Anyone know if the sounds follow standard MIDI mapping for drums?
It was the billing of ‘workstation’ that threw me I think. Maybe a bit of an old fashioned take on it 🤔
Seems more geared towards being triggered by a human, definitely no sequencer included!
Finally! Excellent
The desktop version was just updated to include up to 24 slots, does this also apply to the upcoming iOS/iPad version?
It's already heavily suffers from MFS (Microscopic Font Syndrome) on the desktop so I think I'll have to pass...
If it's like Ting or Slammer, it probably depends on the kit. But it looks from the trailer like you can customize the mapping.
To the comments/questions about this app lacking pads and lacking a sequencer: In my personal opinion this is something I like about a lot of Klevgrand instruments. It's a sharp, composable tool. In that way, it kind of leans in to the strength of iOS music making, in the sense that you can plug it in to an existing workflow or project and not have to e.g. learn a new sequencer. At this point (again, my opinion only), I end up being more comfortable with drum apps that don't have a built-in sequencer, like Ruismaker, FAC Drumkit, etc. I love DrumComputer and Patterning 3 too, but they can be tricky to integrate with a DAW workflow (for some reason I can't get a good midi recording of patterning in Logic for example).
I'd rather learn and use one or a few sequencers with a bunch of drum modules than have to learn and use a different one for each drum app. In terms of UI it makes things a hell of a lot easier to not have to cram yet something else into an already tiny interface.
Modularizing this way also makes it easier to swap out drum modules. It's still a pain in the butt due to the different drum maps for all of them ... a situation with no satisfactory solution really.
@Samu ……Logic Pro for iPad also suffers from MFS I think …
does this have a sequencer like skaka??? That would be sweet
I think you can load a few samplers at once and make it trigger one of them based on velocity.
That said, I'm really happy to finally get a no fuss acoustic drums app for the iPad. Didn't really like AudioLayer, though I don't remember why. This looks like dumb people like me could use it. Thank you Klevgrand for caring about us halfwits.
i see no sequencer.
Same.
It looks like its a great app to organize drums with effects to build and save kits.
Kinda like an MPC … just without all the MPC stuff.
Idk ima have to watch some videos on it to see what it offers, besides another set of 16 pads…without pads 😑
I'm thinking of drum app workflows. Apps like Seekbeats and FAC Drums for sound design. Apps like Octachron, Drum Computer and Patterning for sequencing and the final piece that on paper seems "easier" than DigiStix to create and house Kits with velocity and final sound enhancement.
Not really and you can if/when needed increase the font sizes even further and do it per app when the font-size widget is enabled in the control center, if Logic had too small fonts I would be screaming at this point
A few example of real MFS are the Cubasis channel-strip plug-in (you can barely see the values you’re tweaking), all FabFilter plug-ins and most others are already permanently off my iPad.
MFS is not only about font-size but UI elements in general, some plug-is scale the fonts and other elements so small you can’t even see them with a magnifying glass…

It’s out!!

Nice, seems to be 24 slots in the iPad version too...
...no need to rush though
Our wait on a few iOS reviews first see if brings anything new to the game my drum machine locker pretty well stocked.
That’s a fair price, I was expecting it to be higher, since the desktop version is much more than their other apps. Maybe it’s on intro?
Looks like I’ll be getting this!
Ipad only…😩😭
No way to load more than one sample at a time in the iPad version from what I can see. Anyone else?
Also - yes, you can add audio by editing a slot. But when you open a new slot, or deal with blank slots, there is no edit button and no way to add audio. So it seems that users are forced to open existing presets and modify them? Am I missing something?
About loading multiple files, the manual says:
“When dropping more than one file, a dialog will ask how the file should be
imported.
• Automatically - The plugin automatically tries to figure out
which files should belong to the same slot and thus create
several multi-sampled slots, or split them up on different
slots. The algorithm is based on file names and might not
work in all scenarios.
• One Slot Per File - Creates one new slot per audio file.
• All files in one slot - Puts all files in one and the same slot.”
Thing is, it is unclear to me how this would work on iOS, without drag and drop and without a slot manager able to open audio files. There does seem to be a slot manager in the standalone only (the tab called ‘Slots’ to the right of the presets tab) but - as mentioned before - it cannot import wav files, it seems.
Would appreciate whether anyone has solutions to any of these issues. I only saw the desktop manual, not iOS, so maybe the iOS manual has some info that solves these
Before this there's was only DPP(drumperfectpro) that held a real high sound quality on iOS. This is nothing like what you have before (imo).
Octacron worked with it right out of the box (no map change).
This is the actual christmas folks ....🎅🏽
Edit: replacing the drums for the session drummer in Logic worked fine as well ... mmmm
Hmm, that’s not good, you can see the option in the desktop video here:
Same here @Gavinski 🤷🏽♂️
From the App Store:
I think they missed enabling the import feature. I’m sure an update is coming…

@Gavinski from the manual. Yer it seems limited for sample import can’t believe WAV files are not supported? What format does it take ? Just sayes audio files or ext .slot files !
About "Installing extension packs" - I asked Klevgrand support if there is (would be) a way to buy extension (drum kit) just for iPad and answer was "the price for the Kits are the same as the desktop version. They work for both".
I love Klevgrand but I'm not ready to pay $39.99 for just one kit.
EDIT: Wow, I'm positively surprised. I've heard back from Klevgrand support and they're trying to work it out.
