I think 20 people is probably pushing it. I was thinking it was less than 10. Bigger teams of programmers does not mean they're getting things done faster. Small, efficient teams are better. Most of the coders I know all say this.
20 people is small team, plus in such team coders are usually aeound 10 persons, then there ia QA/testing team (usually around 4-6 heads to be most effective), plus some manager who makes it all work + ideally alao one or two ux designers (but i can see they probably saved money here in thia case )
Anyway, 20 people is still small team with proper task management and organisation it can work pretty effective and obviously can done more work than smaller team.
Dunno last I heard Dr Gerhard Lengeling the lead Architect is still based in Cupertino..
Chris Moulious who invented ACID Loops then later Apple Loops still in Cupertino
Xander Soren retired last year though I believe he was based in Japan for a good while
Richard Devine full time on the content side might be based in ATL
Also some new people closer to Culver City, CA
Skeuomorphic Reason would make the most sense . When they come out w a new sequencer, that is..
@richardyot I worked out my crashing when closing and opening issue. I removed all the third party plugins out of the project and Everything is good again. I’ve been adding a few back in and it’s still solid. So, for me it appears to be related to a plugin. You never mentioned if you had any plugins inserted, but if you do it might be worth checking them out a little. Hopefully this discovery helps someone.
Yes it's very likely to be related to a specific plugin. There are a few I always use in every project: FabFilter Pro-Q3 and Pro-L2, DDMF Magic DeathEye Stereo and Magic Verb, Toneboosters Reelbus and Morphit, Audio Damage Other Desert Cities.
It's likely to be one of those, but I'm not inclined to investigate, I'd rather spend the time making music because I can live with the problem.
My bet is on Other Desert Cities. AD plugins are one of most unreliable / unstable plugins on iOS, feels like adrenaline activity put AD plugin to project in any DAW, in that case insually save every 10 seconds just to be sure
Maybe - I used and abused that plugin in Auria for years without any issues though. If I have the patience I will try removing it form a project to see if that fixes the issue.
hunch: incoming Apple One option called “Apple One Pro” or “Apple One Creator”
extra 7.99 per month added to your sub gets you FCP and Logic Pro
I would not bet against this. Apple is all about services revenue these days (which makes this Not My Favorite Apple Era, but that’s neither here nor there). I’ve said a couple times and will reiterate here: Logic Pro 11 for Mac, whenever it drops, will very likely be a subscription app.
The Market will decide if that’s acceptable, and if it is, I expect Ableton and other big players to quickly follow suit. Several of them are already down the path (e.g. Roland). Capital is very fond of “recurring revenue” that is predictable.
If that happens I’m getting a refund on the LP for macOS I just bought… I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Out of that list I use the FabFilter plugins and the DDMF MagicDeathEye.
All the best with your creating. I’m glad you are actually spending your time making magic.
My guess is that MagicDeathEye could be the culprit then.
I’m thinking that too. I might try it out tomorrow and see what happens.
My 2 cents on this: I tried the free trial and loved the features. Overall it was really good, but wouldn't say great. However I was hoping in regular updates (every 6 weeks roughly) which hasn't happened. At the same time I basically would have used it maybe once or twice in the last few months, so the yearly subscription wouldn't work for me. Monthly one maybe, but I could end up buying it and then be busy for 3 weeks and not be able to use it.
All of this to say I'd like a "lite" version that you can unlock with a one off payment. No additional sound packs or other things they might release periodically with the subscription and potentially an in app purchases to get to the latest version after major upgrades (e.g. to v2) when a new feature is released that I care about (I'd pay extra for built in midi export)
+1 I am with you all the way on your experience with it. Ditto. I love this payment concept John. Now that I'd do. Cheers, ED
I definitely wouldn’t expect updates every 6 weeks from any company lol. Often there doesn’t NEED to be an update for months at a time if there are no bugs or new features. I’d like to see a Logic update soon though, but I’d be very highly surprised to see apple update it more than twice a year unless there are some huge bugs.
GarageBand isn’t far off as a kind of lite version but still not quite the same. I some times go almost a month without using it but then I’ll use it multiple weeks at a time almost every day. So it balances out for me.
i‘m still waiting for THE update to drop today. Don‘t disappoint me Tim! I love this app (especially on my new 12,9 ) but it HAS some flaws that need to get fixed.
iOS 17 drops today. I’d be pretty be surprised if an update for Logic dropped too.
I’m going to give it a couple of weeks before getting impatient.
In the meantime Logic for Mac could do with some fixes too… the latest version on Ventura is probably one of its least reliable combinations for a very long time. Not awful, just not 100% plain sailing.
I have a feeling we'll get a simultaneous iPadOS & Mac update when MacOS Sonoma drops on 26th...
Let’s hope that our anticipation and wishes do not come to this:
My optimism is still strong! 🤥
Yeah, Apple making a pretty damn poor case for the subscription model here.
Maybe it’s not what you wanted after all and head back over to [insert your previous DAW here] 🫠
Well knowing the LP for Mac update cycle it might take a year to get a bigger feature update. Only smaller bug fix updates come out more often. At least on Mac the annual update has always been worth the wait. But there also isn’t a subscription plan.
They really should drop the subscription plan on iPad. They would have more money upfront and less pressure to develop.
Yeah I’ve already went back to Cubasis 3. Now im eagerly awaiting Cubasis 4 😂
Yeah they’re really making themselves look bad with the subscription model because people are going to want more big and more frequent updates to justify a monthly expense. If they don’t release one by the end of the year I can see a lot of people jumping ship. I already did albeit for different reasons. Though lack of updates didn’t help.
This is the kind of thing people said for years waiting for Logic in the first place... and for those awaiting Cubasis 4, adding a tempo track has been acknowledged on their to do list for over a decade now and is said to be 'some way off' still. I just try to enjoy what I've got, there are so many different things to explore.
iPadOS 17.1 should drop next week.
We’ll see if Mac Logic 11 will drop at the same time…
