  • Didn’t mean to put anyone on any uncomfortable spot or anything, just paying respect to very helpful members insights. My bad to anyone that didn’t appreciate shout out

I mentioned in sales thread I kind of have all needs for any synths or instruments or effects, and all I really “need” was a mastering app, (clearly trinity is the one to get when the time comes otherwise I’d was gonna grab GF2 ,)but it was buttersynth that probably made me feel complete with instruments and synths, for a very long time . I can’t see myself getting more out of one synth but I’m a fan so hope you’ll get more out of it

Exusing for thanking, thats's a new one, Are you gonna cover their music because the similar apps?

What's your story bro? Why do you feel the constant need to be snarky?

You could’ve just asked, or on the side in a message, but to make me feel unoriginal or stealing for trying to be learning from better people than myself isn’t cool

I was honest when I said I just learned about synths so I have searched and tried to learn from the best of sounds and artists that I like and members that were kind enough to take the time for someone ignorant to teach me (I don’t buy EVERYTHING, just a lot this summer)

It has been a short but massive journey and iOS is a small community of music but that means so many know a lot already that I could skip from trying square 1 learning

    That’s why I joined
    To Learn

Because it's complete novel approach to me and i wondered what benefits it could have. Sorry for asking too snarky, i will tone it down, sorry if it offended you.

That’s good of you, we all have our off-days

Without any doubt, you should have ButterSynth on your list, @Antos3345

My to-go list are those Synths outside of folders:

I may be able to reduce this list even further, but BS has a premium place already - it will sure not be removed or replaced.

Respect for Nambu on your list, 🫡 thought your favorites would be more conservative ones.

I am bothering him often to release it already 🤣.. he is a kinda perfectionist but hope the update (which includes also iphone version) is now really close cause this logic bug is unlikely to be fixed anyway, cause it’s logic what crashes here, not BS

In a way, this is good news to me, because I have one good project in Logic halted while waiting for an update. No more waiting, transferring everything in AUM/Drambo. Thanks for the info, you are the king! 👍

  • Buttersynth is fantastic! I was on the beta for a very long time and it was so great following its development. Highly highly recommended, for sure one of the best on iOS.

    Yep.

Have zero understanding for the less enthusiastic views about this Synth.

I think i kinda understand. For people without deeper sound design knowledge, synth of BS type may be just too complicated at first look.

If you are the type of musician who just want randomly tweak few knobs without deeper thinking what they do, to hear what it does and decide if you like that sound - i can see how simple synths with just bare minimal of controls may be more appealing.

There is quite a lot of presets but maybe if somebody is into some kind of sounds which simply aren't covered by factory presets, then I can see how general feeling from synth may be "it's too complicated and sound isn't any special" .. To really appreciate synth of BS range you simply need certain level of sound design knowledge to see how it is unique.

Also it's very dependent of which musical genres you are interested in. There are sound-design heavy genres (harder branches of drum&bass, edm) where you can really appreciate BS complexity and quality, and there are other genres, where are simply diffrent priorities than having great souding oscillators and filters with tons of odulation capabilities and deep control over modulation ..

People have just different priorities and most importantly different skill level to actually explore synth and all it's capabilities.

  • I bought Buttersynth a while ago, and it’s really a great synth, but, I have it on pause until we get an real update…

I don’t understand them, it's best served hot with a decent cup of tea. Maybe they should try coffee instead?! 😂

  • I have and like it but it doesn’t show up in Logic Pro for me which is a real bummer for me

I can use Buttersynth in Logic Pro (if I wish) - iPad Pro 12.9” M1, iPadOS 17 beta 2…

    What’s your setup?

I can totally see that. Me, I like both. Sometimes I wanna dive deep and make some patches for fun (or for a track) and sometimes it’s nice to have a synth like Krill or Zeeon where it’s a bit more limited but quick and easy to get a good patch going. I usually don’t like to use factory presets in my tracks, so I’m much more of a fiddler.

yeah of course .. or Hilda for example - relatively simple synth (all knobs on one page) but huge sonic posibilities …

Exactly. Hilda is up there with BS (imo) as one of the top synth apps on iOS. It truly feels like I’m working with hardware.

I actually figured it out, I was searching for the developers name listed on the AppStore, “Arto Vaarala”, but in Logic it listed under “Kirnu”. When I use it in AUM I just type Buttersynth in the search window.

Yeah, Apple decisions to sort AU-instruments/Plugins alphabetically is really weird!!
Hopefully we get an change there in next update, or at least a choise in the settings…

  • Still exploring synthesis, and lately Tera Pro and Tomofon, can ButterS do something Tera can't? Might be obvious but never really read up on Bsynth. Just curious if it opens up a new way to mash stuff/operators(?) {also messing with Nambu lately so still thinking of FM operators being able to be swapped out vs just standard having only a couple oscillstors}

  • Problem I'm seeing with Buttersynth is the AU plugin (in iPadOS GarageBand) will not retain my customized settings in the project. Upon reopen of the GB project the synth reverts to a default patch sound, losing all of my tweaks and not sticking with the specific patch I had chosen...

    Anyone else have this issue?

I haven’t had the issue within AUM but haven’t tried GB. I can give it a whirl and report back later if you’d like!

I'm tempted since it's on sale, but honestly, I need another synth like I need another spleen.

Anyone care to tempt me by telling me how my life would be vastly improved by adding Butter Synth when I already have most of that ground covered with Nambu and Tera Pro? I'm not seeing it just from the specs.

    Wavetable editor! ;)

  • thanks @Luxthor - I hadn't thought about that. There have been a few times I wished I could play around with editing wavetables.
