I think it anticipated that until most of the current issues are resolved it is likely to lose its own category status 😀
@richardyot brilliant productivity, you must be chuffed. As I said, it’s 90% good, it’s head and shoulders above any other linear DAW on iOS and shows what can be achieved by concentrating on what it CAN do rather than moaning about its shortcomings!
As I said once in another thread:
Give one person a four-track recorder and a guitar and they will create an album, put that same person in a fully-fledged studio and they will make an even better album. But give those same options to a different person, and they will complain that the four-track is too limited and the studio is overwhelming
Be the DAW!
Having fun experimenting with Sample Alchemy 🤯
I am the DAW
3 months and haven't gotten to SA as of yet... Serato Sample v2 has me digging into Quick Sampler deeper... The 'Touch' does matter.
Apple is probably switching over to a new and improved iCloud server farm to host the new and improved LP4i release which will contain all of the LP Desktop instruments, patches, loops, etc.
Love it!!!!
and ios 17 exclusive
I’m not an Apple or Logic Pro fanboi, however I found amazing that Apple has rolled out such complex software without bugs that require urgent fix.
3 months without update is rather an indicator of how thorough testing they carried out!
I don’t say the UI is the most convenient I’ve ever seen (NS2 UI is still the top), but I can’t see any obstacles that hindered me creating music in LP for iPad. Actually LP inspires me.
there is a few annoying of bugs to fix, they just don’t care )
Yeah unless there’s a mass amount of people unsubscribing or writing into them, they probably won’t be in a rush to put out an update.
There are some bugs, nothing showstopping though.
One annoyance I encounter all the time is that if you convert from the timeline to Live Loops the timing goes all janky. It's happened to me every time I've tried it. The only way to work with Live Loops is to start from Live Loops, if you start from the timeline it never works for me.
This affects audio rather than MIDI, so probably not an issue for people who work exclusively with MIDI. In my case I record a bunch of guitar parts on the timeline and then try to arrange in Live Loops, and that is when I encounter this bug.
I stopped my subscription. I like LP but really miss the MIDI routing you can do in AUM...
I‘m impatiently waiting for an update. I love the ipad version. logic and drambo (bought it just 3 days ago) forced me now to order a big M2 pro to go along with my 11“ M1
I love how fast i‘m able to create raw arrangements in logic etc
BUT mainly two things driving me nuts: the fact that it always forget the window sizes and it forgets different settings as well after using it. i. e the automation toolbar. It ALWAYS switches back to the first tool but the only tool i use is the pencil. EVERY single time i start to work on automation but forget the pencil is not selected anymore
Forgetting window sizes is a big one for me as well. Hoping they’ll work on the UI for stock instruments also
I think Auria Pro is going to make a comeback . I saw a post recently that said it’s being developed and I think this will motivate them to go back to being #1, so maybe it’ll beat Cubasis that had a chance to fix their midi issues so I think Auria Pro CAN retake their crown and also then I can start using it!
Could you imagine Auria pro updates to multi M1 processor iPadOS 16? Does anyone use new (2022 - now) plugins in it successfully ? I’m willing to go to Auria pro if they updated ;; fingers crossed ;;
Do you mean the 11” made you go for 13”? I was wondering if the bigger screen would help with plug-in scale
Maybe check Apple’s official refurbished. I bought a 12.9” M1 from them recently. New battery and outer shell.
Price difference between M1 (refurb) and M2 (new) is quite big.
I want to trader me iPad 11” to 13” . Do you think I should go for apple Best Buy or wait for like promotion when apple gives max value?
yes, thats what i mean. I would love to see more from the arranger window and mixer etc. I would be faster with logic on my mac no doubt. But i‘m having more fun to use it on ipad. I hope at some point we can customize the empty spaces on the toolbar. There is a lot of wasted space and it‘s a bit cumbersome to use always the region click menu.
@R_2 yes, i checked apples refurbished first but no luck. I found another refurbished („like new“ and 30 months warranty) M2 wifi with 256GB for 1230€ thats“okay“ . They became really expensive. I‘m still happy with the performance of my 11“ pro M1 But the the 5th gen 12“ was not THAT much cheaper anyway
Auria Pro is pretty much strictly in maintenance mode..ie. fixing OS related issues when new OS releases break things. Unless the developer has very recently had a change of heart, I would not expect major Auria Pro upgrades.
I suppose that could change if Logic Pro expands the market considerably, but that seems unlikely in the near/mid-term.
000 that’s what it meant: Rim meant the development = maintenance/crash/bug updates - still good news !
Logic updates are usually slow to come even on the Mac. On the other hand, 4i is subscription based so this is rather disappointing since the usual mantra for developers to push subscription is “to encourage continued development”. Specially taking in consideration that Logic Pro prices were always kind of subsidized by Apple because they needed to lure professionals to their ecosystem. The iPad is no cheap machine so I don't get the marketing strategy here 🤔
Auria Pro user here: it has been frustrating since the upgrade to a newer iPad but still my DAW of choice. I have more than 15GB worth of content installed for Auria, so Rim better restart development, lol!
Unfortunately I think Auria is in managed decline. It's still perfectly useable of course, but Logic is much more powerful and flexible already in terms of features: take folders, re-ordering plugins, stacks, much better MIDI editing, better routing and bussing. In time it will get even better.
The only thing I miss from Auria is the audio editing. Logic is OK, but it doesn't have the sample-accurate precision of Auria.
Yes, I doubt Rim will reengage. A bummer, because I’d subscribe for Auria Pro 2.0.
I would happily subscribe to Auria and NS2 if it meant those apps could be continuously developed, but I don't think the market is big enough for that to be viable. Apple can play the long game with Logic, unlike the smaller devs.
I should add another advantage Logic has over Auria: multicore support. You can run much bigger and more complex projects in Logic, without ever needing to freeze or bounce (using an M1 processor).
