FF is a huge investment, not just money but time to learn everything they offer. If you are happy with TB in your workflow, then why bother with FF? You have and use Creative Bundle, till now, you should already know if you need to go full monty with FF. 😅
it's an unsolved mystery. i recently saw i need to pay more for the FAC apps bundle then buying each of the ones I dont have. same for other bundles. if i need to take a guess - i think the reason this is happening is because (for me at least) i didnt pay full price for some of these apps in the past. so Apple sees it as ignoring the fact i have some apps already. but i believe they have some weird system to price that. because i get really weird float number pricings.
Well I’m more asking what actual technical advantages the FF apps offer over others (namely TB obviously). I’m definitely happy with what I have in that regard but if the FF apps offer some kind of mindblowing extra features or something else that’s unique, might be worth knowing to make more informed decisions. That’s why we ask about others opinions on apps after all…otherwise we’d all just be taking stabs in the dark..
The appstore page lists the features. It also has a section mentioning specifically what's new. If you know TB Reverb well it will be easy to see what's different and then you could assess whether you would use the extra features or not.
One of the few things TB Reverb does that Pro-R doesn't is 'shimmer reverb' but in most aspects I prefer Pro-R.
I've yet to get Pro-R 2 at some point and it's the timed gate and ducker that tease me the most...
I tried to help you indirectly but failed. 😕 Sorry for that. I don’t have anything from TB; a few years ago, I decided to go full with FF, those tools became my DAW in a way. Before FF, I used Logic stock plugins, FAC, and Bleass. FF tools was a big step for me and still is.
For technical advantages, comparing the specifications is not much different. I’ve checked Equilizer 4 and compared it with Pro-Q3. One thing that is missing and crucial for me is an analyzer for more than just sidechain input signal. Other than that, TB EQ is pretty much powerful.
As I said in my last post, only you can decide after doing research because you already have and use TB tools. 🤓
I have always used TB EQ, but for my last project, decided to get Pro Q3 for the side chain ducking and analyzer feature. I’m so glad I did. It helped speed up my mixing process, and my vocals Sat better in this last mix than all my previous ones.
The bundle pricing is straightforward and unsophisticated. There is a bug in the App Store that sometimes results in the wrong price being displayed unless you force a refresh of the page.
If the price doesn’t change after the refresh, the page is showing the result of this calculation: bundle full price minus the sum you paid for any bundle app previously purchased. Note that if you ever purchased a bundle with overlapping apps, the price paid for the overlapping app doesn’t get applied. An app’s purchase price can’t count towards two different bundles.
That's the problem here, FF have made a brand new bundle which basically negates any previous bundles. It's a pretty dumb system the App Store enforces.
I still don’t see how this makes sense from what I am seeing. I have every app in the 2022 pro bundle and so far I am only missing the pro r-2 in the 2023 pro bundle. The price I’m seeing, even after refreshing the page, is $119.99 US to purchase the new bundle. I think that is the bundle price if you have none of the apps at least from a quick google search.
If you have a previous bundle, the price you paid for that bundle’s apps don’t apply to the overlapping bundle (which I mentioned).
If I understand correctly, by keeping two versions of the app on the App Store and having two overlapping bundles that differ only in the pro-r version, FF (possibly inadvertently) set up a situation where owners of the old bundle won’t get a discount. I don’t know if some App Store rule prevents them from removing pro-r 1 from the old bundle and adding pro r-2. Could be.
I have a couple of the toneboosters, I mostly use the compressor but I do like Pro-C2 and Pro-G more, maybe just because I understand them better and stuff though
@HotStrange : imo, TB apps are of similar quality to FF apps. In some cases, the way the way the u.i. is set up
In one or the other may make a difference and in some cases the features aren’t quite identical. If you already b know how to use the TB effects, getting the FF effects is probably not, in my opinion, going to be a game changer. If there is one or another plug that has a feature you would use, it might be worth it.
You might want to research the individual plugs for info about differences.
Okay, sorry, I understand what you’re saying now. Hopefully they will just set up a pro r and pro r-2 bundle like many developers. I was hesitant to follow the advice to just purchase and it will be sorted during apple billing. Thanks for the further explanation.
In 30 minutes, I converted all of my secret IRs. I just can’t express how good it is. Holiday sales are near, it’s worth waiting. I bought the desktop version for a 65% loyalty discount because I need it now and can’t wait. Also, I don’t believe FF will give an extra discount on top of the loyalty ones just for the upgrade, but who knows?
I have all the other fabfilters in the bundle, but have to pay nearly 3 x the price for R2 if I go for the bundled version 😂
Yep the ios appstore bundle system needs revising
No need to apologize, I was just looking for more personal experience and opinions rather than just textbook technical features. I just didn’t word it well enough before. Thanks
Like I mentioned later in the thread, I misspoke putting “more” and instead of “not”. I was looking more for personal opinion and experience rather than pure tech specs. Everyone’s feisty today lol must be the weather. ((Joking btw))
Yes... It really depends @HotStrange > @HotStrange said:
The weather is great where I am haha, as is my mood. Sorry if my post seemed irritated or something, it definitely wasn't meant in that spirit, it was just very concise and factual. 😄
My advice would be this tho, if you want an opinion - if you're not feeling a burning need for it, maybe just wait til it's on sale. Unless money is not an issue, which I doubt is the case, because if it was the case you likely would have bought it immediately just out of curiosity - plus, you've already been thinking of getting the original Pro R for months or maybe even years, but still resisted buying it until now!
Haha I was only making a joke just because of how curt it was. No offense here
If it was a $10 or even $20 app I would’ve already gotten it but at $40 it requires a lot more thought. And in my head, Hiphop Drummer and iBassist would be a much better use of my money right now.
It looks/sounds excellent though! But with TB Reverb, Crystalline, MagicVerb, etc etc, surely I’m covered 😅
Same, I am tempted but not tempted enough tbh
If they end up doing some kind of 50% off Black Friday or Christmas sale, it’ll be too hard to resist I’d say but I’m happy with FAC and Toneboosters for mixing/mastering. And I have so many reverbs it’s not even funny. Well it’s maybe a little funny 😆
I finally got round to watching this last night. What a brilliantly done tutorial by Dan Whorral, such a masterful journey through the app. Loved the autogate too.
Is upgrade pricing available?
Not yet. Is it coming? No idea. You could email FF though to ask
Anyone know if upgrade pricing is available?
Not available. You should email them and ask for it if it is important to you. I for one am definitely not buying it without an upgrade pricing, but I have enough reverbs and am happy with them so don’t really care too much one way or the other.
Yeah, best answer. I had some minutes and read the thread 😄, ok ok two pages, as I face the problem more often than anyone should -
how can I refresh the App Store Page with „wrong“/too high prices?
Do I have to logout and re-Login from/to the App Store?
how can I refresh the App Store Page with „wrong“/too high prices?
I can‘t verify the ‚tap 10times‘ thing to work on my iPad
