    I haven’t found a way to do this in the piano roll editor for velocity yet either.

    Glad it’s not just me. Is there a way to report this to Apple? There is no way something this basic is intentional - got to be a bug or oversight. Can’t believe more people haven’t noticed it.

    Yes there is a way to report to Apple:
    https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro/

    Hopefully everyone is reporting all the issues or enhancement requests to them.

    I’d be curious whether this is in the desktop version, and whether this is an iPad specific omission or if this is just not the “Logic Way” of doing things. I don’t have the desktop version so I don’t know.

    Guess it's iPad specific?!

    On Dekstop Logic velocity is handled the same way as any automation data and you can use a line to to create velocity ramps on a selection of notes.

    Thanks @Gavinski and @caminante . I did submit a report and went on to research further. According to Mac version manual you do it via automation by selecting velocity from the drop-down as described by @Samu . In the iPad version velocity is missing from that drop-down. Everything else is there except velocity. The iPad manual does not claim it’s an option.
    This tells me they are aware it can’t be done and it’s either intentional or it’s an oversight/bug they haven’t gotten around to fixing yet. I would sure like to know which. I will ask the Apple eight ball.

    Thanks all for responding.

    Question, on the mac version of Logic, when you create a drum track, as for example an 8 bar midi event, it is possible to generate an intro before this bar.

    Is this possible in IOS version? I guess not (yet)?

    Sure, just do it manually.

    I explained it a bit wrong probably. I just tried it on my macbook, and the way it works is in an empty project, I activate arrangement menu. And from there I label the timeline with intro-verse-chorus-bridge-outro.

    Then I make for example the intro shorter, not 8 bars but 4 bars. And then I choose a drummer track, and these blocks are automatically filled with drum parts that match with the arrangement label. So instantly 5 different drum parts are created.

    Logic for IOS only has markers that can be placed on the timeline, not arrangements labels.

    Not exactly what you are looking for, but the other day I had to cut off the beginning of a region on a drummer track in Logic iPad, and it regenerated the remainder into something much like an intro. I was really surprised. But I have not tried to repro or test it, so pls treat this as anecdotal 🤷

    I’m sure you know this;

    You can convert Drummer regions into MIdI for further editing. This will obviously stop parts getting regenerated so you can fix bits you like and carry on tweaking drummer regions on other parts of the song…

    You can also mix and match regions on a track, so say you want to edit a fill to get it how you want it, you can split the drummer region and convert just the fill part to MIDI (or a pattern region) and leave the rest as drummer regions where you can continue to tweak the drummer part settings.

    I like to use the drummer to generate a tom fill, convert to midi, edit/tweak then use just the fills in their own track with different processing where I want to use the fill like a sample. (Plus you can obviously bounce it to audio and chop and slice etc.).

    It’s also fun to use drummer tracks to make your own drum kits. Bounce a simple short drum loop to audio, add a vinyl /lofi effect, repitch a little and then make a drum designer kit for your own vinyl kit for example. Having the vinyl (and verb) effect baked in to each hit makes it sound more like you’ve sampled a hit from a dusty old record. Very different from adding a vinyl effect to an entire track.

  • How to save a track with Modifiers+Instrument as present and preserve the Modifier mappings? As in, to reuse this track in other projects. Thanks.

  • One more question, if I may….Anyone have any tips regarding how to map the Alchemy Transform Pad Y? Using “Learn Plug-in Parameter” but no matter what, it maps X. Found some tips for Logic for Mac, but the approach is not possible with iPad version…no manual parameter selection, only midi learn. Thanks again.

    You can tap on the track and do a Save Patch. This will save it as an Instrument Patch. Seems to have all the additional plugins on either side intact for me.

    Now as far as ever finding it again without specifically remembering what you called it - no idea there. It doesn’t seem to let you add your own tags that I can tell. Although maybe I just haven’t figured that out yet.

  • Hello, is there something simple and basic like abletons chord midi fx in logic for iPad? I know theres the chord strips but its not exactly the same...thx!

  • a velocity crescendo. Then you can convert back to MIDI region.

    Wouldn’t this be an easy thing for Scripter MIDI FX if someone brainy user here could write an Javascript for Scripter?
    I mean, select a region that you/we wants as crescenx> @pbrian said:

    I really don’t know what Abletons Chord MIDI FX is doing, but, there’s an Chord Trigger MIDI FX into Logic Pro on iPad…

    With Chord Trigger FX into the FX slot you play chords with just one key on the keyboard.
    You can choose among all kind of chords…

    Give it a try…

    There is actually a Midi Scripter script in Logic for Desktop called harmonizer which works in a similar way to Abelton's Chord MidiFX. If you have Logic Pro for desktop you could copy it across. Strange why they didn't include this as a default script in Logic for iPad. (Or there is always Mozaic)

    Harmonizer Scripter MIDI FX are one of the 20 presets present on Logic for iPad…
    Perhaps you missed that?

    I think the Chord Trigger MIDI FX are a better chord fx then Harmonizer.
    Harmonizer just plays triads, or?

    I did miss that - so, looks like the basic harmonizer from Logic desktop, which has an additional option to increase the number of additional harmonized notes. However, that requires a rerun of the script. It's unfortunate that we can't write scripts from the iPad end of things. (We could rewrite the script at the desktop to include more notes I guess)

    From desktop script:

    "//-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    // Harmonizer
    //-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    // number of harmonies, also drives parameter creation. change, then run script
    var numVoices = 6;"

    Ok - hav’nt tried Harmonizer MIDI FX on my Mac, but, pretty strange that Harmonizer differ between iPad and Mac?

    I will try the script from Logic Mac onto iPad Logic…

    Wonder if it’s more Scripter FX scripts that differ on the platforms?

    I have already moved the missing 10 scripts from Mac to my iPad, totally 30 Scripter presets…

    Could you be more precise on that adding to the script (for a novelty in programming)…

    Maybe you could show us the whole script sourcecode we put into Scripter Harmonizer MIDI FX?

    Thanks in advance!

    So, just amend the line in the desktop version of Logic to “var numVoices = 6;” as above, rerun script and then save to a project in logic on desktop.

    On desktop, open the scripter, then:

    1. Open script in editor
    2. Amend the numVoices line
    3. Run script

    Then save the preset and project and port to iPad. Hope that is clear?

    Copy project to logic on iPad, open the scripter and then save the preset to user folder as something else, (I choose Harmonizer6). It looks like this on iPad:

    Sorry, just amended my original post, hope the amended version helps make it more clear. The line is already there, but defaults to numVoices=2, hence the reason only good for triads initially. Sure it can be improved, but that is a quick way of getting it to do more than triads.

    Anyone here that understands Logics way of changing Velocity on multi-selected notes?

    If I have four note, respectively velocity 80, 60, 40, 30, and then take the Velocity Tool in the editor, there’s always an max resp minimum value, locked up/down, but selecting several other notes, the lock value max/min differ…

    Can’t see a pattern how they counting this values…

    As far as I can tell, with multiples selected, it’s changing them all linearly. The lowest velocity note sets the floor, and the highest velocity note sets the ceiling. Or in other words, when your 30 velocity note goes to 0, that’s all the downward velocity adjustment that’s possible. When your 80 velocity note hits 127, that’s as high as you can go.

    It's relative scaling when you have multiple notes selected, you can also choose to show note and velocity values for each note. If you type in a value all notes will be set to that value.
