I'm kind of wowed by that motion detection video, not necessarily because I've never seen anything like it before, but because, there's not so many steps in the video from the source to the result, and I want to play with that and have fun.
Will it be possible to extract modulation from video, we can use on audio?
Is any of the betatesters on a standard gen9 iPad? How does it hold up?
I was skeptical before this demonstration, but this looks like an easy and straightforward design. 🤩 It features a solid implementation of video capability in a modular environment, not to mention the possibility of custom MSL import. There is no doubt that this update marks a wonderful new chapter for dRambo and the dRambonauts!
@0tolerance4silence Thanks.
Got a gen6 and a gen9 iPad here, it totally depends on the complexity of the patch and the number of iterations in a loop etc. but most patches still run well on a gen9 iPad, even on a gen6, simple racks can work quite well.
In the end it's the screen size that matters, and you can always either:
A newer iPad probably won't be worlds of improvements, the latest and biggest Macbook Pro (M4max) however makes quite a difference when fullscreen is required. When making screen recordings on the Macbook, the challenge wasn't to show the video but rather to compress the recorded video stream in full resolution and frame rate 😂.
Gosh.
I never said the images here were overly done.
Just because I’m not a fan of AI, like yourself, doesn’t mean that I have to be so bigoted as to not admit when something produced with AI is actually good. There are always exceptions which prove a rule.
I’ve repeatedly said that I happily accepted reports from beta testers that this feature allowed a lot more freedom than I initially feared way, way back in this thread. Check back, it’s true. Then others kept responding to posts I’d made. I consider it polite to respond back if that happens. I’m not trying to be combative and i’m really upset that you think so. I’m very sorry.
Yo what? This is incredible.
Here I was waiting patiently for midi feedback implementation and you've gone and added visuals and video processing. In the most accessible modular environment I've ever used.
Just insane.
Looks like touch designer is gonna take a back seat for a bit.
@rs2000 thanks, sounds good.
I completely agree, the fact that Drambo went in this direction in the first place did make me go wow - I wasn’t expecting it at all.
I want to make it clear, I’m not a fan of AI, nor am I easily wowed by something new. I’ve been miscast in that respect. The video I referred to was indeed the only one I’ve seen which I did, begrudgingly, think had genuine value.
I have located the thread with the video. You can all make your own minds up and probably berate me again.

Listen, everyone here, I’m really sorry, I seem to have ruffled some feathers and that was never my intention. I made a comment based on the videos posted, that’s all. I fear my comments have been interpreted with a ‘tone of voice’ attached which I haven’t actually had in mind when writing them.
I shall enjoy exploring this new feature when it arrives, although I must admit I feel as though I’m somehow not allowed to following the reactions in this discussion - I feel a bit like I’m now a Drambo outcast.
@rs2000, sorry if I offended you, you have been enormous help to me in the past with Drambo help which I will be forever grateful. @giku_beepstreet, I am a huge admirer of Drambo so my sincere apologies if my comments have appeared to rain on your parade here - the conversation was done way back for me but then people kept on commenting - sorry.
I think I’m done with this forum for a while. Best wishes to all.
One more thing: nothing is hardcoded. Every preset you've seen was created in Drambo, either by using other modules or through live coding.
@Robin2 You absolutely didn't offend me (welcome to 2025
, love!
@Robin2 No worries!
I didn't feel any offense at all, and my question about what makes you go "wow" was a serious one, because I have no idea what your personal taste is like. Without a hint or an example from elsewhere (like shadertoy.com etc.), I find it hard to suggest anything 😉
Shadertoy.com has an incredible collection of exceptional shader creations and some of them have served me as my reference to aim at. Sometimes it's doable, sometimes it appears to be close to impossible, but at least I had a clear picture of what to try.
Cheers!
This will change the game. Even if you don't program it's so easy to just map and envelope follower or lfo to any parameter that you can make any preset yours.
I really see VJs using this live, is just bonkers
I hope we see a lot of presets!
That motion video has moved me from "Wow that's gonna be cool." to "Woah! I can't wait for this."
I'm glad to see it runs in the AU as well. Not surprised that the video size makes a big difference in processing power needed.
+1 also wondering whether offline rendering in full resolution will be available.
Perhaps live camera input is possible? That could be popular for the VJ crowd.
@giku_beepstreet @rs2000 Thanks.
Curious if this will be IAP? (Which I would happily pay for.)
Yes an IAP, reasonably priced.
Amazing looking update. Unexpected but very welcome. I reckon this is going to be huge. I’m going to have to get an iPad now though, probably about time…
Looks like Dambo now supports multicore... is that so?
Welp, removed due to whatever
Is this beta safe?
Too bad ... I thought the new functions make it necessary ... later I read that this is all GPU magic…
I’m a jazz musician and in this visual world I can’t really listen to just an audio track anymore ..The motion effects and whatever else is going on there is inevitable…Apps and DAWS really need to not be so audio centric..This is the future ..Drambo is going to be fast passing a lot of major players in audio with this..Inspiting
