Welcome to the ABF mate. Also thank you so much for the useful info. Looks like I can turn off two-finger undo/three-finger redo under gestures, so that's good enough gestures customization for me, lol. I also read in its appstore description regarding how it handles audio. And next thing you know, I purchased it, lol.

Thank you! Glad to hear that! I spent the evening getting some outlines made after this thread. Lol.

TS for $10 it’s like a no brainer. It reminded me of when I learned about Drambo and then saw the price of $20. Done and done yanno lol.

Like it does so much that’s more than fair. Any desktop like app would cost much more. Plus it helps smaller devs and I’m always for that!

*edit; Just learned you can import .abr photoshop brushes into the app! I’m not sure how I missed that but that’s amazing. I have a ton. This app is so cool lol.

Cheers! Thank you for the welcome.

Refunded Dreams. Just too fiddly for my liking, especially the layer and timeline management. Giving TS a try instead.

What are you using it for? I’m trying decide what to get so I’d love to hear your thoughts after trying TS.

Don’t let them take your Dreams away, my friend, haha! 😂

It's mostly preliminary sketches and timing for 3d (Blender) and just having fun. It's much more immediate to sit and play around on the iPad, than doing it on desktop. I’ve just had a quick play with Toonsquid to find my bearings, and it is definitely easier to use than Dreams, imho. See this for a quickie example  (file is gone in 14 days when temp account expires)
Only thing I could see a use for would be performance mode, but there are workarounds for that.

I can’t help myself, how could I help you? 😂

What I love about Dreams is that finally some company had balls to make something different, easy for painters, and friendly to the platform. It should be called “Dreams come true." What they made is the epitome of modern software development, they are using platform potential to the fullest. You can scrub with a hover on the timeline without any hiccups. You have an infinite number of undos, they are even saved with the document. You can import four 4K video tracks, skew them, and deform them. The project can have 200 tracks. Layer modifiers work flawlessly, the clipping feature works recursively on groups, perfect touch gesture controls, etc.

I’m also sorry for everyone disappointed with Dreams, but thats life. There are plenty of apps on the market already, no one will be left out. Also, supporting one-man developers like Squid App is always a good thing, especially if you like that kind of workflow.

What it is is ableism on Savage Inc's part. It's exclusionary to those with medical conditions which cause their hands to shake, requiring them to rest their palms on the side of the screen. It's also exclusionary to people like me who have oddly shaped palms. This is the whole reason I fought for the option to turn the gestures off in Procreate until it was added in.

Sorry, it's not "that's life", a dismissive phrase often used to discount the experiences of those who aren't "atypical". It's called "Savage Inc didn't learn from the past to try and include everyone".

No, I'm not gonna pull out an imaginary team of lawyers like a certain person named after a certain German capital. 😂 I got my refund, and I expressed my severe disappointment to two of my contacts within Savage Inc.

I think I understand why you are so upset, the phrase was used for the app likeness, nothing more. Don’t forget the language barrier, we are using this phrase in a completely different context. I apologize if I hurt your feelings with anything I said, it was not intentional. 🫶

I did quick research, and yeah, using this phrase in certain contexts could lead to disaster. We use this phrase usually when you want something but can’t get it. For example: “I should drive a Ferrari, but that’s life!" 😂

Thanks for sharing this. That makes a ton of sense. I know we chatted a bit on this thread and I mentioned my admiration of the double/triple tap and then you were looking to turn em off.. I wondered why but I figured it was something to do with ability to. It's nice to know this now as to when I can look at apps I like or don't and wonder if they're thinking of a broad range of users.

Not the same / not comparing - I have super sensitive eyes that can lead to easily triggered migraines, so if an app doesn't have dark mode I just can't literally use it at this point.

Appreciate your input and for helping me broaden my understanding of accessibility. Cheers.

No worries, it’s still capable of doing one 4K with all the necessary animation on top of it. And that’s only if you need to import video in the first place. How is it performing with ToonSquid?

It's also exclusionary to people like me who have oddly shaped palms. This is the whole reason I fought for the option to turn the gestures off in Procreate until it was added in.

Sorry, it's not "that's life", a dismissive phrase often used to discount the experiences of those who aren't "atypical". It's called "Savage Inc didn't learn from the past to try and include everyone".

No, I'm not gonna pull out an imaginary team of lawyers like a certain person named after a certain German capital. 😂 I got my refund, and I expressed my severe disappointment to two of my contacts within Savage Inc.

Cheers.

Of course mate. :) And I know you're not comparing but rather sharing your experience to let me know where you're coming from. What's cool is I learned something about you and @Luxthor today.

And with that said, in your case I'd definitely avoid using Cubasis 3 as I don't recall seeing a dark mode in its options. Logic Pro, FLSM, NS2, Multitrack Studio, Drambo, etc all have darker colour schemes that seem easier on my eyes (even though I don't have sensitive eyes, but I do have misophonia believe it or not, so I'm well attuned to needing things to be easy on my senses).

At this rate I may end up collecting art the animation apps too. Help me 😭😂😂

Always nice to learn a few things about people in good community. Cheers!

Yeah I noticed that about Cubasis and had already written it off because of it. I have ADHD so overthinking and too many choices are always a problem. Once I saw that it made it easier. Drambo / Koala / AUM are my mainstays. More comfortable in Koala as I’ve had that for a year and a half started playing with Drambo this summer and is one of those apps that I’ll never fully learn which is fine by me.

I’ve been experimenting lately with Voices, Salome, & OtherDesertCities as of late and it’s nice they’re in a dark mode. Haven’t bothered to see if a light mode is available lol.

My past roommate has misophonia. It’s a challenge. That being said they had to deal with my ADHD ass so I can’t say I was a walk in the park always lol.

Totally off topic to this thread so apologies to anyone who’s more focus minded

No worries, it’s still capable of doing one 4K with all the necessary animation on top of it. And that’s only if you need to import video in the first place. How is it performing with ToonSquid?

I typically use 1080p as my default for video and most art as my devices are lower end. Saves on hd and ram and usually good enough for most platforms whenever I decide to actually share my creative endeavors lol.

I haven’t had issues with TS at all but with Procreate and TS I don’t use too many layers as I know the limits. I make simple things in general. Though some of my more abstract design desires are handicapped that I self impose as I don’t want to lose progress just in case if that makes sense.

BTW, thanks for the compliments on the photo. 🤩

Of course! Croatia is on my list of places to visit next time I’m across the Atlantic. I’m going to Germany to visit some family friends in 2025 - if I can make another week work while I’m on that side of the world I’m going there asap.

  • Thanks for patiently answering all my nagging @Luxthor. I do think I’m gonna grab it and Tonesquid after the holidays. Just bought some Christmas gifts for wife and family so any app buying is on hold until after that. I’m really excited about diving in though. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do on the iPad (and I even bought the new pencil a few weeks ago). And it’s fun to learn something new :)

Also @jwmmakerofmusic it does seem a bit ableist on their part. Hope the devs can fix that or if they think the app just absolutely needs those gestures then at least add an option to disable them. Seems like the least they could do.

You know, I became much more intrigued when someone spoke modestly about what they were doing, haha!

Europe as a whole is beautiful and rustic, wherever you decide to go, you will not regret it.

Take your time. I have done a few animated gifs and simple animations till now. I still don’t know how good it is for 3-6 minute music videos. We will soon find out, and then I could write a better review.

Music videos is maybe not the right description. More like weird, short 60 second animations with my weird short music behind it 😂

LOL. I'm a simple man. Just the thought of having my app crash after hours of work irks me lol. I'm semi-close to updating my devices so i'll keep it easy until then.

BTW, thanks for the compliments on the photo. 🤩

It's framed well! Seems utterly peaceful.

Europe is beautiful. Much different from where I am now. I was born in Frankfurt, though, it's been years since I've been back, not since I was in my early teens. I'm excited to be go back.
