I'd go bassoon personally, but they're both fine choices (only have the double horn, but I don't think the difference between it and the plain F is as great as between the various trumpets for example).
Sorry, that was meant to imply that Bb/F horn would be better for versatility than the plain F if you're leaning towards a horn.
thanks @Loups
I've been wanting to score the bassoon expansion for FrMS. It sounds so good.
Quick Question
SAMPLR or Microwave1?!
completely different instruments, but Samplr because it is one of a kind
I'd listen to some demos of each and see which you'd make use of as they are nothing alike. I always think the description of SAMPLR sounds great. Each time it goes on sale, I watch videos of it and can't see myself ever using it in a meaningful way or incorporating in to compositions. You'd think I'd just check the once, but it's description and hype make me keep checking again each time it is on sale. 😜
Microwave is very unique. I have both haven’t used Samplr is a long time but it’s definitely a cool sampler.
Does it do anything you couldn’t do with another wavetable synth?

@ejacul337 - Samplr is its own thing, a playable instrument that utilizes iPad in a way few apps do anymore - it’s being used still widely and I’ve never opened it up and not been inspired.
Microwave is definitely unique for a synth. The possibilities of sound design are really great. I watched some videos and it led me to find some microwave wave tables online and dig more into Drambo and envelopes within modular to get some insight and knowledge on how the people in the videos I watched were doing so. Out of frugality mostly.
I imagine this is an attempt at frugality and if so and your deadset I recommend Samplr.
In the same price range Bram and Jakob Haq released Solderbox today and if I was juggling Microwave and Samplr and saw that I would probably think real hard on Samplr (since it’s half off) and more start a debate with with myself on getting Solderbox 😅
I guess what I’m saying is we don’t know if Microwave will end up being a long time must have. We don’t know how involved the devs will be for Microwave on iOS. It is, an emulation of a really beautiful synth that’s created very well.
Samplr has, amazingly and not through their own in and out timeline, stood the test of time to be an inspirational type of app.
Yeah man, thanks for the write up. I grabbed Samplr before the sale ended, and it absolutely is inspiring, been playing with it since that post.
Good looking out

It runs really smooth on my 3rd gen iPad. Good stuff. Loaded Bill Withers acapella in one box, and have just been remixing. Definitely an instrument.
Glad you like it bro! It’s just its own thing. I usually look at it that way, if it’s another Synth, and I really want it, I’ll debate it for a bit but if I’m debating between something that’s a good deal and truly just its own thing (and has been updated recently) I’ll just get that 99% of the time.
Really with Drambo or MiRack I often time spend a bit seeing if I can get some of those sounds on my own. More like a test to myself. Nothing against synths and the like but I do like making and designing sounds so I always feel like I’m cheating myself if I don’t at least try.
That’s why I had no drum machines other than Pure Acid for a while! lol. I just kept thinking PA, Koala, and Drambo I’m good.
But I’m glad I got a couple now 🙏🏽

If anyone is a tracker this is a cool one, an Amiga ProTracker emulation, both touchscreen and traditional keyboard control, in active development
I remember I used to work with something like this, not sure if it was this one, had an Atari too.
I have to admit that going back to Trackers worked as well for me as replaying old games and finding they weren’t quite as enjoyable as I remembered lol. I know some people love them still though.
Yeah, like those Atari 2600 games. Their packaging was always so sensational and promising, but when you put the cartridge in the console it was just a couple of moving pixels. Still it was really something in the 80s but can’t imagine playing it for hours now. We are too spoiled.
We sure are
Notator? That looked the same on Atari iirc
I don’t think so. Can’t remember.
