Lets have a competition, whilst we wait.
Your best Vibot ( tm ) drumming.
Vibot is where you tense your arm so it goes stiff. Then turns into a pnuematic drill ( A construction road drill )
10 out of 10, is 10 seconds of a fast/same rythum.
Could you please explain what magic is missing in Patterning 3?
(I have both, but haven’t got time to play with V3 yet…is genuinely interested in your opinion/experience)
Seriously in doubt, I think round robin is great for realistic emulation of percussion and I have a feeling this app is maybe more created with that in mind. I am very much into cold electronics, machines. Thinking about Playbeat 3 as well.
For those that have this app, does each sound slot allow MIDI in?
I’m thinking using patterning 3 as the sequencer for this app could make it really nice.
Not sure that all P3 parameters would carry over tho, other than just triggering the sound… i am curious if things like the….velocity/gate/ and live modulations to the pitch and other live modulations as the app runs…if those would be receivced into one shot
@reasOne
Yes it allows midi to sequence it. Tested with Octachron with velocity etc. Does what it should as far as implementing midi. Not sure about pitch...
Update fixing import is out!
Edit: and it works😁
I guess you didn't watch my vid? It answers all these and more!
Yes it does and you can alter things in ridiculous variation: Envelopes for-> pitch, gain, filter and a section with faders tweaking those, humanize. There's other curves doing things😂 This for each slot.
Unfortunately right now, background audio is not working so you can't drive it with patterning, both in stand alone. Well, it works but you wont hear your edit in patterning. Should be fine in AuV3 though. Anyway, I strongly doubt there's any important feature that Patterning have that OneShot doesn't (drum and midi wise). I think it's meant to compete with the big wolfs like Addictive, EZ and Superior and so on. But maybe that's just me, jumping to conclusions ☺️
I was so looking forward to this one. We badly needed a simple, solid multilayer drum sampler. With chokes, round robin, etc and a decent and comprehensive UI.
@Gavinski i guess the import issue is fixed. Right?. I have no problem loading multiple files, but drag n’ drop would have been a lot better.
I’ve made huge drum templates for Drambo. Hacked multilayer sampler in Logic with sample chains and a script… makes no sense. I just want a thing that works and looks good. The UI on this looks well thought of and simple to get around.
BUT I’ve had a couple of bad freezes in the app in the first 5 minutes. I’m really hoping it works well.
Yay import
😀
I’m really liking how they’ve implemented the slot/sound relationship. It makes sense and it’s super powerful. I specially like how they’re not making an obvious differentiation between what’s “midi” (velocity curves, sample slot range, etc) and what’s “audio” (pitch, envelopes, etc). It’s more about how it affects the dynamics and sound. Very intelligent.
Biggest complaints so far are around how the UI is not specially good for touch operation. Very small elements. Specially the trigger dots/notes, they’re tiny and a finger occupies a few at the same time. Clearly a mouse-first scenario.
I'm always working with a pen so I hadn't even noticed but I get what you mean. Must be a real nightmare for devs placing everything out from a big screen to a small - making it look great and function great and ....
I’m seeing some real potential in this. Things I like:
Pretty easy to have as big or small drum kit as you’d like.
it’s super easy to assign the sounds to whatever midi note you’d like.
I like that you can recycle one sample into different sounds with triggers or just humanize it with humanize.
The multisampled, round-robined, mallet kit is worth $20.00 in my opinion.
It seems like I could build my own mutisampled kits with round robins pretty easily.
I like that you could easily mix & match an 808 kit with multi sampled malleted cymbals for example.
What I wish it had:
That it could vary the pan position with different triggers, but you could just copy/paste into a new slot as a work-around.
It doesn’t look like the multi-out busses works just yet in logic for iPad.
Can’t wait to use it more.
Did an update come out? That's good to hear that you can now import multiple samples. Please report the freezing issue. Anyone should report any buggy behaviour directly to the devs. Drag and drop is unlikely to be added, imo, but it is probably worth mentioning if you contact the devs that you hope they can add it
Watching it now! Was out and about all day …. Looks like its an enjoyable app!
Yeah, i would probably use it as auv3 mostly anyway… so background audio isn’t a deal breaker but there’s times where i do prefer standalone.
Seems like a good app and i could sample the great sounds right into koala or op1f to tweak and sequence further
No, the two are independent or can work together.
Huh? I don't really understand those questions but I think you have it backward. The sequencer sends velocity, the sampler reacts to velocity. If a hit has multi samples they can be set to trigger at the velocities you want. Nothing you set up in the sampler affects anything in the sequencer.
Again I'm not sure I understand you. But if I do, then that's a ginormous workaround to simply having a multi sampled drum kit that can pick different character based on velocity and also can rotate through a set of samples at a given velocity (or any velocity).
Those two terms "drum synth" and "realism" aren't usually all that compatible. Generally the most realistic drum sets are made from samples recorded from real drums played at multiple velocities.
I reckon most would be using patterning 3 as auv3 anyway. I wonder why OneShot doesn't work in background standalone. I personally always use auv3 if that's an option. Do other Klevgrand apps run in background mode standalone? If so, that will probably be added if you tell them OneShot lacks it, I reckon
Understand.
Its not like we got synth drums for modeling acoustic drums.
Id think I could get more electronic synth variation though. With a FAC drum per track ( just not real sounding ) So not sure what point im making lol.
I guess If I bought the app id just see how the samples sound triggered eleswhere.
Or just see if Iv got enough cpu, with current electronic drums and add as many acoustic drums to outputs as needed.
I should just buy the app and sequence as I bought swams and did practice over jazz loops.

I’m not always demanding AUv3 option to all apps…
Talking about drum-apps - OneShot! is such a wonderful app with amazing sound quality, and, attractive intro price - but, also, I can feel the same joy and wonderful music experience with DrumJam app, without AUv3 option…
In the long run, Isn’t AUv3 for users with ”better” and newer iPads/iPhones?
Try to load four to six instances of Synthmaster v2 on an iPad Pro 2015, not so good…
When reaching the store, it says macOS/Windows, with no mention of iOS. Do we need to wait or will it work?

@tja is that you?? 🙂
Answering myself when you buy it you have an iOS versions available !
Yep. Have OneShot open when you download the packs. One click and they import.
Question (haven’t really dig deep yet in OneShot! more then I could feel the quality of this app):
What is that black bar on top of the app in standalone mode?
Why doesn’t Klevgrand use that area to the GUI?
Looks even worse on my 11" iPad.
I haven’t gotten around to try my own samples, but I love the presets, the variety and sound is awesome. I’ve noodled for hours with a big grin on my face. Here’s 5 minutes with my favourite presets so far:
Nice. Does it sound better than Logic's session drummer kits? Those are mainly what I use when I'm just jamming, so I'd be curious if this would be a nice upgrade in Logic?
I wouldn't go that far as Logics drums sounds awesome, too. Generally speaking I don't think one is better than the other, they both have some great qualities. OneShot offers a lot more settings for the individual drum. OneShot can of course be used with session drummer. I'll make a comparison for fun as those are tough to get fair..
