I'm old enough to want to forget...
Forget what? I can’t remember what it is I’m supposed to have forgotten…
Never used Modstep myself so I can’t say. I used the Rozetta comparison because Nodes also has its own arp, piano roll, rhythm sequencer, and generative sequencer built in.
It will be interesting to compare them and see if Nodes covers all those bases.
Load Segments as an AU in Nodes to get audio channels? It’s just crazy enough to work!
EG Nodes by Elliott Garage. Pre Release Beta things may change.
LOGIC PRO FOR IPAD & EG NODES QUICK JAM.
Looks interesting!
Thanks!
This is one of those apps I could really do with trying before buying!
Can anyone on the beta help answer these?
How’s the piano roll input? Does it have those lovely ‘handles’ like ns2 and xequence? Or is it more traditional like Drambo?
How’s the drum sequencer? Does it have any glitch/randomisation options? Decent swing? Does it let you record into the sequencer live? Can you control velocity, gate etc?
Does it have midi export from the piano roll?
Sorry if these have been answered already
Since no one seems to know, any chance I can get on the beta @ElliottGarage ?
Is "toogle" a pun of some sort, or is it supposed to be "toggle"?
if possible, can I also test before buy on beta @ElliottGarage ?
I sent an email at the very beginning of the beta testing when they were accepting testers and I was ignored. Not a big issue since I suppose they have enough testers but a reply would have been nice. Still excited by the app release
I haven’t used NS2 and don’t have much experience with Xequence so can’t say anything about the “handles” but it’s a mostly standard piano roll. You can enter manually or with a midi controller/keyboard.
The drum sequencer is great and easy. It’s got a good amount of different mappings built in and plenty of randomization, swing, ratchet, and speed options. Not much for glitchy stuff besides tweaking the steps and ratchets per step but you can always load external effects.
You can record in live to the sequencers as well.
No midi export at the moment. I think it’s on the roadmap though.
Thanks so much for your response 👍
@gregsmith @tja happy to help!
Sorry if you didn't get an answer but I received tons of requests! Anyway Beta is now closed and a walkthrough video is coming in the weekend.
Also the tutorial videos are almost finished.
I'm currently searching for a good platform to publish a roadmap for the next developments...maybe I'll make the discord EG Nodes server public. The app can evolve in so many different directions, but my aim is to give users a great workflow and a unique approch, so I must stop myself to add features over features if they don't fit the app design
Thanks. Looking forward to the tutorial videos as I want to get an idea of how things like the piano roll and drum sequencer work in practice.
And midi export is essential for me personally - not sure how many others will care though. There seemed to be quite a few happy people when it was added to Drambo recently.
Anyway, best of luck with the launch 👍
“midi export is essential for me” +1
Does it have midi import? He mentioned it does..
I guess the feature request will be furious, looking forward..
@RajahP Midi import already there...
@tja thanks, I'll take a look at it
Thanks.. 🙏
Quick preview of AU parameters & automations
Just bumping my own message @ElliottGarage. If it were possible to see the manual, it would really help those of us who were not on the beta to know precisely what it can do. Cheers.
Not sure if there’s a full manual available yet but the dev said full tutorial and breakdown videos will be coming this weekend.
Thanks @HotStrange, i saw that and I’ll definitely be watching them. The only problem is videos tend not to cover everything in the way a manual would. Still, yes, I’ll be watching them with interest! Cheers.
I’ve seen the manual it was pretty much complete.
There’s a complete 9-page manual within the app settings, as well as short (2-3min) tutorial videos for each type of node and/or feature. All tutorial video links also within the app settings.
I’ve found the app very intuitive though. Haven’t even needed to watch the videos, but I’m glad they’re there for clarity. I think I only referenced the manual once. It’s great that you don’t have to sit through an hour-long tutorial video. You can go straight to the topic you’re interested in getting more clarity on.
You can already watch all the tutorials here:
