If there’s a worse song than this…

…I’d like to know about it.

  • How about Guns N' Roses' entire "Chinese Democracy" album?

This one might be a real contender (and it's probably noteworthy that this video has 166 million views on YouTube... Unbelievable):

  • Damn, that was total the video I was going to link to when I read the subject.

😳🤢 Ugh, I can't even make it through 10 seconds of that, lolol. Not gonna lie, Rebecca's "Friday" is very much listenable and enjoyable after being exposed to 10 seconds of "Christmas Macarena". Although in Rebecca's defense, she was a young teen at the time, and her current music and voice have improved drastically.

  • So what makes the Rebecca Black song so bad to you guys? The lyrics? The singing voice? The song structure?

I feel the song follows a simple, basic, and digestible pop format. Nothing wrong with that.

The voice is annoying AF. Even if she could sing without the aid of an auto tuner affect, her tone is still bad enough to make me want to snap my own neck.

The lyrics scream privilege to me. She’s singing about affluent kids hanging out.
Sounds very naïve and superficial though. I’m certain they do more nefarious things on the weekends, such as snorting Adderall and beating up homeless people. But I’ll error on the side of caution, and take her account of a typical weekend at face value. And if it’s true, I guess it’s good that not everybody in the world is struggling for survival?🤷‍♂️

Hahahaha!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I can't breathe. That's still better than Christmas Macarena, because at least this one makes me laugh.

(Full disclosure: I really like this. And now, thanks to @jwmmakerofmusic , also: The Shaggs.)

And am I right in thinking that that godawful On The Floor thing is actually part of a genre where people sing off and high deliberately? I’m, er, not ‘down with the kids’ enough to be sure…

Update: apparently it is a thing, at least in Japan. Obviously.

Of course on Cobain’s top albums of all time list… the story of the Shaggs is fascinating. :)

  • I’ll write far worse music than the Macarena all day long if it comes with the paycheck the Macarena had.
Most people get mad at awful music/meme music cause it has 1mil more clicks than what they worked on seriously for months.

Oh yeah, The Shaggs, believe it or not, their album is in Curt Cobain's top five all time favorites and Frank Zappa said they were better than the Beatles. Their music falls into the "Outsider Music" genre. If you are interested, here is more information about it:

There are also quite a few playlists on YouTube with Ousider Music, these songs all fit into this thread 😀😀😀

It takes some serous skill to do this kind of cacophony, I reckon. It’s like a pop version of minimalist phase music, lol

They were all untrained, self-taught and pushed into making music by a domineering father. It's a depressing story, but their misery certainly resulted in something real.

If someone here released an iOS production like this, I'd call it genius. Well, actually, it is rather experimental and cool.

  • And, while of course the lyrical content is outdated, it's still a classic song that was then mangled into dog feces by whoever produced this cheesy 80s vomit remix. 😂

I’d rather listen to the Shaggs on a 24/7 loop than have to listen to this:

    Or this:

Either could be considered to be responsible for the death of rock and roll.

Maybe the death of 80s-styled Rock n Roll, but you have amazing gems like these that came after the 80s...

  • What some people qualify as bad, other qualify as genius, such as Hatebeak:

Hatebeak is an American death metal band, formed by Blake Harrison and Mark Sloan, featuring Waldo (b. 1991), a grey parrot. Hatebeak is reported to be the first band to have an avian vocalist. They never tour so as to not torture the bird. Hatebeak is signed to Reptilian Records. They released the album Number of the Beak on June 26, 2015, through Reptilian Records.

I saw prime Black Flag and that lineup of
“The Clash” on the same night (different venues)
    Black Flag did not disappoint.
