  • Hi, I was going to start a new thread but saw this. As someone reasonably new to these captures of hardware equipment or whatever is going on, I think it would be really useful to have a little breakdown of omeone more knowledgeable’s idea of some of the standout hardware instances/captures being mentioned here. Personally, as a recording bedroom studio musician, singer, songwriter, these are a great opportunity for me to explore hardware that I won’t ever own, and just doesn’t figure into priorities practically to own.

I’d be so grateful nd think it would be really useful if someone @Fingolfinzz could maybe help simplify it a bit. I can see guitarml captures discussed, which work in Byod and then there’s nam. And then there are sites selling sims such as pasttofuturereverbs. I would like to build myself a nice little setup, with the purpose of getting some hardware magic from these devices into my recordings.

I ended up researching microphones quite heavily and getting some better ones, have a nice tube vocal mic. I don’t yet have a separate pre amp just my audio interface which is clean. I would very much like not to buy any more hardware given what is possible in sims L though a pre i suppose is the only one possible. I’d just like to see how I can get things sounding

So what sims to people think are the kind of legendary ones that continually get thrown about, as studio equipment that adds magic. If type of music is a thing, let’s say for guitar or piano based melodic classic type bands. I got into this initially after getting versed in u47s u67s c12s m251s.

Pultecs, neves 1073s, err the hardware that begins ‘la’ something - these all come up consistently in discussions over dream magic gear. Could someone help out by knocking together a little list of legendary hardware gear that I could get in guitarml or byod or nam. I know most are also in mix box but ibviously that isn’t the captures which are supposed to be better than algorithms

I suppose what I’m asking for is a little list and whether the best versions are in guitarml or nam, of hardware to add magic, that is equivalent to a list of legendary mics such as the truncated one I gave
