Heads up on some great deals for vocal and AI tools:

If you’re looking for an AI voice changer that runs locally and offers various models (including instruments), Sonarworks SoundID VoiceAI is currently 20% off at $79.99:

    https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/54-Vocal-Processing/13408-SoundID-VoiceAI-Perpetual-License-Key)

    https://www.sonarworks.com/soundid-produce/voiceai

Use the code DOCTORMIX10 on the official site for an extra 10% off. I found it in a YouTube demo here and was surprised it still worked:

To see how it performs, here’s another video comparing VoiceAI and Vois. The video creator runs a SynthV voice through different models in each tool. The video is in Japanese but pretty self-explanatory:

Speaking of SynthV, Dreamtonics has 20% off SynthV, Vocoflex, and their bundles:

    https://store.dreamtonics.com/

If I didn’t already own SynthV and two voices, I’d definitely consider one of the SynthV+Voice bundles. I was tempted by Vocoflex, but having to register a passport or driver’s license) was a dealbreaker for me given the higher price of Vocoflex. I understand they do it to keep people honest as the Vocoflex output has an inaudible watermark that identifies you, if I understand correctly, and with Vocoflex you can clone any voice you want.

Still, the output is impressive. This is a demo for Vocoflex:

  • Free Black Friday plugin (IDX Intelligent Dynamics) from Waves is live now - https://www.waves.com/plugins/idx-intelligent-dynamics

This is the kind of thing I think Apple will have to offer in future updates to Logic Pro. What's the most costly and time consuming part of making pro-grade music? Hiring other musicians, getting them into the studio and then getting the communications straight so everyone is on the same page.

If you perform your own mid vocal tracks and then are able to replace them with what sounds like a real vocalist and/or backup singers, then you've solved a big production problem. Save hiring all the pros for the tour instead.

Not sure that I like the way it sounds, as it doesn’t really have the character to it that a live vocalist has.

However, I’m sure it would be perfectly adequate for most pop records where vocals are heavily processed anyway.

This deal won't cost you anything other than a little peace of mind by installing an "unapproved" app onto your computer. Because of that lowered security requirement, I cannot completely endorse these soft synths and effects, however my experience with Full Bucket has been pretty good so far.

They now have a Nord Lead style synth which is very cool, called Ragnarok.

    KarmaFX Synth Modular 2
    $199 -> $59

    https://karmafx.net/buy

Obscure circuit-modeled modular gem has previously dropped to $20 in years past (ver. 1 many years ago as low as $5 😵). Jeskola Buzz -inspired workflow. Incredibly pure tone. Word has it Jesus of Nazareth used a couple presets in a show once. Challenge-response, iirc.

  • "I want to hear Homer Simpson sing the intro to Merry Go Round", said nobody ever. But here you go anyway:

I have a Bugs Bunny one in the queue lol.

This was using VocalNet. I am pretty sure it's using Weights.gg in the background, though I'm not sure why VocalNet asks you to download the models and import into the tool locally. The only advantage I can see now is that it works as a vst, which was convenient during this test as I had Izotope's RX in the fx chain to reduce reverb. YMMV.

Just wondering thanks for the info, because I can’t get it running on my M2 MacMini although the problems are being resolved by the developers at the moment, it keeps hanging on the 99% like it’s about to complete but doesn’t.

Yes, I wound up getting it there and gave the mixbox freebie to a friend because I already have it. So good deal all around. Funny enough, just after you posted about this deal, I got booked to do sound for a classical concert on which the piece that uses Ableton is programmed, so great timing. When I did it last time I used the free trial, so that wasn’t an option this time.

    Hi @knewspeak

I was able to get the Bugs Bunny model to work. I did a few things and I'm not a 100% sure which one did the trick, but here we go:

    1. Restarted the daw
    2. Re-captured the audio
    3. Triggered the conversion process
    4. I went into Windows task manager, and under the Slink process, I found two slink processes. One of them was using memory, while the other one just seemed to be hanging there. I killed the one that wasn't using memory. I actually did that too during the trial, but just because the Slink process was taking some time to start up.

I did a quick search and it seems like the Mac equivalent to Taskman is the Activity Monitor. Good luck!

Thanks again for the detailed information, some parts seem relevant I’ll take a look to see if this behaviour is related to the Apple Silicon version at least SLink is now working without crashing in the latest build on my system.
