  • @cuscolima Great vocals, I’m guessing this is a real person , certainly sounds like one . Enjoyed the lyrics and the backing.
@Fear2Stop Menacing and moody with a little happy bit at about 2:30… very nice
@dendy Not my sort of music at all but I can see and hear the great production values, skill and musicianship you put into it.
@animalelder too short and a bit too eggy for my tastes 🍳
@McD I quite like real people playing music, mistakes and all. Happily listen to more of this sort of music from your good self.

I started looking through my soundcloud listings and decided to go with the most improvised track of the year. I sat down with my new “PianoTeq 8” app at the Casio PX560 digital piano and just started playing piano again… something I have done since my 20’s but never recorded. Well, Pianoteq 8 has feature where is archives anything you play and it can be recalled. So, I went poking through the archived MIDI data and exported a segment and created a project with it in AUM using LK to playback my improvisation.

It’s probably the track that most sounds like me since there’s no generators involved and of course, it’s sounds very human since I didn’t pay any attention to a clock, click track or drum machine. It has the odd “bad note” but still… it’s me making music the way I taught myself to play it just for my own enrichment and pleasure.

The “Noise” app lines are improvised over the PianoTeq 8 rendering.

This is really good. I love the opening line and how it develops. Do you still have the MIDI for this?

The audio is my new wake up alarm. So it has a 30 second limit. It works well for that. The video was just for fun.

But I realize that I definitely don’t make a lot of music that sounds adjacent to that of the majority of regular users here. No prob! Thanks for clicking the link, and listening and watching regardless.

Wow. As my late great teacher, Connie Crothers, used to say: WOW! She also said “LIFE… the mix that it is”. Those two comments sum up my reaction to all the posts do far. Let it not be said that ABF is a geek filled tech forum. This proves with finality that it is just as much a creative forum. We creatives, who fear we are lost in appland, need not worry. We don’t need to make the point anymore. This thread proves it… incontrovertibly.

Many thanks to @GeoTony for the inspiration and his formidable contribution. Also to @NoiseHorse ‘s Jellyfish and it’s wonderful ridiculousness, but all we’re mighty, creative and impressive for fing around on a piece of glass.

A special shout-out to @jo92346 not only for his brilliant stuff, but for his gracious approbation toward us all. Joseph doesn’t hide the details of his life. It’s a tough one and many of us can empathize, but, damn, it doesn’t hold him back from being a superior human being. I would nominate him as ABF Person of the Year if there were such a thing.. (I hope I’m not embarrassing you, Joseph. Sorry if I have, but it’s heartfelt, brother,)

Here’s mine. Only because I keep listening to it.

Not my best mixing work but far work my favorite composition of the year.

Pretty good too! I enjoyed it, and really enjoyed the second half.

Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I found the PianoTeq 8 midi file session… it’s about 5 minutes. The “Noise” improv was just recorded direct to the audio in AUM.
I’ll send it to you for you to use in one of your collages.

  • @LinearLineman of course I’m a little embarrassed, not use to that. But I’m also deeply touched. Very rarely has anything that nice been said about me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  • Just the one I made for the Halloween collaboration, I was not productive this year.

  • No thanks necessary @jo92346. It’s just the way it is. Happy Holidays, bro.

I loved your track so much, it made me investigate Psy, a style I was not very familiar with. All I was listening for a couple of week straight.

cool, glad to hear that .. hope it brings you some new inspirations and different point of views for your own creations :)

  • Great thread! So much good music in one place.
Without a doubt, my best track came early in the year when, sadly, my father passed. I recorded this for the wake. It's me at my best.

Wow! Probably the best piano piece I’ve heard on this forum so far. There are a few parts that are so beautiful I almost melted!

It’s hard to choose as the other track I was tempted to post is so completely different (dark noire-ey soundtrack style orchestral).

But I think I’ll post the dumb one:

That is definitely not dumb. I loved how it evolve and the sound is great!

Thanks for listening and commenting, I appreciate it :)

  • This one captures me starting to get my legs with Cubasis and mixing Auv3 synths with external hardware synths.

  • @ecou I missed this when it first came out, powerful stuff, dark but enjoyable 👍
@rottencat I enjoyed this one when you first posted it. A great collaboration and mesmerising visuals as well. Top work 🙏
@HotStrange As I said in September, somber but not dark. Very nice and good to hear something using Wotja.
@Kmatic Not like anything I normally listen to but I really enjoyed it. Lots happening and it sounded really well produced (to me anyway 😊)
@JanKun I’ll just repeat what I said in February… Hard to describe, hard to forget 🙏

  • Thanks @GeoTony! Wotja is a lot to wrap your head around (still only halfway done it myself) but it pays off in dividends.

I was most pleased with this one, I think.

It was discourteous of me not to mention my esteemed collaborator on this track.

    My apologies, @JanKun.

  • Wow, these are some fantastic tracks, I must spend the time to sit down and write some nice considered words about them. Nice work!

This remix of an old c64 tune turned out pretty good, it’s a bit in your face at times and I had the intention of staring a YouTube channel for the remix community I’m part of but I struggle to find the time. I did make a nice little video using vs though

@peanut_gallery great 80’s feeling tune. I like the tight sounding drums.

@timforsyth i am a fan of the darker music. This is totally down my alley. I am going to listen to it many times. Great work.

Thanks… @Paulieworld is going to take the MIDI and cut out those special moments and make something new with it.

  • Meant the most to me anyway. A song about missing my mom.

That is something quite interesting. Those different moods are clashing in a very stimulating way, the guitar sounds great (I’d add a longer reverb tail though). Deliciously slightly dissonant piece of music.

I do it know if it is really right for me to comment on a pice that heavily emotionally charged.
    I love it

Ohhhhh I totally love this one. The sound is absolutely perfect, and the progression super engaging and well made. The quiet and beautiful start evolving into strong and majestic then contemplative before the perfectly executed ending coming way too soon.

That is a brillant masterpiece in musical storytelling.

One of the top three most beautiful melodies of all time. You played it with great emotion. Occasions such as these tend to bring that out in us. I'm sorry for your loss. My own personal belief is that this is not the end.

  • Inspired by so many amazing creations on this thread, I think I will add mine. Part of my first album, which was released this year. My favourite track there:
