  • Can anyone confirm that SWAM instruments work as intended in Logic iOS? Especially the automation part?

Do you mean write in your automation on the timeline, or, record automation when you fiddle with the knobs in SWAMs own GUI?

I can test this later today…

Try both, I'm interested in buying some SWAM instruments, doing research atm. Thanks in advance, you are the king! ;)

Nice! 🤩 I have in mind to take Strings and Big Band bundles plus I need one flute and one reed at least. Take your time.

It seems that everything works perfect in Logic Pro, both manual Automation programming and also live play in the GUI of the SWAM instruments…

    SWAM, great stuff!

Good, very good! Waited with SWAM purchase till some quality automation app showed up, with Logic no need to wait any more. Thanx on your effort, I’m grateful! 🤩

  • Is there a fairly simple way to record from a midi track directly into an audio track, aka Loopy Pro? I’ve managed to do it with sends an aux tracks but am looking for something straightforward like loopy pro.

You can bounce in place. Select the MIDI region (or regions), long tap and in the menu look in the bounce section.

  • Quick sample is so GREAT.. loves how it detects the key of ‘imported loops’… well, most of the time..

    Huh..

Thanks @richardyot . Close, but I’m looking to record live, not the bounce after-recording route.

In the hat case you would have to send the MIDI to an audio track via a bus.

  • Hello good and logical people,

Simple question, no doubt answered already, but still:

I am inserting an instrument/au3 but I do NOT know the developer name, only the app name itself, is there any other way to suss this beyond going out to the app store and doing the research etc etc?

When you are about to add an instrument just tap the search field and start typing the name of the instrument you’re looking for:

  • Load up any MIDI instrument, then long touch the instrument, Replace. There’s a search field at the top that lets you search by AUv3 name.

  • @griker @GLacey Thank you both. I did not have the wit to think that the search box would do any more than return company names. Logic in the head of the certain can be more less useful than apple sauce. The good news (for me) is that I had decided this was the one thing wrong with what is otherwise a fine app. I am reminded of the old Iranian rug weavers who would (apparently) leave one thread untied, as only Allah is perfect etc. I really would be a very poor carpet maker....

    Thanks again.

  • I can work out how to make an audio loop fit the tempo of a song in logic with timestretching, but what about if I want to do it without? I actually want the loop’s pitch to go up as it gets faster - like pitching up on a turntable.

I’ve tried changing the speed in inspector but when I tap 1x nothing happens.

Seeing this screenshot a question popped up.
Does it even make sense to do post-fader freeze in iPad Logic Pro?. IMO that makes sense to free some cpu if you’ve done pitch or warp corrections. I mean the manual ones that you can’t do on iPad.

  • Freezing.

Does freezing a track not give you an audio track to chop/move/copy and paste?

I could well be missing something but I was expecting a nice audio track to appear just like in Cubasis. This is a biggy for me :(

I know I could just route the output of the track to an audio track (which you can't do on Cubasis) but still...

Oh ok so just 'bounce' (route the audio, right?) to an audio track and do what I want with it there?

I know that's not hard but I would have preferred the Cubasis way.

PS - a long time since we've had a Cubasis update or heard from Lars. I wonder what's going on...

  • @FPC said:

No need to 'route' anything. Just tap on an audio region and select bounce & join.
That will create a new track for you or replace the original, your choice.

I know that's not hard but I would have preferred the Cubasis way.

    Matter of preference really...
You can also drag an audio or midi-region to the track area and create a sampler instrument.

PS - a long time since we've had a Cubasis update or heard from Lars. I wonder what's going on...

True and according the the Cubasis forum they are still working on the update and it will be released when it will be released but the tempo track will apparently not make it just yet.

I would be happy with Cubasis 'Sampler Track' for starters but I doubt that will pop up either...
...I keep Cubasis around so when I do beta on apps I can check with all popular hosts :sunglasses:

    Cheers!

As always Samu thanks for the explanation. Didn't know what bounce meant and certainly never noticed it before :D

Bounce can be used for many things, here's a clip bouncing a side-chained vocoder track to audio.

(In order to include a muted track used for side-chain in the bounce, pan & volume automation must be enabled).

Here's the fastest way I've come up with to get multi-out AUv3's to work.
(The trick to use 'replace' to swap the output of an AUv3 from stereo to multi-out).

Once it's setup it can be saved as a 'Track Preset' for the next time when multi-out is needed.
(I've saved 'Track Presets' for FAC Drumkit, Koala, Ruismakers and a few others).

I'm finally starting to feel I have a grip on Logic Pro for iPad but there's a LOT of things that could be improved for sure.

Feel free to ask anything, it challenges my brain too :sunglasses:

  • Multi-out AUs was my next thing to learn - cheers :)

Looking forward to the first update. Not exactly vital but I want app logos for AUs.

I'll get stuck into those videos tomorrow. Too tired to learn anything new tonight. Thanks again 🙏

Is there a way to preset MIDI quantization for a track, so that a loop will be quantized as soon as you finish recording? (I know how to quantize regions after they've been recorded.)

Yes, set it under 'region defaults' (it can be done in the inspector when no region is selected).
