It’s begging for Probability levels on the main level control (Pitch control) .. seem it can host both.. Nice..
Seem there is some lag on older devices.. IPad Pro first Gen..
i'm looking to add some active Neon users to a TestFlight to help me test new builds before I release to the app store.
I currently have a build that I think should modestly improve performance... a preset i test with that shows 6-7% DSP usage in AUM with the app store version hovers at 4-5% in this build.
if you're interested, please DM me on here with the email address I should invite to the TestFlight AND a Neon screenshot so I know you've got the app already
Also +1 on the sequencer changing parameters on release instead of arrival as it would make live use possible.
+1 to randomization for parameters, including pitch value and gate. Would be great for experimentation.
@a_m Keep up the good work. These dogs here may nibble at you a little now and then, but they mean well and mostly just want to help
@a_m I think I found a bug on my iPad. I’m on iOS version 16.5.1 on an iPad 6th generation. If I add a state, and it is the only state, it crashes the app if I delete it. It’s fine if there is more than one state and I delete one, but I get the crash every time with deleting a state when there is only one. I tried it out in AUM and Drambo and getting a crash in both. Let me know if there’s any more info I may have left out that could help

I really like this sequencer, but I think I found a serious bug, which makes it unusable for me.
If queued state has division other than /1, playback get’s out of sync.

After updating to 17.4.1 the problem still exists …
@Ploe @Fingolfinzz i appreciate the bug reports and including a video is very helpful to me in reproducing it on my end, but please use https://neon.canny.io/bug-reports, which i have set up for this purpose! thanks
Curious… is there a way to assign a specific midi channel to a step or given steps… so that you can send pulses to more than one synth at a time? I love the way you can do that with the newly released Harmony Bloom (although it doesn’t look like you can do this while it’s hosted)
Yes! This would be a fantastic modifier.
fyi i fixed this… will be in the next update.
This is good news. Thanks for quick response. 😎
@a_m is the fix for saving States to a DAW project and AUM projects on the horizon? It's a bummer that these settings get lost, when using Neon in a new project.
While saving presets natively is an option, it isn't really as inconvenient and it's easy to forget what project is using which preset.
yes… i think it’s mostly done now, it just needs testing. i really want to make sure it doesn’t mess up anyone’s work before deploying a build to the app store.
if you’re up for testing yourself, please DM me with an email i can use to invite you to the testflight! I might submit a build for testing today…
Awesome, sending a not now, thanks!
in case anyone else is interested, Neon 1.0.9, which saves all states when the host saves a project, is available on TestFlight. If you are interested in helping with testing, please send a DM.
Nice, will test.
@a_m Working well here for state saving including with meta sequencer.
I had a brief play last night after installing the beta, and my old projects load properly. On about the third one, though, I got an error in AUM saying it failed validation and it didn’t load the plugin. Clearing the project and reloading sorted it out - it loaded properly with no error. But that’s the only issue so far, and I haven’t had it happen again. Will check out full state saving later today.
Is it normal that the shuffle sequences always change and are synced differently after starting and stopping sessions in AUM? Found it quite unpredictable for designing call and response sequences using 2 instances of Neon based on mirrored patterns (one with reverse, and one with reverse off).
Opening the Neon UI in Drambo and messing with the settings causes DSP spikes and crashes, just saying.
I agree @Jökulgil - for some reason I have slightly different ways of thinking about sharps and flats. Several apps have this issue.
@Jökulgil yeah, sharps would be better imo.
Some kind of global pulse counter displaying all the pulses used could be useful for loops. Keeping track of it yourself is a bit annoying. This way you can make sure to compensate for a pulse taken out by adding it somewhere else.
The use of sharps and flats depends on which scale is being used...
And Dan goes a bit further...
Any of the parameter screens that pop up, get stuck and i cannot minimize them unless i resize the app. Ima try to send a video to the dev.
@a_m Showing only flats is a miss, no doubts.
There's more to it than just showing everything as 'sharps' or 'flats' though.

The same also repeats for minor scales.
Personally I prefer to use # for the 'black keys'.
This preference dates back to my tracker years...
Cheers!
Hello neon users !
How do you make 'slide' in Neon ?
Thank you !
I see you never had to learn Debussy
True…
My electronic musical interest was born and raised with trackers, starting with Chris Hülsbecks Sound Monitor on the C64 and on a computer screen C#3 looked a lot ‘cleaner’ then Db3
Neon seems not to be working for me at the moment. Loaded it in AUM, transport is running, but Neon is not advancing and it is not sending out any midi. Anyone else?
