This is honestly really amazing. I haven’t made anything I’m keen to share yet but I think this is absolutely worth the money if you like working in a looping/granular environment. Once it can take audio in from other auv3’ a this will be a reallllly valuable tool for me.
Will it be able to do that?
Not yet just mic in. But the dev will hopefully expand it.
maybe im looking at wrong but this one says to me 21st century groovebox
There’s no way to record external audio when hosted as a plugin then? I had assumed it would based on this:
4 more sleeps
I am 3 days in to strokes and my mind is slowly coming to terms with it. It melted my thoughts and suggested infinite possibilities.
I am getting ready for stacks to do the same, albeit in a totally different way.
@sevenape is it possible that august 9th is 3 sleeps? Hopefully that makes it better…
Oh my!!! Thank you!!!
It's been moved back to the end of the month
Hello!
I've been working thru some rly good feature requests from Discord, two things in the latest patch going live this weekend:
If you have pre-ordered, drop me a dm/email with your proof of purchase and apple id - I'll send an invite to the testflight beta.
Nice thank you!
Just a quickie - I noticed in your desktop video you dragged a recorded loop into a free slot in Ableton - will this feature be possible in the iOS version?
So for example I could create a loop in Stacks, hosted as an AU in, say, Logic, and then drag it as an audio clip into a separate Logic audio track?
Yep!
Really looking forward to the iOS launch
when is the ios version getting released?
It’s been moved forward to September 13 it seems on AppStore.
Curious about this too, "STACKS can run as a VST3 & AU plug-in within all major DAW environments, with the ability to take input from other sound sources and send out MIDI information to control other devices." is that for ios and desktop? Also, can you drag and drop from Finder on Mac with universal control into the ios app's granular slots?
@congburn I would particularly like some clarification about the ability to receive audio as an AUv3.
Awesome! Does it have a randomiser option? I do love a random button to get things started, and for unexpected surprises.
I’m interested in both apps actually - will there be any chance of a bundle?
This also relates to @Model10000 question
I need to dig into this a bit more, but my current understanding is that in AUM, its not possible to send audio into an auv3 instrument
So stacks might be better as an AUv3 effect - but that makes MIDI in slightly trickier to setup.
I'm hoping to work out what the best option is by the time its launched
You can also send midi into auv3 fx, at least in AUM and some other hosts. Those FX are called MFX, I think. Someone like @uncledave probably knows the ins and outs of these. See the pic - there are 2 versions of this particular fx, one is a regular fx, the other an mfx.
@congburn
I’m Really interested in this ( happy with strokes)
Is there any video/show off/sounds other than your original video?
Can’t find anything, and would love more info/sound 🤗
Thanks
Thanks! I Your assessment is right not only about AUM but all iOS AUv3 hosts. I don't know if this is for lack of implementation or a limitation of the platform. As @Gavinski mentioned, hosts that support plugins with audio and MIDI input do so with MFX (I think the M stands for MIDI) so it's very likely this is what you want for Stacks.
Thank you very much @Grandbear & @Gavinski - in that case the next beta version will be an effect )
Thanks!
I'm gonna record a video of the iOS version next week if there's anything specific you want me to cover
I used stacks for the synths and some drums on this remix (paperclip minimiser) out soon

Thank you 👍 I ‘ll look forward to next week.
“Anything specific”: Always searching for for apps that provides happy accidents / magic moments and out of this world sounds. Just like strokes. Guess it might be difficult to show in a video. Workflow is important.
I’ll get it for sure.
Just in doubt if I should go for Mac or iOS….
Thanks for the Soundcloud links,
Unfortunately my phone won’t play them…will try on another device later

It’s out!!!!!
Juhu!
