I'm so excited for this...really hoping it drops soon.

As soon as I can! Wish I could say an exact date but I'm not sure. I've never released an app or anything and I'm sure there will be unknown unknowns. Sometime in the next two weeks I'm hoping. I'll announce it as soon as I know

Looking forward for it! I'll be using the Topo controller and an Ec4 .

This thing is sick. I haven't seen either of these pieces of gear before.

Heads up, on release the MIDI In handling will be limited to MIDI notes in. Once I develop the MIDI CC functionality I'll include handling for what you'd typically use knobs, mods, and pitch ranges for (basically the extended midi set). There's a lot of room to grow here but it'll be fun.
I originally built this as a single hardware instrument (just imagine the same thing but no phone), so it has always been a goal to set it up in a way to bypass the ipad hardware interface entirely and just depend on the sweet click of hardware. And if we do it right in a way that doesn't sacrifice the functional or visual prowess of iOS.

Hey y'all! It's been a while but I assure you I've been hard at work drumming up as much goodies as I can. I think the app has come leaps and bounds in functionality, stability, workflow, UI, and is really starting to come together as a unique musical instrument. I'll be creating more materials to showcase as I get ready for launch, which will be soon! I'd give a date but this is my first time doing this and I'm sure there'll be unknown unknown delays. Until then here's a link to some more recent videos and a list of the updated features! There's still a lot more to go and I'm looking forward to growing out this device with input from the community, so don't be afraid to over share.

P.S. I changed the name from Ouroboros to Prism :)

    Tutorial on Prism's Chord Blocks
    Tutorial on Prism's Harmonizer

    Some updated pics

    Thanks for sharing the tutorials.

All in for the ride! Glad for the midi extension set later on...all patient here

  • @A_Mortal_Mage stoked as hell for your release! Will this work on m1 macs?

Thanks for the love! I haven't given it any thought, first impression though, for sure not at first and probably not at all, at least in its current form. So much of what makes Prism special is the workflow and user experience designed around having the multiple touch points of hands/fingers on a screen. If I moved it over to mac I'd want to reconceptualize the form & function to still feel creative and fun w/ mouse and keyboard.

Hey Folks, still over here trying to improve my video making skills. I apologize from the bottom of my heart for subjugating y'all to twenty minutes of word vomit before. As a token of my sincerity, take these shorter 4 minute spews of word vomit! It's not complete but there are now a half dozen shorts that walkthrough Prisms various engines/states/fx/whatever.

    Happy making

Consuming these with vigor and anticipation. I love how thoughtful youve been with how you've designed everything.

  • Thanks for the videos .. what a fantastic and powerful app .. literally my go-to for pretty much every project since I started testing .

  • Prism is looking really good now. It fills the gap between auto-generated pattern apps and piano roll recorders. You can easily record one or more tracks from a midi keyboard or the pads, sequence a couple of tracks in the sequencer if you’re not comfortable playing them in, and then use one or more to generate other tracks with the arp or harmoniser and fuse to give deep, complex creations. I keep finding new ways to use it and can’t wait to see where it goes from here. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.

Well said! I’m totally hooked on it … I feel like it’s the instrument I’ve been waiting for someone to make for iOS and the developer is absolutely nailing it.

  • Got the nod from Apple that it's available! Woot Woot

Nice! Been curious about this one. Congrats and best wishes!

  • Oh cool. It’s released! Congrats @A_Mortal_Mage

  • IMO the best IOS sequencer so far !
Finally being able to enter notes without triggering them is a game changer for me!

  • Congrats! @A_Mortal_Mage - you’ve made my favorite iOS sequencer .. hands down.
Only one I use since I started testing it ..

Psyched to see that it’s finally out .
Psyched to see where else you take it .
Psyched to keep making music with Prism ..

Don’t sleep on this one ..

  • Hoo boy. Gonna need a pdf for this one. (Yes, of course I see the help feature.)

  • iOS 16, pass. iOS 13 here

  • Oh man! I wanted to watch a movie just now.. looks like I’ll be spending some money on a app instead…

I agree. ( @A_Mortal_Mage ), a proper manual you can have by the side instead of these blocks popping over the UI.

Getting all the learning materials together and figuring out how to give a clean path to mastery is goal number 1 right now. It's a beast of a challenge too. I recommend checking out the cheat sheets as the fastest manual like experience for learning Prism right now. But I hear you that a more traditional manual is desired.

Please let me know of any other ways y'all like to familiarize yourself with a new device. I want to be inclusive of all the learning styles.

  • Congrats on getting this out the door! I’m looking forward to digging in. Clever how you made it appear at the top of the AUM midi processor list. You are a crafty mage indeed.

This is a deep and sometimes challenging sequencer but the results can be amazing once you get your head around it...

Still on the beta and will carry on testing but going to buy the release version in support of @A_Mortal_Mage ...👍

  • @A_Mortal_Mage I think that one of the best ways to onboard users would be to create a song as opposed to showing individual features and capabilities. Songs have structure story and endings. Having a "non traditional" (non DAW pianoroll audio based workflow) it would be great to see you the creator walk through making a song with verse chorus etc and how YOUR workflow does this.

Great app and you have put so much into it

I’d take a look at some of the BeepStreet and @brambos app manuals to get an idea of what some good manuals look like. Cheers! Congrats on the app.

Oh buddy, wish I could help you, but there's no way I'm a brave enough coder to venture into those dark wells.> @audiblevideo said:

That's a great idea. I'll definitely do something like this, now to only get over the hurdle of sharing my music publicly, the procrastination of which in a lot of ways led to Prism lol. In the meantime i have a few older videos of some freeplay. Though some things have changed they highlight the basic workflow.
