    This is honestly really amazing. I haven’t made anything I’m keen to share yet but I think this is absolutely worth the money if you like working in a looping/granular environment. Once it can take audio in from other auv3’ a this will be a reallllly valuable tool for me.

    There’s no way to record external audio when hosted as a plugin then? I had assumed it would based on this:

    STACKS can run as a VST3 & AU plug-in within all major DAW environments, with the ability to take input from other sound sources and send out MIDI information to control other devices.

    I am 3 days in to strokes and my mind is slowly coming to terms with it. It melted my thoughts and suggested infinite possibilities.
    I am getting ready for stacks to do the same, albeit in a totally different way.

    I've been working thru some rly good feature requests from Discord, two things in the latest patch going live this weekend:

    • you can now load your own samples directly into the granular loopers
    • musical scales are now built into the pitch quantiser

    If you have pre-ordered, drop me a dm/email with your proof of purchase and apple id - I'll send an invite to the testflight beta.

    Just a quickie - I noticed in your desktop video you dragged a recorded loop into a free slot in Ableton - will this feature be possible in the iOS version?

    So for example I could create a loop in Stacks, hosted as an AU in, say, Logic, and then drag it as an audio clip into a separate Logic audio track?

    Awesome! Does it have a randomiser option? I do love a random button to get things started, and for unexpected surprises.

    I’m interested in both apps actually - will there be any chance of a bundle?

    You can also send midi into auv3 fx, at least in AUM and some other hosts. Those FX are called MFX, I think. Someone like @uncledave probably knows the ins and outs of these. See the pic - there are 2 versions of this particular fx, one is a regular fx, the other an mfx.

    Thanks! I Your assessment is right not only about AUM but all iOS AUv3 hosts. I don't know if this is for lack of implementation or a limitation of the platform. As @Gavinski mentioned, hosts that support plugins with audio and MIDI input do so with MFX (I think the M stands for MIDI) so it's very likely this is what you want for Stacks.

    “Anything specific”: Always searching for for apps that provides happy accidents / magic moments and out of this world sounds. Just like strokes. Guess it might be difficult to show in a video. Workflow is important.

    I’ll get it for sure.
