    Great that it’s finally released!

@Pxlhg How big is the file size of the factory content?

I didn't catch that and it seem to be hidden too as I can't find it on my drive/s. It took a while but that can be poor connection so .. Sorry I can't be of any help

No problem! I don’t have Quanta 1, but in Continua you can delete factory presets and banks in the app itself. Hopefully the case for Quanta 2 too, if the download is big.

Yes, you are right. There is an option to delete the desired folder. ;)

Cool, thanks for confirming! Poor Hainbach 🤣

I will delete everything, you can’t save user patches without downloading the entire content first. I love Hainbach, but this time… 😂

  • There are some free presets here called Threads:

    https://www.audiodamage.com/collections/plugin-instruments/products/ad055-quanta-2?mc_cid=c2ba054255&mc_eid=0feb623477

You should be able to load then in Quanta 2 for iPad but I haven't tried it yet. They won't run in Quanta OG, even on desktop.

    For Real?

Yeah, I tried everything. You can't reveal options for saving before you download factory content.

The Threads presets are already included in the ipad version (in the Creatives folder). They made them available for download to early adopters of the desktop version.

Cool. I have added them to my desktop version.

  • Heck yeah, I’m in also for $9.99!

I see there’s another set called “Proem” (128mb) on that page as well.

  • What about stability?

Is my 5th Gen iPad sufficient for Quanta 2?

I also already own Imaginando FRMS, but Quanta 2 is currently on sale.

How would you describe the sound compared to FRMS?

Is Quanta 2 even worth it?

    Already under artist presets :)

Stability wise I didn't have any crashes, iPad 9, iOS 17, standalone and in Loopy Pro with at least two hours of playing.

One issue I did have, that most likely had more to do with the bad WiFi available at the time, was that that the download of the presets stopped several times, and that seemed to crash the standalone, not deleting the temporary files. So if that happens to you, I would suggest entirely deleting the app, before trying again, or it might block some storage without need.

  • Blimey, I thought I was happy sticking with V1, but that might have tipped me over the edge towards a purchase.

Yeah. Also this one from RMR is pretty convincing.

Oh, that is really good - the new features add a lot more than I thought. Sold!

  • I have FRMS but somehow never clicked with UI, Quanta 1 on the other hand seems more orderly but can't record samples in FX slot. So what about Quanta 2, can it record samples directly, or it still limited in that case?

Quanta 2 can’t record samples and can’t be used as an effect either. You’ll have to load samples via the files app.

Yeah if I hadn’t have already bought it, this video would have sold me as well.

Ah.. So evidently that’s one thing that FRMS still has over Quanta 2, and that’s ability to record samples, as it can be loaded into an audio effects slot.

FRMS does have that advantage and does it very well, though due to its internal architecture it is not able to play back grains at the same pitch as the incoming audio, but (from memory of other posts) the dev is aware of this, and I think he said this will be addressed in either an update or (more likely) in v2.

Dang it! I wish I could see these videos. I won’t be back to decent connectivity for a couple more weeks or so.

How long does the launch sale last? Don’t they typically have big holiday sales too? I’m guessing this one won’t get discounted for the holiday sales since it just launched

I think they said until December, so you might be ok 👍

My favourite feature in FRMS, is the randomise option - I’ve created some wonderfully whacky patches that way.

Shame Quanta doesn’t have this, but the UI (in particular the on-screen MPE keyboard and ability to scrub sample position via touch) win on that score.

So I use both, FRMS for quick, crazy patch making, and Quanta for performance work.

Just about to plump for v2. A few worrying reports of crashes, but hopefully my Air M2 will handle it ok.

  • Mmmh...
Bought it, wanted to like this one and really don't want to sound that negative but...
I went through all those presets but I could not find anything musical or inspiring.
Rather there are mostly noises, screeches and unsettling sounds.
Furthermore all of them seem to have a specific coloring, hard to describe, a little thin, don't know.
Maybe I have a bad day and my ears deceive me. But I really think about returning the app.

Does Quanta 2 has any special features that FRMS and SampleWiz 2 don't have? I like both of them a lot.

What kind of listening device did you use for the sound reproduction? And audio interface. I love Quanta 1-2, it can really produce rich and harmonically pleasing sound.

Could be that sounds from certain 'sound designers' simply don't sound that appealing or inspiring unless one is a huge fan...

Of course. ;) It could also be coloring from headphones or certain speakers.

    Motu M4
    KRK 5 Monitors
    Audio Technica M50x Headphones

It's not the hardware, most synths sound nice even through iPad speakers.
It's probably just not my taste.

Yeah, I have too many granular synths, and every single one sounds differently and can inspire you in different ways. Ty!

Probably. After listening i thought a lot of the presets would be great as background for horror movies.
    But again, tastes differ.
Started SampleWiz and the world was bright again. 🙂
By the way, SampleWiz presets are on offer today. 💰
