Kind of a bummer though that if I use Miami on a track, the listening experience may be heavily compromised if someone listens to it in mono. Anyone have ideas on how to mitigate this phase cancellation in a mono mix?

Not just "AU update" but "AU support". That is cruelly inaccurate. But yah, that will never happen. Korg is a stable environment. No way they would introduce AU and mess it up. I don't think I ever had a Gadget crash. That would be sad to see.
I found a way to fix it in Drambo: adding the Stereo to L/R module. Is there any similar IFX available within Gadget?
Okay, looks like I can load Gadget in AUM via IAA. Enabling Mid/Side-Stereo Convert in AUM fixes the mono phasing issues in Miami, although of course this converts the entire master to mid-side rather than just Miami.
As someone not too knowledgeable about mid-side processing, can this conversion have any unintended consequences on my mix, whether in mono or stereo? Or will it be the same assuming I don’t actually do any separate processing on the mid-side channels?
Just got the Ebina gadget and am a bit disappointed. I swear some of these PCM Samples have different names but sound exactly the same. The low-pass filter also doesn’t sound that good imo.
It’s times like this that I wish Gadget had free trials like Module does.
Got Santa Ana a few days ago, and while the built-in patterns can feel limiting even with the loop points, you can definitely get a lot more variety by adding the arpeggiator, auto pumper, and/or another Santa Ana.

How do you restore purchases? Dont find it anywhere in the app?
Go to the screen where you add gadgets, tap on one that should be restored, and you'll see the Restore link at the top-left.
Thanks Wim. Yes did finally see that
Just got Korg Sydney. I’m playing around with some of the factory loops, and the auto BPM detection is pretty good imo.
However, I often want two double up the loop’s BPM in order to play the loop at half speed, but once I manually adjust the BPM to do just that, the loop often gets much sloppier with respect to the project metronome.
Is this just the imperfections of the loop becoming more apparent at slower speeds, or is manually doubling the detected BPM of the loop really not an exact science with this gadget?
Also, does this gadget not do decimals for its BPM? How does that work?
And if I had (for example) a loop that is auto-detected as 119 BPM? Since decimals aren’t allowed, I can’t set it to 59.5 BPM to play it at double speed?
Manually doubling the detected BPM is working as expected for me. Of course the time stretching algorithm is changing the overall sound, but the beat/loop stays in sync with Gadget’s metronome. I restart the sequencer after adjusting the BPM so it catches up with the adjustment I made.
Sydney’s time stretching algorithm is a bit rough. I personally like that, reminds me of early samplers. Perhaps that’s what you call “sloppy”?
Maybe post a video showing what you mean.
As far as decimals, I select the BPM which sounds best.
Upon playing more, I think it’s just drum transients that are messing with me. The peak of a transient just naturally isn’t gonna line up with the metronome perfectly once you’ve stretched the attack phase far enough. My appreciation for Rex files and Stockholm has grown today lol.
The problem still remains with speeding up loops that have odd-numbered BPMs though. You gotta divide it by 2 which gives you a decimal. I’ve had some success with nudging the “Start” & “Length” to get the timing more perfect, but I kinda wish that you picked the number of beats/bars for your loop rather than the BPM. Seems more intuitive.
Yeah, it’s the stretching algorithm messing with the transients. I use Stockholm and Abu Dhabi for ‘cleaner’ loops.
I do appreciate Sydney for its lo-fi artifacts and sometimes layer loops under the drum gadgets.
I’m experiencing an issue with Santa Ana crashing whenever I touch any of the length/loop controls to the left of the waveform. Just wanted to see if anyone can reproduce the issue before I report it to Korg.
iPhone 14 Plus, iOS 16.5.1
I tried it on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 26.0.1, and no crash. Might be your iOS version, mate. I'd report it to Korg.
Same on my iPhone and iPad (both 26.4). Reported it to Korg and they replied yesterday that they can reproduce and will fix it in a future update.
Glad they replied You!
I might have to re-remind them of the AUv3 automation issues in LogicPro for iPad (ie. the Touch & Release events have still not been implemented in the Gadget AUv3s).
But hey, I can draw automation manually most of the time so I can kinda work around it...
A quick reminder won’t hurt
I’m not subscribed to Logic anymore.
But I do have a strange thing with SantaAna AUv3 in GarageBand - it won’t load. Anyone can reproduce?
yep, stuck loading for me in Garageband. also, I don’t think i’ve opened this app in years lol.

Speaking of Santa Ana, I was playing around with the different rhythm patterns and came across Custom Metal 1 & Shred Master 2 (the patterns, not the presets). Am I the only one who thinks they sound exactly the same? Custom Metal is a little louder I guess?
I don’t know, maybe I just don’t have a good ear for these things. I can audition 30 different variations of the same grand piano on Korg Module and not be able to tell the difference haha.
Okay, I was beginning to suspect that the Shred Master was ever so slightly less harsh, and that does seem to be the case. Looks like I’ve satisfied my own curiosity lol.
Never use GarageBand myself, but wanted to check if the length/loop controls crash happens with the SantaAna AUv3 as well
Definitely the same samples…
similar to Strat OST Single and Strat Ostinato. The only difference is the second is twice as long. But there is length control, so it doesn’t make sense.
Also, I notice some loops don’t sync perfectly with Gadget’s sequencer.
Most noticeable with Strat P4 Swing preset. When you manually play and hold a key, it loops perfectly, but when sequenced it restarts too fast.
Hopefully this gets solved when they fix the crash bug, otherwise I’ll have to make another report…
From my testing just now, only StratOST Swing (both variations) goes out of sync with the metronome. No workaround for that problem. I’ll probably report it to Korg
However, what I also did find is that all Rhythm Patterns with only one variation are only able to be held down for around 38 seconds (whether via live input or via sequencer), after which the sound completely cuts out even while the pattern is running (as seen in the waveform display).
Doing the math, this will only affect you if the project tempo is less than around 100 BPM and need to hold down the pattern for a long time. For example, the sound will cut out just after the 2nd beat of the 15th bar in the loop with a project tempo of 90 BPM.
The easy workaround here is to retrigger your pattern after the 8th bar, although of course this will take it back to the start point rather than the loop point (if you’ve set those up differently).
Some others don’t perfectly align with the sequencer, as if they’re slightly too short for the tempo.
Which results in an audible (very fast) double-trigger the moment a sequencer note restarts the loop.
It varies every time I restart the sequencer, but it’s noticeable most of the time.
I’m not sure this is a new thing, perhaps SantaAna has always done that.
Low HB OST in the example below. But some others behave the same (StratOST Single).

Anyone using the Sydney Gadget much? Tempted to get it in the sale, but not sure if it provides much more than the sample player options I already have (e.g. Bilbao, Vancouver etc.).
Fixed with latest update.
