  • This dev is crushing it. I requested widgets and he had it up in days. This has now become the best music file manager for iPad/ios. Also compatible with Mac but that isn’t working for me. Could be permissions issues on my end tho.

AudioShare just hasn’t kept up with the times. Hopefully, the dev can create relationships with other devs for the same type of access AudioShare has.

Gotta send another request for an audio analyzer IAP for similar function as Atlas/XO. I’d pay $30-50 for that type of AI sorting/pitch matching of files in folders for quick kick making. I imagine there’s probably some platform he could license to add that. Wouldn’t expect it to be coded from scratch.

Yeah he’s definitely killing it with this app. I haven’t completely converted from SampleCrate yet but I’m seriously considering it. I mostly use it to have web based AU and the read aloud functionality. Have you tried SampleCrate? Curious how they compare. I like the “add to kit” thing in SampleCrate.

Yep. Sample Crate is a must have as well imo. Wish I could get it all in one but don’t mind supporting both devs. I use Sample Crate to make kits for my SP and now EPKo2.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the new TE kit once you spend some time with it. I’m tempted but not sure if it does more than I can already do with koala + midi pads. But hardware is fun to have around. I’m trying to hold out to see if audio and midi over usb is added.

SampleCrate has an option when you listen to a sample to “add to crate” which is a classic midi pad grid of all your samples so you could add 16 (or any number) samples to it and export that into something like Koala, Sitala, or a hardware sampler.

That part I can’t answer, I’ve never tried it with any hardware and no longer own my 404 but I would assume dragging them into the devices folder in the files app. I may be wrong here though. Could just be sampling directly in from pre made kits for convenience

I got you. I’ll share my experience and ask any questions I can in the appropriate KO2 thread. @echoopera also has one now and will be shortly blessing us with some videos.

I can tell you that it’s magic is mostly the form and fun factor. It is no Koala, BM3 or SP killer for sure but doesn’t aim to be. I believe it will carve out its own lane. I don’t personally compare software and Hw. Almost apples to oranges for me. Currently, I prefer Hw and mainly use software as sound/midi modules despite loving many IOS/ipad DAWs, groove boxes, loopers, etc.

Re KO2: I recommend only buying from a B&M retailer that you can physically go exchange or refund. There is a very obvious issue with the first batch as evidenced by widespread reports of faulty units. Just want to be clear on that for my own conscious sake. I had to replace 2 units myself.

However, the unit itself gets high marks from me. Super fun and immediate. Great workflow and impressive factory sounds. 🔥

Hi, could you explain for me how to make kits for SP and EPKo2 with Sample Crate?

The bit about EPKO2 was aspirational as I just got it and haven’t gotten to how to install my sounds. Just been learning my way around the device. I just know it’s possible and that I will be doing it often when I do figure out how. I just prefer to learn my devices—and make sure they work before doing the tedious work of allocating which sounds I’ll want. KO2 has limited memory so I’ll have to be very deliberate about which sounds make the cut which I think is a good thing. More focus typically lends to more productivity.

With SP there are several ways. The most robust way is by using the desktop app as it allows you to rename, easily drag to pads, etc. Another way and probably the most popular/SP true way is to sample them in. SP receives audio over usb so you can just connect your device (if usbc, otherwise use line ins) and quickly tap each sound in then later chop to pad. Superquick because SP always listens in for audio (skip back feature).

As @HotStrange mentioned you can also easily organize your kits into wav folders using whatever organizational structure you prefer and just export to SD.

  • @CapnWillie Thanks! I’ve seen where some folks have had issues with the first batch which seems par for the course with TE. I’m still super interested and gonna be watching them closely. As of right now I don’t have a nice fully featured HW sampler anymore. I’m tempted to get another 404 MKII but I always worry it’ll make all my software purchases obsolete lol (though that didn’t happen when I first had mine).

Anyway, I think it looks great and I love the TE stuff. I am/was a big fan of the PO33 so I’m sure this is very good. Does it do audio or midi over usb? Or are you just sampling in with a 3.5 mm dongle.

  • Hi @anhnd101, would it be possible to add multi tab feature to the browser of your Media Assistant AUv3 ?
Here is a cool example how it would be useful. (run synchronized keys and drums web app)

  • Version 1.2.2 released:
I added new sub-application: Audio Tagger

    AUDIO TAGGER
    • Manage audio files with tagging.
    • Support auto-tagging files.
    • Support files in local AAHome, iCloud, Mac, or Windows directory.
    • The audio player supports real-time stretching/pitch shifting.
    • Support dragging and dropping files to other applications.
    • Can run as AUv3 plugin

@anhnd101 Just pm you about some issues.

  • Works well in EG NODES.

  • Ver 1.2.6 update:

    FILE MANAGER
    • Add AAiDropbox which partly supports Dropbox drive.
    • Go to AAMenu > Settings > Dropbox_Accounts to manage your Dropbox's accounts. You can have multiple account to manage

    AUDIO TAGGER
    • Support library from Dropbox through AAiDropbox.
    • To add library from folder in your Dropbox drive, please navigate to Media Assistant root folder > AAiDropbox > YourAccountName > YourFolders

  • Hello @anhnd101
When I tag a file in dropbox. Does it change the file in dropbox or just in the application? (in other words, does it keep my samples synchronized with my dropbox?).
    Thanks!

Hi SamSamSam ! Sorry for my late reply.
At this state, Audio Tagger wont touch your files in Dropbox.
When you add/remove your files in Dropbox, you need to manually tap on the [top-right button] to rescan your library.
For further update, the rescan will happen automatically.

Does your use case require samples to be synchronized with cloud files?

  • No problem. Thanks for the follow up. if I specify the bpm for a file (sometimes, it’s not done automatically), it would make sense to change the file in Dropbox, no?

Yeah, I will sure add this to my working list.

I am having problems loading a different default GM sound font into Media Assistant. Many sf2 files, even “classics” like the Fluid R3 sound font just do not show up in the list that you get when you try to change the default sf2 in the app’s settings.
The only one that works here is called SGM-v2.01-HQ-v3.0.sf2, but it’s over 300Mb.

Or can someone recommend a good quality SF2 that works with MA and is less than 100Mb to reduce memory load?

Still unclear for me : if I buy the Auv3 version can I browse file in auv3 host. Like koala or Onyx does ?
What part of media assistant are AuV3 , time stretch , editor ?

I may be wrong but I think there are 3 separate AU purchases. One gives you access to the web browser, the other for read aloud ($.99) and the last for access to the files. I say this because I have the first 2 and don’t have access to the Tagger in my AU. When I load it, it tells me it’s a separate AU purchase. Maybe @anhnd101 can weigh in to confirm.

Thanks for clearing it up. Work the Tagger IAP will we be able to play files in the AU to sorta make the app a very basic file/sampler/clip launcher of sorts? Or to take longer files and play them to sample them into Koala in an Fx slot?

  • @anhnd101 Is there a way to make it so when I open the Media Assistant app, that it opens in the last file location I was in when I last closed the app?

Or to have the option to choose a default file location that Media Assistant opens up to?

I think having these options would be quite helpful..

  • Does the tagger work automatically? How does it work?

  • It's super easy. You have to purchase the IAP, then go into the menu and select "Audio Tagger" and then you can add folders to the library, and it scans them. Within Audio Tagger you can point it at a top level folder with hundreds or even thousands of samples in subfolders, or you can have multiple folders added and then select them one at a time from the library. It will attempt to tag them based on name and the information in the file (hi hat, kick, etc) and try to read the BPM, etc. You can also manually tag the files with as many tags as you like.

This short video from the developer shows tagging folders in action on iCloud drive, but it would be the same procedure for local files on the iPad too.

Auto-Tagging audio files in iCloud Drive

  • Thanks that sounds like something Ive been looking for!

Its weird however that while i purchased the auv3 update a while back it doesnt show up as an auv3. It does as IAA in audioshare. But it does crash very often.

    Anyone else had this problem?
