ABF Nanny State?
With the recent spate of thread closures has the Audiobus Forum become a Nanny State where mods that hide in the shadows and provide no explanations ‘protect’ the community from any topics with negativity regarding developers or apps? Has it gone too far, are you happy being manipulated or should we be treated like adults and discussions left to flourish?

It's a privately owned forum for discussion and threads which don't follow the rules get locked. I fully expect this thread to be locked immediately. Questioning the moderators isn't good form.

Threads tend to get closed when they're going nowhere other than defending into circular bickering and personal attacks. So what?

This forum is an incredible resource and extremely generous because this shit costs money
And amazingly it never needed moderation for many years. That there are people willing to offer their time to moderate it is another example of generosity.
Probably wouldn’t be needed if there wasn’t people that take the effort to create a new account just to belittle those efforts.

January 11 was the last thread closure, and that one had clearly violated the forum guidelines.
January 5 one thread closed that had descended into nothing but personal bickering.
One thread closed in all of December.
Out of more than 300 threads, 5 closed over two months.
Hardly an epidemic.

Threads only get closed when they don't follow the simple guidelines.

Creating a sock puppet account to complain about shadowy mods seems at odds with wanting to be treated like an adult or wanting a grown-up conversation.
Want a serious discussion? Start a serious discussion with your normal handle….and part of seriousness is considering in a non-dismissive way points of view different from your own.
My personal opinion - i don’t consider the moderation here to be strict. It’s been laid out in clear terms whats allowed and people do get abusive sometimes, and that may get moderated. And i agree with that happening.
I’m not aware/haven't noticed any moderation occurring, but I have seen plenty of conversations spiralling downhill. Occasionally I join in when people are moaning about their freedoms being infringed, whilst they are blissfully happy to ignore any consequences of their behaviour.
It’s not a nanny state… we have all freely chosen to associate here, accepting the conditions/rules.
I certainly read plenty of (often fair, often unfair 🤣) negative comments about apps, synth manufacturers etc.

If you can afford a Nanny, it’s an excellent investment to manage childish tantrums professionally. @Michael has enabled others like @thesoundtestroom to manage enfocement of the rules that appear on every home page at the top.
Looks like toxic blind negativity is the only way to make such a soundtrack.
