Has anyone figured out a way to sidechain? I've just started using EG Nodes and I thought I had a surefire way to set up a sidechain that will duck instruments based on the midi note that triggers the kick (spoiler: it doesn't work): drum machine (Tekno) in a rhythm node > midi out > midi-fx node with Note to Be, a quantizer where I can restrict incoming midi to only the note triggering the kick > midi out > sequence node with Flux Mini 2, set to retrigger > midi out > instrument node with volume or filter automation set to channel and CC that matches the Flux Mini 2 midi output.

However, the snag that I found is that I cannot get Flux Mini to fire based on incoming midi.

Any tips on trying to set up midi triggered sidechain in EG Nodes? I'll even settle for audio sidechaining through a compressor.

Gotta use something like 4Pockets SideChain. It was created back before multi-out was a thing. Hopefully we get multi-out in Nodes eventually.

  • Need to get Nodes back out, was my favorite 🤩 app of its type for a long time. :)

Thank you! I'll try that out.

I found an old-school way that works.

    • Load FAC Envolver as an FX on the channel with the kick / side chain source.
    • Set the output CC you want to use, and invert the envelope. Disable envelope two by tapping on its number.
    • Set MIDI output for that node to the node that has what you want to side chain. Add a slider to the side chain target
    • Add a slider for the target synth's volume parameter and set it to the CC # coming from FAC.
    • Adjust FAC to suit.
    • If you don't want to hear the side chain source, kill it with the volume slider, not the mute button.
  • Hi everyone! I’ve started working on EG Nodes 2.0 and created a Canny board for feature requests:

Feel free to go wild with your requests 😄

That's really good news! Will EG Nodes 2 be a free update who bought EG Nodes 1?

It depends on the features I’m going to add… I haven’t really thought about it yet 🙂

  • @ElliottGarage Would love to see Ableton Link Audio for DAW connections

Excellent! EG Nodes is definitely one of my favourite music apps. I find it very simple to get something going.

It would be great to play notes on a keyboard and being able to turn knobs at the same time

  • Like in the example. The only way to play this is with an external keyboard.
