This service has a free trial period and I just saw a promo video from "Dr. Mix" going on about it.

Looks like it might be very useful for the one person studio to have access to a lot of different backup vocalists instantly.

I have no connection to this service whatsoever, just passing along something interesting. Although I did notice I could earn a referral benefit (if I was signed up with the service): https://affiliate.audimee.com/login

UVI Falcon has had an update with new browser functionality, it's now possible to pre-listen to sounds before loading them, the tag system seems to be new too.

... and it is only $149 for the next 19 days, I think I have never seen the price so low (50% off, normally they do 30% off sales from time to time), and you get a $50 / 50 € voucher on top, which you can then spend on other goodies (and they have a lot of those in store), the extra voucher used to be $100 in the past though.

Anyways, fantastic synth / workstation, I can only praise in highest notes.

The two new expansions coming out today too also look very interesting, here they have a buy one take two sale (works with all expansions I think).

Nice one, I’d been looking at the spectrum one for a while so I grabbed the basic version for now, maybe I’ll get the UDS version at some point, especially if someone uses this link:

You can pick up SampleTank Max v2 directly from IK for €49 or €34.99 (plus tax if applicable) if you have some jam points (which you can get for free by downloading certain demos, creating an acct etc) at the moment which is a much better deal than the humble bundle top tier, not least because you can get better upgrade deals if you own anything Max. It’s a metric ton more content.

    https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/st4/#nl_form_area

Although from my experience that might be a bad thing as installing it is an awful experience. It will install some of the content in all the wrong folders and that will in turn make ST4 crash. You’ll then have to manually find the stuff that’s in the wrong place and put it where it should be. Once you’ve spent countless hours doing that, the content may or may not be useless to you. I couldn’t find much that was anything other than mediocre to be honest. My taste most certainly does not jibe with IKs middle of the road Tediocracy.

I have a pretty huge chunk of the Sampletank library. I currently have 0% of it installed and that is the way it will stay as ST4 is an unstable buggy mess and the sounds, in general, bore me senseless and take ages to load. Then it crashes. Which would be even more annoying if the sounds weren’t so lacking in character.

Your mileage might, as they say, vary.

Judging by the sale prices IK are also probably close to releasing ST5 and the upgrade path may leave you disappointed. They do this every time they release a new version of something and having everything in the humble bundle will probably not get you anything in the way of an upgrade path judging by their past actions.

Mind you, you can find out if I’m talking nonsense for just 76p — don’t say I didn’t warn you when you start tearing hair out mid install :)

Just a heads up, the humble bundle top tier includes SampleTank MAX v2, so it's a much better deal now, purely from a financial perspective. Sampetron2 and Shipwreck piano are good. I don't much care for any of the rest.

All the other libraries in the top tier are moot I think they all come with MAX v2? In any case that's a lot of content. Downloading it will make you lose the will to live though. The installer is a crime to computer science.

Just for future reference, do you know what happens when Humble Bundle sweetens the deal like this, adding extra content to the top tier? Do customers who purchased the top tier before the extra content was added automatically get the extra content anyway or not?

If not, it seems like it’s not worth buying from them until the very end of the offer just in case the deal gets better along the way.

No idea… I’ve not seen them change the bundle like this before. Not that I’ve really been keeping tabs. I’ve only bought from them once to get some Cherry audio synths. That I’ve never used lol. 😝

Totally no brainer to check out this pack for me, currently on the hunt for cheap 48k speccie as I’ve acquired a set of little programs that load up a bit like cynthcart on the 64, so this might avert that gas, at least for a while😅

Humble Bundle a long time ago had game bundles that ran for two weeks, but stuff was added after the first. And everyone who bought before got them, too. They haven't done that in a while, though. And don't know if that carries over to this case. But I've bought dozens of bundles there and was always happy with them as a seller.

Free acid, pretty fun! Doesn't have the sonic depth or sequencer chops of Acid V for example, but it's a heck of a lot less expensive! I like that you can grab and drag the sequencer pattern from the UI.

  • Open source new concept synth, apparently plaits modules just updated with something similar so maybe it’ll come sideways through one of the implementations on iOS…

I think the idea of this synthesizer may have been more interesting than the final product. It just seems like a drone maker.

Looks and sounds really cool, thanks for sharing. Is it just one of the models of plaits with more parameters? If so which one is it?

No idea I’m afraid, I just read this article earlier…

  • Looks very cool for transitions and such. Nice.
