Serious question…how do all you Gadget AUv3 users remember which gadget is which?

I've used Gadget for 10 years, so I mostly know which is which. Not gonna lie I still sometimes get mixed up. 😂

All the AUv3 icons being identical makes it quite difficult for visually oriented people, methinks. I had always thought the city-based naming convention was kinda pointless due to its ambiguity. Now even more so.

Yeah that naming convention is a small headache. 😂

To be correct - the company was named Propellerheads AB back then...

A summary of the cheat sheet

  • right now, I'm confused and surprised at the same time…

I had Gadget 1 in 2013 and loved it. Made a few tracks that actually landed on vinyl. At times it was my bed guitar

I recently got a new iPad and thought I might get back into it

What confused me: I could download Gadget 3 for free, doesn't this program cost something? Did they automatically update me to Gadget 3 for free? Maybe I bought Gadget 2 and I forgot? I don't think so

Can I load up my old Gadget 1 tracks into Gadget 3? I need to dust off my old iPad mini 2, I hope the battery is still working

This is how the iOS app system works. As long as Korg update the primary app, all those updates are free. The only way for a dev to monetise new versions is to release them as completely separate apps or to release the updates as IAPs.

In the case of Gadget the core app updates have been free, but obviously any new Gadgets have been released as IAPs.

Yeah, every owner of v1 of Korg Gadget can for free install Gadget v3…

Korg earn the money on this from the great in-app-purchases in form of new Gadgets…

So, everything made in v1 can be taken in on v3 of Korg Gadget…

  • Respect to Korg once again… Thanks for the info!

It seems like I lost iWavestation, though. I remember buying this with my account within gadget, I guess. I have to check. It was quite some time ago

  • @pseudophysics I have Gadget 2 running on my Mini 2 so that should work too. Old projects can be loaded.
You lost iWavestation? Have you tried the "Restore" function in Gadget's instrument list?
I had to use that a few times in the past.

I think you have to download iWavestation from the App Store first, then it should work within Gadget. It's a standalone synth that can also work within Gadget.

  • Anybody in the know about what hits the Auv3 update next?

Pretty sure it will be iWavestation - this one as hardware was, as many know, enormous popular from 1990 and forward…
