This is not only a lie, but plain wrong on every level. I don’t know what kind of society you strive for, i definately wouldn’t want to be a part of it.

    Sums up my feelings perfectly.

A question to those against government regulations to protect the environment: Do you believe in global warming at all? If you do then how would a world run by businesses possibly cope with this problem?

This isn't just about batteries, it is about not scrapping perfectly good CPUs .The carbon footprint of these is astronomical and not something that can be offset by recycling the raw materials. Fabbing/etching these CPUs is an incredibly resource-heavy process.

Would you be surprised to learn that the largest polluter in the world is China? And they don't follow the regulations of the US or the EU in their country. Even if you somehow eliminated all pollution in the EU and US it would barely make a dent compared to China.

Except the US and the EU aren’t the ones who are doing “bad”. The point is the EU and US become less competitive and China remains competitive AND they continue trashing the environment.

Anyway, none of this will be solved here. Let’s drop this line of discussion and get back to the music stuff.

China does emit twice as much carbon as the US, but also has 4 times the population. So per capita that's half of what the US does.

Ignoring that, can I summarise your position as:

Global warming is real and nothing can be done about it so we should live like its the last days of Rome (while saying it's someone else's fault)

Well, it is also massively larger in terms of population than the US. Plus, basically western companies are outsourcing their production to China - that's a major factor too in terms of pollution. 'Not in our backyard but fine in someone else's'. That said, the Chinese govt definitely needs to step up its game in regards to the environment. They've been prioritising the economy at the expense of the environment.

As does almost every country, despite the fact that global heating is basically the only thing you read about in the papers that really matters, the rest is noise, in comparison

  • But yeah, let's move on... Otherwise this thread will just get shut down, and we've all been through this before ad nauseum in other threads

For me there is no "getting back to music stuff" with people who don't believe in a minimum wage, or who think shiny new things are more important than the climate crisis.

You are taking an opportunity to drop out because you can't back up your positions.

  • Also, if anyone has any links to $60k unskilled jobs in sweet California, do let me know on the down low, I’ve always dreamed of living there 😄

True, and that's a very common pattern

You calling me a liar? I don't know where you live, but they're hiring people right out of college with no experience or minimal experience (two years) for salaries around $65,000-$100,000 (and up!) in California. A worker with no work experience is unskilled. A person with two years experience is not a "seasoned professional". That would be someone with 10 years experience or more, as far as I'm concerned.

A university graduate without experience is not the definition of unskilled worker btw. Not By a long shot

You took your vague definition and viewed it as more valid than my specific, and more accurate, one, just because you didn't want to admit your misleading / misinformed word choice in your previous claims about workers

  • I'll be waiting. This throw-away culture that people engage in is a retarded waste of resources.
Plus, I like being able to use my stuff indefinitely. I have plenty of gadgets with batteries that could be replaced, but changing them takes technical chops to avoid shorts and ruining it. Definitely holding out for next iphone and ipad before upgrading. Maybe the headphone jack will even return. That would be swell.
