despite outrageous salaries being paid to unskilled workers

This is not only a lie, but plain wrong on every level. I don’t know what kind of society you strive for, i definately wouldn’t want to be a part of it.

You calling me a liar? I don't know where you live, but they're hiring people right out of college with no experience or minimal experience (two years) for salaries around $65,000-$100,000 (and up!) in California. A worker with no work experience is unskilled. A person with two years experience is not a "seasoned professional". That would be someone with 10 years experience or more, as far as I'm concerned.

A university graduate without experience is not the definition of unskilled worker btw. Not By a long shot

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/unskilled labor

    That is incorrect.

We can make a poll about it if you insist. I think for most it is not a controversial term, and is generally well understood

Either the definition matters or it doesn’t.

In addition, why are we still talking about this? Time to move on with other things.

You took your vague definition and viewed it as more valid than my specific, and more accurate, one, just because you didn't want to admit your misleading / misinformed word choice in your previous claims about workers

My previous statements referred to California. Not misleading. It’s different here. Here a high salary doesn’t mean you’re making more because the cost of everything is much higher.

    Not if you're a 'Genius'.

  • Replacing Geniuses is stupid easy. I know from experience.

    Haha.

I would go as far to venture that what the Genius's do now as opposed to 20 years ago, they now qualify as unskilled labor.
It doesnt take a brainiac to put your lapotp in a box and ship it off to the repair depot, or swap your ipad.

But you said it was $49 for Apple to do it 😅

The current price to replace a iPhone 6 battery in the US is 69$. In the UK it is £ 69 for a iPhone 7. They dont work on 6 in the UK.

That’s but I already clarified that.

    I guess I missed your post 👍

Also, if anyone has any links to $60k unskilled jobs in sweet California, do let me know on the down low, I’ve always dreamed of living there 😄

I don’t recommend moving here because of the mismanagement of the state and drastically increased crime, …..,

This is a misleading dystopian take on California.

It’s definitely at odds with what I hear from my Californian friends, and others who regularly visit for work…

  • To some people, California is just a flyover state.

I’ve never seen the State in worse shape than it is now I’ve lived here a long time too. More people living on the streets. Crime has gone way up. Businesses and people leaving (more leaving than arriving).

In fairness, my brothers both see a decline in various things there. They both run bars / restaurants etc and have lived there for a long time also.

The homeless problem has gotten worse around one of their bars, much much worse. The tech companies are mostly not going back to full time office work. Business is still down massively post-covid.

The idea that San Francisco boom days may be over is not a controversial one and I think even news papers like The Guardian have covered this. What might be controversial is your claim that it's due to state mismanagement.

And I'm guessing that your solution, if you have one, would be more controversial. Perhaps not with certain corners of the internet, but certainly on this particular corner of the Internet that we're discussing on now.

I’m sure lowering wages would be great for decreasing crime rates and homelessness.

Back to the battery topic, I have to admit your views on society and government are pretty consistent and aligned with the gadget-battery issue. Don’t intervene or service the product. Enjoy it while it lasts. Just like your city, country, or the world. Don’t change anything, let it die slowly and when it’s done, it’s done.

The state has been mismanaged. That's not really a controversial statement to anyone who lives here.

California's taxes are very high and that's all due to decisions made by the people in charge.

And this story perfectly covers the derelictions of duty of the Governor here:

If you want to discuss batteries, we can do that. What you can't do is read another person's mind, so stop trying to do that.

When workers turn out to be more costly than automation, automation gets the job.

unfortunately this happens in near future anyway, it’s absolutely inevitable, a LOT of people’s jobs will become redundant across all pay grades and specifications. I just hope we as humanity will find solution how to ensure people who’s work will be replaced by advanced robotics and AI will have opportunity to change specialisation or at least we change society in major way that productive work will be not needed anymore for decent life standard…

hard times ahead in next few decades …
