    One more thing.

I may believe that Logic Pro for iPad is a little faster and snappier on iPadOS 17 beta 1…

Someone else here on iPadOS 17?

I won't do OS betas but I would not be at all surprised if things get faster due to optimization!
Especially since LogicPro for iPad uses Apples own stuff and doesn't rely on 3rd party frameworks so all optimization Apple does will also benefit LogicPro for iPad.

Things like new drivers for the GPU will give things a boost...
...heck even my old i5 MacMini got a boost when the graphics drivers get updated :sunglasses:

So when macOS Sonoma drops I will install it on my 2018 i5 MacMini which I so happy is still supported!
My trusty iPhone 8 will not be supported by iOS17...

Can you check to see if you can choose the audio inputs and outputs in other apps now, like you can in Logic? Or something in the Settings app maybe?

Can’t check this for the moment…

Is it possible to import EXS24 instruments?
    How about SpaceDesigner IR’s?

No, we can’t direct import EXS24 instrument into iPad Logic…
Only way for the moment is to add the instrument to a Mac project and then save on Mac and open this project on the iPad…

It seems to be an bug in Space Designer so we can’t add IR-files just now…

  • This afternoon I’ve have been investigating my iPad and Logic Pro for discovering what content Apple cut out when they moved Logic Pro from Mac to iPad.
    It’s around 55 GB of content that we’re missing…
I have starting today with moving missing instruments to my iPad, and, there’s a lot of work to move over everything…

Question is, what are you missing on iPad from Logic on Mac?

strange…must be a reason…i make my own instruments…dont care for the ones that came with logic…

  • Yesterday I’ll checked the differences between Mac and iPad when it’s about the instrument/sound content (60GB less on iPad) on Logic Pro…

Today I started to go thru all the differences concerning all MIDI FX between Mac and iPad.
As we know, Scripter FX has 30 presets on Mac, just 20 on iPad (easy to move missing Javascript from Mac to iPad).

Checked out Arpeggiator FX in detail on iPad and discovered that everything is there except Mac Logics abilities to manual drop Arp MIDI pattern direct onto the timeline from the plugin window…

Has anybody else discover details in plugins and instrument be missing?

  • Finally decided I can get my paid work done AND play with Logic for iPad so installed and have started to play. One of the first things I wanted to check is roundtrip and how seamlessly projects move between ipad and desktop and vice versa, particularly when an au plugin is used on desktop that isn't available as auv3. As I'm sure many of you know there's no hand holding in this department, just a warning of incompatibility and the affected track not sounding. What I was hoping for is an option to automatically bounce tracks with non-compatible synths/plugins or maybe the option to have a placeholder instrument if it's a midi track. I'm assuming this is not an actual option that I've missed? I realise this is hard as how does Login know what I have and don't have in my iPad.

Anyway I will play more and find a workflow!

Having issues accessing GeoShred presets in Logic.
None show up when I long press the plug-in tile, and the only sub-menu accessible is Sonic Textures. Tapping it does nothing. The actual presets menu works but, again, just for Sonic Textures.

EDIT: Is this an issue for anyone else?

  • Am I right in assuming that some auv3 developers need to update their apps to fit into the Logic for iPad UI? Animoog is ridiculous within the UI, keeping it's square ratio n the rectangular space for it. Would hate to try to program it like that!

Ok, for someone who can, here is my request: please Load Hilda

How do you assign Live pad 1-5 AU parameters to your midi controller knob and record/write the automation data?

What’s the point and advantages to have presets from Geoshred into the Logic browser?
What’s wrong with using the onboard patch browser into Geoshred?

The patch browser in GeoShred does not work, for me. I tap it and do not get a list of the subcategories. I’m stuck with the Sonic Textures presets. Note in the video that when I tap on Sonic Textures category, it responds by flashing but does not open the menu of preset categories. Does it work for you?

  • @zilld2017 - it works for me (access sub-categories in Geoshread into Logic Pro for iPad):

    As am I.

EDIT: using iPadOS 16.5, not the beta.

In any case, I created a new project and tried again, and it works properly. Strange. But, alas, it works.

  • Also, in re GeoShred in Logic for iPad: it will record MPE.

    Search?

Geoshred hasn't implemented a search function for their preset browser and they have stated that it's not going to happen in the near future, either. With hundreds of presets available and no alphabetical sorting, that's feeble imho. You have to scroll up and down like a fool to find something. 😀

So if the presets appear in logic sidebar and can be searched, that would be a big step forward - Apple doing moforte's homework, as it were.

Alas, ‘tis not to be. The presets do not appear in the logic sidebar, nor are they searchable.

In order for this to work @moForte would have support AUv3 Presets.

There's a a WWDC session from 2019 describing how AUv3 Presets are handled.
    https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2019/509/

This in turn would mean cutting support for pre iOS13 devices...

  • I’m trying to copy a MIDI automation CC curve from one CC to another CC but copy/past seems only possible ‘within’ one CC. If I copy a curve and open another CC in the editor the paste command seems to paste in the previous/original CC editor window (even if the wanted/new CC editor window is open and I’m trying to paste there..)
    Anyone experience with this?

Geoshred preset system sucks. Moforte are aware of it and say they will improve it

Yeah you can’t do that unfortunately.

As a workaround You can use a script as per this thread to convert cc data. Any cc data recorded in the midi region will be converted to whatever you want it to including plugin parameters, with scaling. Kind of like a mod matrix that works across multiple plugins on the same track.

You can use multiple input/target pairs to convert one controller cc to multiple destinations by setting more than one input to the same Cc value.

Thank you! I’d already downloaded your project..
I’m now in the process looking to get the MIDI out of Logic.
I know how to use the ‘external instrument’ option, but I’m confused what the MIDI out on a regular MIDI track means (as it doesn’t seem to come out via Logic’s virtual out MIDI port..)

But they also said it won't be any time soon, just recently when I asked them about it here on the forum, so that "will" is rather open ended I'm afraid

  • I’ve never been good at programming drum sequences, so Logic’s drummer feature is something I highly appreciate.
But how can I make the drummer play half-time?
There’s an ‘Auto half-time’ button in case of the electronic drummers and it works fine, but there’s no such option available if I choose acoustic drummers.

Setting the tempo of the track to the half is not an option in my specific case.
(I imported an audiofile which was recorded in a live session with acoustic instruments, so its tempo is not stable. Logic thinks the tempo of the audio region is around 130, but it’s ~65 actually, so if I insert a drummer track the drummer plays twice as fast as the song’s real tempo.)

  • does logic ios got a full sampler? like the desktop version?

You can covert the drummer track to a midi-region and stretch it to double length for half-time.
