Mapping Tonal Harmony Pro is $5 off at $14.99

The iPad version of this has some dire warnings in the review section where we get to learn that they have just copied the description for the desktop version as features for the iPad ditto: now, this seem to be very far from the truth as it seems to be a very slimmed down variant. Also the manual refers to desktop (right click).

I know I shouldn't just go on a few reviews alone but ..this day, it was enough for me to close the page.

I don't have the desktop version. But as far as features go, Mapping Tonal Harmon Pro on iPad is stocked full of features and I would call it a quality app. Not as easy to use as iReal Pro, but way beyond it in features.

Seems like you are basing your opinion on one or two bad reviews, from one or two people who state some falsehoods or who just didn't understand what they were purchasing. For one, the "hundreds of standards" thing is false. I have purchased the hundreds of standards for Mapping Tonal Harmony Pro on iPad, which is an IAP whether on desktop or iPad. It works great. I would say that the app is slightly expensive. But for many people it will be worth it, I think.

In particular, regarding any complaint that " they have just copied the description for the desktop version as features for the iPad ditto: now, this seem to be very far from the truth as it seems to be a very slimmed down variant. " I think this is just plain mistaken. The two versions are nearly identical. They do seem to sometimes release an update for desktop version before iPad, but iPad seems to follow shortly later. The person who made this criticism didn't understand how things worked, apparently thought that many of the IAPs would be part of base version, which they aren't, whether on desktop or iPad.

They have a youtube channel that focuses on helping people learn jazz piano. They are geared towards selling add-ons, extras, but they also provide lots of free resources. To each his own.

Thank you for the clarification, I really should sit on my hands when in a bad mood. Then again, others might have fallen in the same trap and now "we" shed some light on that.😅

I purchased MTH Pro a week or so ago - I would not say it’s an easy app to use right away and likely not the right choice just for backing tracks - but it had serious depth in terms of harmonic analysis and as a journeyman improviser I’m sure I’ll get plenty of use out of it, though I do need to pick up the Standards IAP for ease of pick up use, and I’m confident the Target Notes IAP will be a big help at my current stage.

Mapping Tonal Harmony Pro have some good features, as mentioned by @MadGav and @hes .

However, the UI is messy. Another menu was added, to facilitate the access to the main functions... instead of just clarifying the initial one. Moreover, the analyzer did not work well for me: I asked for a refund. The preset system is also super buggy when you create a new song.

Apple Vision Only - New Release

PolyNodes AVP is free - I’m guessing not too many Vision owners in here, but this is an interesting look into potential future synth possibilities.
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/polynodesavp/id6737522620

It's interesting, but it also doesn't impress me. Nothing is improved by making it 3-D... yet. I'm sure at some point this kind of interface will find a more ideal workflow, but that day is not today.

I agree. I just think it’s an interesting look into future Music making possibilities.

Have it. Love it. By the by, what are you using to raise the levels of Wurly? Almost every preset has a very low volume. Is it a gain twiddle, compressor er compressing, or some distortion effect?

  • Can someone tell me if anything is still on sale? Cap is $50… I missed most sales but is there anything still on offer?

I haven't tried it yet btw but the new Wurly update includes a volume boost to the sound, should be at more normal levels now.

Needlepoint and lo-fi-af are a ton of fun to use and bring some nice texture.
Silo and Tails are the mindblowingly great effects.
