Yes, I doubt Rim will reengage. A bummer, because I’d subscribe for Auria Pro 2.0.

I would happily subscribe to Auria and NS2 if it meant those apps could be continuously developed, but I don't think the market is big enough for that to be viable. Apple can play the long game with Logic, unlike the smaller devs.

    Please!
    Don’t give them any ideas!
    $55 with tax is enough.
Just an ios 16 upgrade would be nice :)

The sad reality is that $55 over the lifetime of an app of such complexity doesn’t provide enough income to make development worthwhile. Neither Cubasis nor Logic Pro need to be profitable on their own . They can help drive profitability of other products. Auria Pro and NS2 need to turn profits themselves.

They could add a subscription model for a newer app or even a set of in app purchases (subscribe to a complete sampler, subscribe for track stacks, for pitch correction and so on) I doubt you would lose access to your current app and purchases. So yeah, if subscription would mean Auria going forward I’d subscribe.

This and 55 is ridiculous for a really cutting edge app. We either have a pro app and pay for it or we don’t have it all. We can’t have our cake and eat it to IMHO.

My only guess is because it's subscription and 3 months equals ~$15 or so...
...I'm definitely enjoying Logic Pro for iPad and $15 spent other other stuff would be a few mediocre apps at best :sunglasses:

I am not scorning Logic Pro or anything . I just like to own my software. Cubasis should really be a lot better with MIDI by now you would think. Steinberg might be doing an update AFTERRRRR Logic to make people buy their software instead ?anyway I love all devs for iOS, have nothing against anyone, even apple :)

  • It’s 2023. Subscription is the way forward as long as there is real development going on, otherwise we should be prepared to pay north of $200 for apps like on the desktop (since we now expect desktop performance from the iPad). I prefer a single payment myself but development as all work that’s not a hobby requires incentives.

Know how I solved the problem? I shelled out the money for the desktop version of Logic Pro. A one time fee. Now I'll occasionally start projects on iOS or iPadOS and then final on desktop. This is a solution that works perfectly for me.

Good move : use when you need and cancel when you want

I'm not using LP on iPadOS yet because I still don't have a newer model of iPad Pro, so that's still something off in the future for me. Only desktop.

Agreed. Hard to believe C3 still doesn’t have this simple and, imo, basic feature.

  • One update I hope is coming soon is keyboard track pad support when using external monitor / keyboard. As it is there doesn’t seem to be a way to scale track size

cause logic looks more like half finished beta version, where cubasis may lack some festures of logic but what id there is well polished, stable and straightforward/intuitive in terms of UI

It crashes here and there when using AUs. Everything is saved though (but you better save your AU settings every now and then. They will be gone eventually). I tend to us the included plugins wherever i can. They are great (especially the conpressors) and light on ressources anyway

That's not the point here - he's talking about things like how most of the internal instruments don't even have properly designed UIs but instead have autogenerated UIs that look like shit and, in the case of the complex ones like Sculpture, are not a good user experience to work with.

Calling the Sculpture UI half-finished is actually being pretty generous!

definitely less stable than cubasis.. payed again for one month sub, just to re-evaluate it again and got few crashes even with just stock plugins, mostly during resizing windows

“beta” feeling i have is not kust because of that, but also because of how UI feels “unfinished” in many areas

and we even didn't start talking about just placeholder UI for main sampler or alchemy .. or other things which makes no sense to add them but they aren't ..

  • I think it's a quite safe bet to say that we'll have to wait at least until iPadOS17 drops before we get a Logic Pro for iPad update.

Also I would NOT be at all surprised if iPadOS17 will be a requirement considering that it'll get improved virtual memory management which should in theory reduce the 'jetison' related crashes which happen when memory management bails...

Would I like to see a ton of improvements in Logic Pro for iPad? Definitely!
One of the biggest factors for me personally using it on a daily basis is that it doesn't tickle my 'stress nerve' and I feel calm using it which can't be said about certain other DAWs. One the 'work arounds' are cemented in the spine it just works.

    Have I had crashes? Sure!
Can I easily provoke the crashes? Most Definitely YES!

After creating a bunch of 'track presets' for the multi-out AUv3's using them is as easy as loading any other instrument.

Sure it took some time to set up and could definitely be at least as simple as on Mac Logic (with a simple + in the mixer to add a sub-track to a multi-out capable instrument).

I'm not really bothered by the 'new design' of the stock plug-ins as they are easier on my eyes than the desktop mess with gazillion of knobs cramped into a tiny space.

For me to positives outweigh the negatives by a large margin, but that's just me...

It will be fun to follow in which direction Cubasis goes as well, will it get a 'Sampler Track' is one of the main questions I have.
What about track to track routing and fully featured send busses with return tracks?
Will it get 'audio warping' and 'tempo track'?

My gut tells me that will be reserved for Cubasis 4 which will likely be subscription (or $150 unlock) just like iPad Nuendo...

    Cheers!

Yep! Alchemy as just a preset player...👎👎

I have to admit that Seonn was quite right in his prediction that there would be a lot missing from LP4I compared to the desktop. I suggested at the time that they wouldn't call it Pro if that was the case, but I was wrong. Not what you would expect when they're charging a sub that will generally cost each iOS user much more over a period of, say, 10 years, than what desktop users pay for LP outright purchase. That said, the desktop purchase for Logic is underpriced. However, powerful iPads, particularly ones with 1 or 2 TB of storage, are arguably very overpriced, iOS apps have no resale value, etc etc...

  • Just to confirm @dendy statement. If someone intensively uses third party AUv3, LP4iOS becomes colt roulette. I developed a phobia every time I needed to insert previously not tested AUv3.

If you want to give me an argument like “They are third party software, blame them instead”, then explain to me why the same AUv3 doesn't have any issues with every other AUv3 host on the platform.

BTW, I’m Logic Pro fanboy, subscribed yearly without any hesitation. 🫣

no i mean it literally.. if i would be Dev, i would never release Logic in like it was released, it literally feels to me like devs were far away from done with their job (and especially UI designers if even any was part of team, which looks unlikely to me :-)) and some manager just said "hey guys, we just need to release it no matter in what stage of developement we are)
