When did it come out?! Just noticed it has already been released, would have expected more fanfare
Today, midnight..
I don't know why I want this. I can't draw and I already have too many things I want to do. It's definitely one of those situations where I think if I just buy this app suddenly I'll be more visually creative.
You’ll definitely want a pencil, and while you can import graphics to puppet animate with, it’s really good at the drawing side of things. Definitely a learning curve but it’s pretty damn good so far…
I do not understand the pre-order ordeal, money was drawn from my account today so what benefit can it be for the developer? Especially strange when there's no discount involved.
Check out the video I posted on the previous page, that should tell you if it's a workflow that could suit you. And Krupa's statement about a pen is spot on.
I think because it guarantees a lot of sales on release day without people having to remember to manually purchase, which helps ensure high appstore ranking, in turn bringing more free publicity.
So I've been trying it out for a couple of hours and the principles are pretty sound and easy to grasp but I really don't like the timeline idea, it's like a freaking jellyfish to work with. Rewind to start is a gesture instead of a button (except in fullscreen) and I would have preferred the latter. The integration with Procreate is absolutely awesome and a big advantage.
It's a new way of working and it will take some time, but, that's usually the case so ..
Same opinion here
Yeah same here, it’s not perfect, but it’s definitely shifting some gears
I think it'll be more mature quickly enough. I remember the early days of Procreate—was not very impressed with the app then, but today it's one of the best drawing/painting app. So I have high hope for Dreams too.
Haha, the exact problem I have here is that you need to expand all transform modifiers, select the target one, create a key in the right position, and then do tweaking. Is there an immediate mode?
Edit: The solution is simple: stay in “performing” mode and drag “playhead” slightly up for new action.
Is anyone having issues with exporting? I got it to work once but I’m having major issues, maybe I need to free up more space but I’m not having any issues with exporting from Toonsquid, which incidentally I bought because I thought Procreate Dreams wouldn’t run on my IPad and turned to be a pretty nice app. Procreate Dreams will definitely take some getting used to, I know it’ll be great in the end but I would really love to be able to easily export my work , which isn’t the case for me right now. I’m on a 2020 IPad Pro running the latest OS and it feels pretty smooth otherwise
Same here. Restart and reinstallation of the app didn’t resolve the issue. I am also using the same iPad (12.9) with plenty of space. The issue has been well reported on their forum as well. Hope they come out with the quick fix.
Thanks, I guess I’ll just learn the app more and get comfortable with it in the meantime , hopefully it gets resolved soonish
The long and the short of it: Good animation is difficult, no matter how good are the tools. Hopefully this gets more people interested in the art of hand drawn animation, but I think it’ll just remain a curiosity for most of the purchasers. Is the developer hosting a site featuring best-of-the-best animation tests?
Glad to see that everybody else with an iPad like mine is having a problem like I’m having. ❤️ I hope they can get it fixed. Image export works fine, but I don’t want to have to import individual frames in a video editor.
The quick fix to this issue, according to the procreate forum (which I tried successfully too) is to export in ProRes 422 mode. It gets exported as video quickly in that case.
Impressive! That worked perfectly. Thanks ❤️❤️❤️
Update is out
was hoping for usdz import and keyframing but no cigar
I’m very impressed but, wow, I’m glad there’s a manual online: the user interface will no doubt become brilliant once I’m used to it, but not having watched any tutorial videos before jumping in, it’s not what i would called intuitive. Options accessed by tapping on this or that with no indication that those things can be tapped on.
Of course it’s not a big deal, but I’m surprised that they didn’t have one of the included examples projects as an animated guide to the interface?
Good shout. Perfect opportunity missed there.
Does anyone know how to solo (show only) selected animation track or group?
I can see only individual checkboxes for groups or items and show all / hide all. Nothing in the manual either.
how cool is that: Procreate Dreams enhances your quality of life.
It’s been out for about a week now. How is everyone feeling about it? I’m certainly tempted. I have a couple of ideas I want try with it.
Good to see this roadmap thread on their forum. Worth a look if you feel something is missing from Procreate Dreams.

I made this dRambo gif six days ago. It’s simple and easy, if you like Procreate, you will not regret it. It’s made for simple old-school animations. Like Procreate, Dreams hide almost everything, so you will need to memorize features and tools hidden beneath long taps. Also, for anything advanced, you will need to organize complex grouping networks.
Hmm. That’s a use case I hadn’t really considered. I wonder if people are aware of how much those standalone GIF making apps cost? They’re all subscription based! Outrageous!
Excellent point! That dRambo gif is cool!
Thanks! I’ll probably grab it around Christmas time. With the holidays (and mine and my wife’s bday coming) I won’t have much time to sit down and really learn it but after all that’s over and done I’ll probably grab it and get going.
