It creates a new line in a sequencer which triggers same old pad. But it doesn't create a new pad. I've recorded a short video to show it: https://www.loom.com/share/aaa2902cc3fd4f2c88922058716bd89b?sid=c1945622-b388-40be-bb39-fd1d57e0b1a9 Thanks!

Don’t know how/if possible, but would like a copy pad option myself.
I don't think it's possible, there is no MIDI routing.
What can sometimes work (depending on the effect) is to create a MIDI track, add the desired audio effect to that MIDI track and then use the sidechain function in the effect to route the audio in from there. This is how you set up BLEASS Voices for example.
Ok, I get it!
Yes, it duplicate the pad, but it doesn’t make a trigger pad in the play surface UI…
As above, if you Copy pad, create new pad, Paste into that new pad?
The really funny part with Drum Machine Designer is to create “drum kits” with a lots of different patches from Alchemy, Sculpure, Retro Synth, ES2, Drum Synth etc etc…
Sure, it can be done with tracks and MIDI on the timeline, but, DMD is so powerful and awesome to use on the iPad…
Logic Pro for iPad may miss some functions in version 1.0, but it has a lot of great other features…
Does the desktop version have this sort of midi routing? Seems unimaginable that a daw could be around for this long and not have something so basic.
Don’t think there’s an easy way to route MIDI between tracks other than use MIDI Environment, an heritage from the Emagics years…
Gotcha. I mean usually by the time a track is audio I’ll be using automation, but it makes me realise how spoiled we’ve been with Loopy Pro and AUM
Yeah, but automation is not the same as assigning an lfo to an effect to get some variation and movement. Or using something like the FAC Envolver to act on transients…
I don’t why it’s not implemented. If you compare an audio track to an instrument track, that does have the possibility via the MidiFX slot… It’s got nothing to do with the instrument, it’s a midi fx plugin modulating an audio fx, doesn’t matter if the src of audio is a wav file or an instrument. In the case of the instrument track the midi fx can affect both the instrument or audio fx coming after and in the audio track just the audio fx coming after…
Oh I totally agree it’s odd that this isn’t something that’s in there. Just doesn’t affect me that much as I don’t record live instruments so the vast majority of my tracks are midi anyway.
Hey Team, two quick questions. Is there a way to "Save As" when you're in a project. I like to version each iteration of a project so this means saving as ...v2,...v3,...v4 etc.
Second one - what is the easiest way to get Scaler chords onto the timeline from the Scaler AuV3? No drag and drop from what I can tell.
TIA!
Currently no but a 'work around', close current project, duplicate, rename open the new file...
If you want to keep the original intact before opening it, create a copy first and work on the copy.
Thanks Samu. Hope they implement this to make it easier.
Can any of the Logic Pro reverbs reasonably approximate Blackhole default preset? 🤔💀
I’m not at home just now, but, Logic have four different Reverbs that’s hopefully cover all needs, or?
Many likes Blackhole, but I can’t remember that I bought it yet…
Yes I’ve dabbled with them all but so far haven’t solved the riddle of that magical blackhole default preset
Second question - longpress on the Scaler plugin window in the tile view, there, choose “Record MIDI From Here’ in the menu…
Just tried myself and can assure you that is work…
Thank you!
Have you tried to add external (and great) IR-files to Space Designer on the iPad?
Maybe you can come closer to Blackhole Reverb with some great IR-files?
This might be a stupid question, but why not just use Blackhole? :-)
Perhaps he wants to see how long he can take Logic iPad with only stock plugins and stock instruments?
Can we bring Space Designer on pair with Blackhole Reverb?
Have you any clue on this - I’m curious too…
This might get you pretty close. A quick test on a drum synth snare was pretty close with Blackhole set to 100% wet. Tweak to taste:
yes it’s largely an academic exercise, though i’m also motivated by the fact that i would like to start collaborating with old friends again by sharing logic projects.
in this case i wouldn’t want to force them to buy Auv3 just to participate.
The sound of Blackhole is the only plug-in right now i just can’t give up…it’s too gorgeous. so i will force them to buy it unless I can find something close that is native to LP
Ha! Great achievement! Thanks a lot for this!
Is ChromaVerb better than Space Designer for copy the quality output from Blackhole Reverb AUv3?
Yes. Space designer is an IR reverb. Chromaverb is algorithmic.
Unless there is already an IR that sounds the same you can’t really sculpt space designer much.
Chromaverb is obviously fully programmable.
for best results use it on a send and put a vintage eq after it. Blackhole’s default patch is a bit darker in the Mids so you can use the damping chroma to taste. or cut some Mids in vintage eq (use whichever you like best) and add some drive to make the tails sound nicer. You can also add a compressor (I’d probably start with the opto) to make the tails even bigger. If you do this you can use the side chain to duck the reverb and get it out of the way of the source audio.
If you use the graphic eq tune it so the top band is >30 KHz and add some of the top two bands for some ‘air’.
Tweaking the distance parameter will give you a lusher or sparser sounding space. Change the room type for different sounding verbs. There are much brighter sounding spaces available but Blackhole is quite dark sounding. Obviously adjust the dry/wet balance depending on if you’re using it on a send or as an insert. The decay is close but you can easily turn it up to say 15 secs for a longer tail. Also adjust the early/lates to taste. Removing all the early reflections will make it sound smoother. You can add some more density and increase the distance if you want a much lusher sound but I think it gets too busy if you do that.
Anyway. Consider that patch a starting point but I think it has a similar vibe to Blackhole’s default, it’ll never be exact but you can definitely get it closer if you prioritise which part of the sound you want to get closer to and adjust accordingly.
Great summon on this topic! Thanks! Much appreciated!
It seems that copy the sound of another plugin can be "complicated", but, perhaps worth the energy...
Reverb is perhaps the most difficult to copy, or?
I will give this a try this evening ...
Have a nice day!
First you need to understand what DMD actually is and how it works.
It's basically a Track Stack and each 'pad' is its own track.
The pads are actually just a play surface that works on the top level track Stack.
If you create a new empty DMD instance, the 'pads' are empty. But the pads are effectively just MIDI controls with an input and output MIDI note.
If you hit the edit button in the DMD pad surface you can click on an empty pad and select "Create DMD Subtrack"
You now have an empty track and the pad will have the midi input and output notes assigned.
If you want to duplicate a pad in an existing DMD preset, do the same as above to assign a new ‘pad’. Then all you need to do is select the track inside the stack you want to copy (the track in the tracks area not the pad) and tap the … menu and copy channe strip. Now go to the newly assigned track and paste the settings. You might need to reset the channel strip first if paste isn’t in the menu.
Now you can edit the output midi note to match the sample’s root key or it can be any pitched sound.
If you select any track inside the au stack (DMD stack) the play surface will probably change to. Standard keyboard allowing you to play that ‘pad’ chromatically.
So you don’t duplicate a pad. You make a new DMD sub stack track from any ‘empty’ pad.
And to reiterate. The pads are ‘just’ a control surface that maps incoming midi notes to any pad and allows you to change the outgoing note. So you can tune a drum synth pad by changing the output note of the pad.
So basically you create a new DMD sub stack from an empty pad when the top layer of the DMD is selected and then you can make that track anything you want. Copy and paste another track’s channel strip settings to alter an existing pad.
So yes you can duplicate a ‘pad’ it just takes multiple steps.
I’m writing this from memory on my phone but there should be enough info here to figure it out :-)
I’ve always really liked the ‘vocal’ fx preset in Auria, does anyone have any tips on how to recreate it?
Lol pretty darn close thanks! I saved it as “Fake Blackhole” preset
Haha. I called it 'Fakehole' :-)
Blackhole is smoother and my patch is a bit more trebly but a touch of saturation and rolling off of the highs from Vintage EQ gets a really nice tail I think is quite useful regardless of whether it sounds anything like Blackhole.
Anyway, hopefully it's a reasonable starting point to tweak to taste :-)
