  • I’m just dipping in to say that I think I’m getting a lot for my money with this app, and nobody’s bugging—or even asking—me to spend more until I see new features I care about. One reason I am willing to invest in Michael’s projects is his commitment to making things solid under the hood. I don’t use tools I can’t trust.

Keep doing what you’re doing, Michael and Edward.

  • I like this app. I enjoy what it helps me produce.

I realize now that I upgraded almost a year ago. I did so hoping that midi looping was on the horizon. While I am a little bummed that it has taken longer than I thought it would, I am good with it. The value I have received from this program has been far more than the cost of the program and the upgrade. When I compare it to what I have paid over the years for something like Ableton Live, it is ridiculous. What I can do with this program boggles my mind. And I have paid less than $50. I support the efforts of Michael and all who work at A Tasty Pixel. I can understand the frustrations of those who have expected more. At the same time I want to applaud the work that has gone into the program and I look forward to its next release. I like supporting the people who create the tools that give me so much. I do so out of self interest; their well being will allow them to continue working on this amazing program. And it's also a way to show my gratitude. I'm sure I will upgrade again.

    Precisely.

  • It’s just weird that the Sound Test Room released a demo of V2 over 4 months ago. At that time the thinking was we were weeks away.

If you read back through the thread, you will see the explanation.

  • So, I know Loopy Pro has been out for a while now, I have been humming and harring, if I should dive in. having looked at vids, I must say the UI looks incredible, dare i say very attractive. For me I guess i am waiting for the ability to record and edit midi in the clips. One last point I want to say is, I find the yearly fee for updates of £12 extremely fair. Everyone has to make a living, I couldn't see me begrudging this. So all speed to the dev for the midi upgrade :-)

I bought this last month with the hope of getting the midi update before the yearly cut-off, so fingers crossed :D ;)

There is no such yearly cut-off!

Each buyer has his personal year, starting from the day he bought.

    There is no yearly fee!

Buy it once for what it offers at that moment, get all new features of the next year and otherwise get any and all updates, security fixes and changes for new iOS version for free - for the rest of your life, without ever paying anything again!

ONLY when there is a new feature that you would like to use, you may opt to pay for a new update (and a whole year of more new features).

People often don't seem to understand this perfect solution, which is very similar to desktop software licenses.

  • I wonder - once again - how perfect this solution is from dev perspective.
It was supposed to ease the pressure during development while steady the income - don’t think it’s working, but we’ll see.

I don't think that easing the pressure was ever the goal.

Steadying the income only works if the pressure to keep the new features coming stays on.

The primary reason for the model was to provide income when adding significant features . This model allows Michael to maintaining continuity of the app so that you get bug fixes even if you don’t purchase new features—unlike those apps that create a new generation of the app (like Cubasis or Wotja) for big changes. It also avoids having to have a zillion separate IAPs.

This model provides incentive for the developer to add value to the software over time.

I don’t know how anyone but Michael (who knows his revenue, costs and time outlays) could judge whether the model is working. He will have a much better idea after 2.0 drops.

  • Came here to see why there hadn’t been any updates for a while.

Really appreciate the openness, and looking forward to v2, at which point I’ll renew. Still think LP and Mela have the best approach in motivating continued revenue by optionally charging for new features.

In the meantime, I can report that the poster from The Monkey works really well as a background in Koala.
