This is EXCELLENT btw
I don’t have Combuster but I have just sent some drums and synths through the Drambo Impaktors preset which yielded some pretty nice results but it’s admittedly better suited for drums and synths presets with attack. It doesn’t resonate very well with long decays. Wet/dry can be achieved via bussing the signal to a second channel. Overall it’s rather subtle although you can push it quite a bit.
But after watching Doug’s demo one must concede that Combuster really gets down to business and is incomparably more accessible and sonically rewarding in its results.
Oh dear, another plugin that is hard to resist, it just doesn't stop 🤤

If someone doesn’t have Drambo, it makes sense to offer them an effects-only app.
This can totally be done in Drambo. You just need to load Combustor as an AU
LOL. I think they meant a person could create their own “Combustor”-style module in Drambo… without buying this plugin.
Also in more general terms, even if Drambo can replicate something sonically, it doesn't expose any params when hosted as a plugin, which can be relevant for certain effects
Any app that uses resonance definitely requires a limiter (or even better, WooTT).
Never know about those sudden spikes that'll make you jump out of your chair. 😂
Saw a lot of Aphex Twin kind of stuff which is probably a great use for these kind of effects. But it’s too aggressive for me, original sounds that are already aggressive and become even more aggressive.

This was in fact considered but the limiter removed too much of the wild, lively nature of the beast.
Not really. Drambo can do a lot but not the kind of in-circuit loopback done in Combustor.

I love what WOOTT does to the sound and the harmonics it brings out but I only know what it’s doing half the time 😂 great app though.
Would you send reverb through woot?
Maybe resonators can be reverb. Maybe this resonator isnt reverbish.
Not saying you need a midi controller as the app needs to sell
but midi control of resonators is better than degrading sound.
Not saying you cant use limiter or effects with a resonator
but you can tweak resonator as you go.
May as well control resonator otherwise you would have to control, additional effect.

Just a volca drum and drambo waveguide, experienced.
Basically, it squashes the absolute shiz out of a sound in a multiband fashion, lol.
It definitely does that 😂 but the thing I love is you can throw it on any track and all of a sudden all this previously unheard harmonic content comes out of the woodwork. It’s magic, I think lol.
Facts! It's why I use it when I produce in the Justice style. Just makes sounds "in your face", the opposite of Lofi production if you will.
Oooh. I'm off to throw Combustor onto a reverb send! Gonna leave the original alone and f*ck up just the reverb ... or maybe the delay ... or both. 👍🏼
with sines it can do pretty interesting pads, just keep feedback on low, unlike me when i turned on combustor in that sine/noise pad :-)))
it’s amazing how few Combustor instanstances can turn totally boring ordinary loop into something interesting ..

I’m gonna have to try that. Haven’t used it in that style of track yet.
Works great in combination with my Lyra-8. Adds welcomed crevices and reflections to what can be muddy and indistinct.
Nice tool. Really another great piece from the mighty Beepstreet. I use it on my mac within Logic Pro. I also would say never ever use ANY plug-in (especially FX like this) without a limiter. I got in the past some really bad feedbacks which even destroyed one of my speaker once (not one from Beepstreet).
But do not think such things could not happen. I got some bad accidents with modular where the db+ inside Logic showed infinity. Without a limiter it can really be dangerous.
So again, i ALWAYS put a limiter in the master before i do anything.
However, back to Combustor.......it is amazing, especially with sounds which are rich in harmonic content.
To find sweet spots of samples, this setup works great on drambo

choose your own modulation parameters and modulations
But try this setup on any audio and you’ll see (hear) the 3D space you can get from a single formant
