Sorry, I'm not hearing what you're trying to highlight. Maybe someone else can.
You cant hear the metalic at start of the bass?
Maybe its the waveforms.
You can filter it though.
I do see a little bit aliasing on the oscilloscope.
I guess it's one of those rare times when old-man ex rocker destroyed hearing is a plus.
lol.
App seems cool.
Were testing 808 and shockwave.
This should be better.
Is there an algorythm to key presses.
Vibrato of oscilators depending on key timing.
and pan.
Sub bass. If you pan slightly. You get pan sweeps, with key press.
Please leave that little boogie beast dude alone.
It would be so great if he could do his thing to the dialed in tempo.
+1 (One step per beat, some other movement like slash every other bar and some other minor things at 8th and 16th notes etc.)
🤖📈 Warning! Strong occurrence of sarcasm in the area detected! 😂
Indeed, if there's a 'Mascot' in the an app it better integrated 'all in'. Tap, tap, tap on it and it will get 'angry' and increase the 'heat' / 'distortion' or 'pet it with finger swipes' and it will get soft and mellow
Like, if the subbass gets really heavy, he soils himself.... Genius!
Great, now you broke my sarcasm measuring device! 😂
I suppose you all will start hating on Bebot next.
Also, what’s an 8th note?
We were joking about the cute King mascot, kind of a celebrating new app. 😅
No way, BeBot will remain on my iDevices for as long as it works and it would be a perfect AUv3 and AUv3 Midi Controller
I can accept that!
A big thanks to you both!
+2 I really like the little mascots but I want to make them DANCE!
Not sure if anyone’s answered but I haven’t checked the CPU in depth. It didn’t seem to use up very much but I’ve only used 1-2 instances at once so far. I can check later on tonight and let you know!
@AnalogMatthew
Is anyone experiencing crashes with King of Bass and King of FM? I was using both on my iPhone 7 ios14.8 stand-alone and created some presets. Went to have dinner and both of the apps will not start in stand alone mode. They both crash after around 2 seconds of showing the synth.
Both the apps work in AU mode in AUM and Cubasis so I was able to save my presets.
I restarted the iPhone and reinstalled both apps, then re-imported my presets and both apps crash again.
Other AudioKit apps work fine.
Is it something that I’ve done with my presets?
Any ideas?
Edit- just tried on my iPad 6th gen iOS 15.7.1 clean install make some presets then it starts crashing in stand alone mode. Works fine in AU mode.
The filter cutoff reacts super slow, is this by design?
If it is i think the lfo visualization should reflect this, because the knob is visually at 0 but thr sound is not completely out.
If i assign a downward saw lfo to it, it doesn’t react at all for speeds over 1/16
Also i have 5e lfo to run once and when I release the key it goes up… how can i imitate an envelope?
Thanks!
I'm only showing 5 crashes total worldwide for the latest version of King of Bass (v1.1, which may make it the most stable app in history?)
But, I believe you. If we can determine what's causing your crashes, that would make the apps even more stable. The first crashes you're experiencing might be related to iOS 14. If you're able to send me a screen recording or detailed steps on what happens to make the iPad 6th gen crash, that would be helpful, matthew @ audiokitpro.com
Thanks again!
I would probably send crash-reports if I was able to make the thing crash but so far it's proven to be a quite challenging task
@cokomairena - Thanks for all your feedback in this thread. It doesn't have a filter envelope. One of the things you may be describing is because it uses snapback LFOs like the analog synth that inspired this app (more on that in video below). And, as mentioned earlier, I'm working on different solutions for LFOs.
"cutoff knob is visually at 0 but thr sound is not completely out"
Yes, this is part of the 'secret sauce'. The filter doesn't go to zero, but stops at 60hz, so what you're hearing is some sub-bass groove in the app even when the filter's fully closed. The 60hz bottom and filter slope are designed by the producer (and a code developer for a respected hardware synth brand we worked with) to make it super fun & easy to get radio-ready bass sounds. It's a bit of a sweet spot. King of Bass brings a fresh twist for Bass design.
And folks, I appreciate all the feature requests (my email and DMs are full, ha!) and a friendly reminder that if you're looking for the most advanced traditional synth engine/controls in a bass synth - I'd recommend grabbing Jakob HaQ's excellent Agonizer or that new bass synth from ToneBoosters, which sounds excellent. KING OF BASS is a different Beast all together. It's not designed to be like every other synth, if you're looking for that, there's other excellent options in the appstore. Thanks again!
There were vibrato or tremolo via key to key before update. Maybe it were poly?
Dont know about that.
but theres cross vibrato or tremelo when a blend of oscilators which is cool. When you tune an oscilator.
but can you turn it off sometimes ?
Not sure I need wobble sub bass or if without. You do seek variations ( soundwise ) without the vibrato. On sub sub basses.
What am I talking about.
Tuning is just the keyboard really and lower pitches slows down the oscilator. Presenting the wave.
I get it.
I'm not talking about the bottom limit in Hz of the filter, but that the knob is visually at 0 (or 60hz) but is more open and it takes a while to catch up.
Y0u can even get this if you move the filter knob by hand, the filter lags behind and it takes a moment to catch up.
Also the fact the lfo stop working with speed 1/16 and over seems like a bug to me.
Thanks for your answers! I like the sounds of KOB, I just want to understand what a bug and what's a feature lol
Dosent seem like I can key fast sub bass.
Without the adsr failing or giving different attack time because of note blends ?
or if its actually a better trait.
Dosent happen with shockwave.
Can you report this please?
Thanks @cokomairena, I understand now and will look into all these things 👍
Update, you're right that the Filter could be more performant. It sounds amazing. But, it could be snappier!
I believe I can improve it. It may take a couple of weeks with all the other updates/dev on my plate. But, I believe the work will be worth it for this and future apps.
No rush at all, thanks for listening!
Situation with ‘release ghosting’ is still present in patch v1.1. Just reporting, can anyone else confirm?! Also found some weird spacing (random changes) in the release signal trail.
