Weird. I just tried to go to the Moog forum and log in. I've never been to the Moog forum before, although I did create an account there when I bought my DFAM and M32 just in case I needed help. But I wasn't allowed to log in because apparently, according to the pop-up message, I'm banned temporarily. I've never been there before, never read anything, never posted. I feel strangely cheated, I could have at least had some fun earning my ban.
Iām been looking to buy one maybe but have been having trouble deciding
I should just get the subsequent37 but the tone of other models I like more
I want the VoYager RME I think but they go for around 4K Canadian
Also Studio Electonics does the Moog sound almost better than moog, but those prices againā¦
As a protection against spammers a wait or restriction on your account is not uncommon these days.
Ok maybe that's it. It was the word "banned" that confused me.
Official Announcement from MOOG on X about recent events.

I like how they released their statement at 10 pm US central
Look at the comments. PR disaster.
I donāt even want to lol
Does it matter at this point? The deal is done.
PR disaster? Storm in a teacup.
A relative handful of people compared to the overall market actually care about or even notice any of this. Actual significant impact on sales? I doubt it. Even if it does result in a measurable decrease in sales, each of those sales of expensively built units wasn't generating enough revenue to sustain their cost. They're better off financially without those sales. Or maybe less worse-off is more accurate.
If Behringer can continue profitably after the PR shit they've stirred, inMusic has little to fear.
I'm not saying I like any of it, in fact I hate it. It's bringing up depressing memories of all the layoffs I had to help in carry out over the years. But it the overall scheme of things this is important to very few people out of the overall market. And it's inevitable when markets change and companies can't adapt.
Cynical? Yeh, I guess I am.
But I also don't think I'm wrong.
No, the decisions were never mine to lay off people, but being part of management, and responsible for data security, I had to be the guy shutting off accounts and often escorting people to their desks to pack their stuff and escorting them out of the building. And yes, there were far too many times I had to participate in who to let go. It felt like shit. It sucked more than anything I've ever had to do.
I can't think of any times it could have gone differently and still keep the doors open and keep the jobs of the remaining people though.
New video: Why Moog Died
Gotta watch this later, love Bennās videos.
Great video from Benn, as always!
Guy is top dawg among analytical music youtubers for me, no question
Too long. Coulda been summed up in a few paragraphs.
I did make it about 2/3 of the way through. But otherwise a great waste of time.
Well done I suppose, but I just donāt have the patience to slog through the rest. How do you guys stand plodding through 18:50 minutes to absorb what could be communicated in under 30 seconds? šš¬
Likable and well spoken guy though, and do find myself entertained for awhile wondering what happened to that left eyebrow.
Are eyebrow slits still cool 2023?
The eyebrow slit, popular in the '90s and inspired by R&B, rock, and hip-hop music artists, has made a comeback. The social media platform TikTok rebooted the edgy eyebrow slit trend in 2020-2023, which resonated with a lot of people and has become one of the most popular eyebrow trends of the year.
This is why I frequent this place... what other music forum keeps me informed on eyebrow trends?
And yeah, that video was more of a hit job on Behringer than anything particularly insightful regarding Moog.
Benn Jorden is a nobber in it for the views. Dude is delusional.
That guys eyebrow bugs me. Then I saw others with a similar look. I had to investigateā¦
this video definitely had more faff than his usual vids, yes.
that eyebrow thing - pretty sure I remember it is from an accident. iām sure someone who watches more youtube will know.
in general, Iām with Wim actually, if I want info, YouTube is not usually where I go, Iād usually rather read something concise. If I want entertainment, Iād rather listen to a podcast, give my eyes a rest, or at least just watch a movie
The eye brow is a scar from his MMA days years ago, no joke.
Influencers seem to be ganging up on Behringer at the moment, this is the third Iāve seen.
I donāt know if anyone is āganging upā on Behringer, but with their CEO it seems like theyāve certainly earned the ire. Itās one thing to offer knockoffs of old synths and quite another thing to aggressively attack customers.
Apparently Behringer was offered Moog and turned down the purchase due to Moog being a luxury brand, out of the price range of Behringer customersā¦
inMusic isnāt exactly known as a holder of luxury brands. I suspect theyāll attempt to meet Behringer on their terms with new products, eroding Behringerās market dominance and possibly undermining their own seal of quality at the same time.
I agree, but still it would appear to be a combined concerted effort by several influencers.
Behringer and Moog:
https://synthanatomy.com/2023/10/ex-moog-ceo-mike-adams-offered-uli-the-moog-brand-to-buy-says-behringer.html
I donāt see them as direct competitors, certainly not yet, donāt think Behringer have any āsamplersā as yet, certainly nothing rivalling the MPCās market. I would say Elektron, NI or Ableton are more peer rivals.
There are limited number of companies which couldāve bought Moog out. Whatās the point of Behringer admitting theyāre so low-rent they couldnāt afford Moog? Makes them look bad, not Moog.
