Combustor by BeepStreet (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/combustor/id6449939349

*** Note: Combustor is an Audio Unit effect extension and requires an AUv3 compatible host app, like Logic Pro, Drambo or GarageBand. It does not run as a standalone app ***

Combustor is a unique, wild resonating body fashioned to spice up or extremely transform your tracks. At the heart of Combustor is a custom time bending resonator that doesn't sound like anything you have heard before.

You can create anything from vibrant, distorted texture, perfectly suited for "hardcore" electronic musicians, to subtle physical resonance, which is often lacking in synthesized sounds.

Combustor contains an envelope follower, to create dynamic-controlled pitch or filter sweeps. It also has MIDI input, that controls resonator's pitch, to make something melodic and organic out of non-melodic sounds, like drums.

With just a few knob turns, a boring sound can be turned into screaming madness that sounds like it went out of control.

A simple and straightforward interface makes Combustor a performative tool that allows you to directly interact with your sound.

  • Hell yeah. Beepstreet makes amazing stuff. Wonder when it’ll be dropping.

  • Looks fun

  • Meh, just build it in…
    🤣

  • Is this Drambo?

  • Probably an instabuy for me. :) Not sure what it does, but with only 11 knobs, it should be a breeze to figure out kinesthetically.

  • I like the name ‘combustor’. Maybe it ignites a spontaneous combustion.

  • "Never heard before..." + Beepstreet = instabuy for me. In fact, just Beepstreet = instabuy

  • Please bring this design language to drambo

You could perhaps just build it in Drambo. If your name was Giku 🙏😂

I like the look! Where did you come across this info?

  • What is it?

    Circuit bend effect?

    For samples to sound different?

    An effect for guitars?

  • At first I thought it was a comb filter and was like 'whats an ustor?'.

  • White type on a yellow or orange background is a design no-no. Not enough contrast.

Yeah now that you mention it, those need to be black like the rest of the text descriptions by the knobs

Or put a darker element behind them to make them more legible.

  • Yeah, almost impossible to read the heading on the 3rd panel in particular

I'll vote for all black labels...
    ...we'll see what happens.

I think it looks ace, maybe with black labels, but it looks like it has weight and depth. My lizard brain sees it as a ‘thing’, as I said before… hoping this design comes to drambo 3. Would be ace to have a crazy brightly coloured synth monster

BeepStreet and Bram Bos are always pretty much an instant buy for me.

  • Very much agree with the white font color on the yellow.

  • If you ever deal with midi controllers and app contents pictured, is the full app.

Think combuster above feedbackin black, wouldnt be feng shui.

You will know what the controls do.

Usually white on yellow would be lame

but think for this app, with just a handfull of knobs.

    Is an ok decision.

  • Its like my faderfox pc12.

You buy the overlay. Then need custom stickers for the bottom row and still kinda confusing to think if the overlay writing, means above or below, the knob.

It would be the case with the combuster writing. Not bad. The pc12 isnt bad.

but a worse decision than knowing what the knobs and 4 modules are anyway.

    Its not exactly mirack.

  • I’m in, this looks like a detached module from Drambo with a fresh paint coat?! ;)

  • Gorgeous ui. Wish Drambo looked this good!

    Instabuy obvs.

  • Intriguing, and would indeed be great if this aesthetic makes it to dRambo, and the module too maybe, nice to have stuff in there so it can be packed up in a rack and used in the au…

  • Grey might be nice.

I have no issue with the module colors, just the usability problem due to lack of contrast with white type on light background.
