 this app makes me feel like I’m going backwards.

Scaler is wonderful. I also have Progressions, Tonality, LK and many others so I don’t think I need this at all. I might do $5 to test it out for the month just to see as I like the interface of the first one. But there’s no way it could be as deep as Scaler. At least I think so.
