  • I would love a randomizer. It’s one of the best things about Drum Computer.

@benkamen long time user going through first run through of 3 now. Is there no UNDO functionality?

Parametric swing is legitimately genius. Groundbreaking potential for beat making in general. How does it integrate with midi clock (if at all)?

No undo and redo. I hope those get added, because this otherwise excellent app is absolutely begging for undo / redo functionality!

@benkamen is there a chance that you could add MIDI triggers (not sure if that’s the right term) to patterns so that we could sequence patterns via a DAW?

For example, each of Hammerhead’s 8 patterns can be launched via MIDI notes.

I know that P3 can have far more than 8 patterns, so implementation might be a horrendous ordeal. I’m asking primarily because I like to have everything running from “one brain”, as opposed to something like building a song in P3 and having everything else play along to it in Drambo. Hopefully this makes sense! I’m loving Patterning 3 so far, great job and I can’t wait to see what else is in store.

EDIT* apologies if this is already implemented and I’ve missed it. I read through the manual and have tried various things in Drambo.

Check the midi mapping section of the preferences menu - click on the + button and you will find a list of midi controls which include launching patterns via midi triggers. I might not have “exactly” what you’ve described but the functionality is there.

Yup.. Randomization in a drum app is always welcome round here.. coming up with rhythm combos that I never would’ve played/programmed.. for a single part or a complete pattern..

There is URN playback mode under the Loop tab on the right side..
If I plug in straight 8th note hihats and turn this on, it spits out cool random rhythms that give the pattern some movement..

    From the manual:
In URN mode, steps are played in a random order, never repeating a step until all steps have been played.

  • @audiblevideo oh shoot thanks! I hadn’t checked that yet but what an obvious thing to overlook.

Undo/redo becomes a lot more important with a randomiser, if we get one of those ...

Thanks --- this is something that was in P2 and honestly I just overlooked putting back in after I tore everything apart. I will get to it, I promise! Honestly a little overwhelmed right now, which is fine, but I have to get some other things fixed first :)

Oh that’s great news. Launching patterns via midi note is ACE!

Would be great if you could choose the midi message so if you're already using PC to change other patterns (like a sequencer) you can send the same PC to Patterning 3 without having to set up a new sequencer or utility to translate the PC to midi notes.

Yeah, the MIDI learn will let you choose notes, CCs, pgms change.

Don’t be overwhelmed. You just launched and it’s awesome. Take your time :)

If anything I’m overwhelmed by the sheer power of this app. I mean you have it all: endless kit choices, endless parameter adjustments, almost endless steps , so many sequencing options and variables to choose from, and you’ve given Cubasis time sig changes with the song/timeline mode. Awesome job

  • Yep, awesome job

The year isn’t even half over and this is my personal app of the year.

Now go write some great app reviews fan boys.

  • Is there a way to delete a drum kit - ?

I know how it worked in P2 - but couldn’t manage to do it in P3 …

    Thanks! I appreciate that.

  • If anyone can upload a pdf of the manual so I can download it onto my iPad without having to sign in to a g**gle account, that would be much appreciated

I didn't realize you need an account to access it! According to the help file, you shouldn't need one. Anyway, sorry about that, I'll see if I can fix that.

Someone requested that I share my short instructional videos here... so here's a new one!

  • When I add an instance of Patterning 3 to Cubasis and hit play over my looped section it stops playing at the end of the loop… so everything else keeps playing as it loops back around but not Patterning. Anyone have any insight as to why this is happening perchance a thousand gratitudes in advance…

I can’t replicate that. It’s working as expected here. Can you provide more details?

Is P3 in song or loop mode?

Nvm. I was trying with the Cubasis loop section starting from the beginning of the song. When I loop a section not starting with the first bar, I see the same thing.

Thanks for confirming. I am indeed looping a section not starting with the first bar… after watching Jamie’s last livestream I thought I would try leaving some space before my initial loop.

  • Sorry for dumb question, but is it possible to open P3 within AUM and send midi from P3 to other synths?

Yes you can. No app templates in P3 yet though like in Rozeta or Octachron etc so you have to configure the midi outs yourself and save as a preset at the moment I think.

    Ok, cheers Gus.
When I tried to do this I couldn't figure it out though....
I'll wait for someone to make a vid :)

  • 🤗 I must be dumb, but I can't figure out how to change the name of loops 🤔... is it even possible ?

  • I have a similar question about the drumkits @Gratouilli .
Anyone know if it's possible to name the kits when they are in the right-hand column? Rathe than having them named drumkit1, drumkit 2 or whatever, it'd be good if I could name them so I know which one I'm switching to mid-song...
