  • @jamietopol Hi, Jamie. Thanks for telling all of us about this product.

This is perhaps asking a lot of you, so feel free not to do this :) I assume that you've used the CubeSuite iOS app to configure the M-Vave BT controller, right? If so, would you mind sharing with us the steps? I've scoured the net and can't find any instructions how to use the app; esp how to get it to control the AUM sliders, etc.

    Thanks!

@dcollett - the CubeSuite app isn't used to control anything in AUM. It's used to configure the MIDI messages that the controller sends out. You can then set up AUM to listen for those midi messages to control faders and other parameters.

I can't help specifically with using the CubeSuite app to configure that specific controller since I only have the m-vave Chocolate controller. The CubeSute app isn't the most intuitive thing, but it isn't too hard to figure out. You basically want to assign a CC # and Midi Channel to each of the faders. I suggest CC#7 and Midi channel's 1-8 respectively.

AUM defaults to control it's faders with CC #7. The first fader defaults to CC #7, Channel 1, the second CC #7 channel 2, etc. You can override that, but one easy "generic" way to set up the controller using the CubeSuite app would be to set each fader to send CC #7 but on a different channel (1-8). That would result in controlling the expected faders in AUM without any further mapping.

You don't have to use those CC#'s and channels though. Any CC/Channel configuration can be "midi learned" to control the faders. You might want to look at the AUM help file for information about using MIDI messages to control faders and other parameters.

  • @dcollett - you may not need to use the CubeSuite app at all if the controller comes with default MIDI Mappings. It may be as simple as routing the controller to AUM Midi Control, tapping the channel name, then the icon at the top of the window that looks like four tiny faders, then tapping channel controls, then Volume, and finally Learn. Then move a fader. With luck the fader movement will be recognized and the right CC mapped to it.

    Launch CubueSuite app.
Tap "scan nearby devices" button (make sure M-Vave is turned on).
    Select "SMC-Mixer."
Somehow CubeSuite knows and displays the correct number of knobs, faders, and buttons.
Tap any knob, fader, or button and a window opens for you to change any relevant parameter (CC#, MIDI channel, min and max values, etc.).
When done, tap the save button to save the changes to your M-Vave.

  • For an easy "automatic" application to AUM without any midi learning, Configuring each fader to CC 7 + the channel number corresponding to the fader will control the first 8 AUM channel faders by default.

  • Out of curiosity, how reliable have people found AliExpress to be?

  • There is also an interesting footswitch plus BT dongle bundle for ~33$

  • @wim @jamietopol Thanks to you both for the information. It was very clear. As soon as AliExpress sends the controller, I'll try to set it up according to your instructions. @espiegel123 I've ordered small things (LED strips, etc.) in the past from AliExpress and never had a problem. I'll let you know if this controller gets here (and in one piece :# ).

I’ve ordered hundreds of items from Aliexpress and overall been very happy with the merchandise and service. I’ve had a few packages never arrive but this was a couple years ago. Now you pay for shipping on small orders but delivery is much more reliable in the last year. They have tracked 14 day shipping for most orders above $10 or so, to Canada anyway.

Some stuff is junk so check out what you are buying carefully and look at the reviews. If the price looks too good to be true - buyer beware!

For those who might be interested in this product, I just ordered it on AliExpress (see link above). Price is $22.79. I used the Chrome extension PayPal Honey that found/applied a $6 discount code. My total price was $19.12

I followed the same link and it is $37.61 today? Perhaps the pricing is variable based on demand?

Yep, the same for me. According to pricearchive, the price has been risen today in this store :/ There are two other offers with +-similar price.
BTW, ordered both 'chocolate' pedal and smc-mixer. I had some experience with m-wave pedal, it's quite ok for the money.

I received the following message on Aliexpress: "Sir, pricing error, unable to ship. Please cancel the order"
I purchased SWAM Trombone just so that I can now play a "sad trombone" sound.

    That's it. I'm getting one.
That's easily 1/3 the cost of building one less capable myself.

…and less risk of burning holes in the carpet

I ordered this shortly after the first posting at 22.79. This morning I received a message from the seller telling that there was a pricing error and told me to cancel the order. I've not canceled and am curious to see of they choose not to ship.

  • I got the same message this morning about a pricing error and I replied that it is not my problem and to please ship it at the price I paid. We’ll see.

Yep, I also have problems. Day I ordered, or the day after, my order was listed as packed and waiting for pickup from the delivery company. Today, 2 days later, same status. Enquired what was going on. Was told its out of stock. I'm like, why the heck does the system say its packed then and why did it show it was in stock before I ordered, why did it let me buy it and then why on earth did it say it had already been packed. Terrible service, still waiting for an answer as to what's going on.

    The saga continues:
I just received an email from Aliexpress: "Your order has shipped...."
I am keeping my fingers crossed that it arrives the second week in January.

  • I’ve received notice that the product whose order I was asked to cancel has shipped … we’ll see if a tracking number appears..

  • I left my order open but it was not shipped by their own specified time limit and my PayPal was refunded so maybe some of the orders slipped through but mine did not. Weird because I ordered before some of the others here.

  • I wonder if some sellers try to get people to cancel orders and purchase at a higher price but ship some if there os pushback to avoid getting a low rating. I am very curious to see what happenss.

  • My order still shows as shipped...but still no tracking number available after a week.

The M-Vave Chocolate, however arrived moments ago.

I haven’t really had a chance to use it . The build quality is higher than I expected. I need to figure out how I want it configured.

In this one the foot switch or the midi fader? Some links here are for the fader but when I search it brings up the Bluetooth switch. I’m curious your thoughts when you try it though. Both of them interest me a lot right now.

    chocolate = foot controller
    smc = mixer

Cool, thanks for clearing it up!

  • Does anyone here have experience dealing with a vendor who who has both marked an item as shipped and NOT actually shipped the product? AliExoress seems not to let me request a refund because the item is marked as shipped (which vendor admits did not happen). The vendor is slow-rolling the refund. I can't find a way to escalate this until the expected arrival date has passed. Which is 10 days away.

You can investigate blocking the charge from your credit card company if that's how you paid.
