Hasn’t Marek mentioned wanting to keep Koala a low price for more people to access it? He’s never changed his pricing to suggest he’s changed his stance on that. I doubt this one just based on that.

I was making a joke about the name.

I don't think it will be a sub.

What about deeper integration with the SP404 maybe ? Or perhaps some other piece of hardware ?

    Or software..

I am hoping it might be integration with the Roland P-6… 🤞

That would be good too !

    Apologies! That’s my bad.

  • A synth would be cool but I don’t think koala was designed for that. But I’m more looking forward to a global play stop button. A man can dream right lol also linking a pad to another pad would be cool especially for midi now and a regular mixer and effects for individual pads. And a song pattern timeline like beathawk :)

What ever it is I would def upgrade and be happy!

  • My fomo senses are tingling...

Do I need to buy Samurai before Friday to get Quokka free?

Fairly sure it will be free for all Samurai users indefinitely, so no.

Facts about global stop. I feel like theres a way to stop oneshots I'm spacing on.

Damn I appreciate the restraint on not having it but it's a killer update. Not as monumental as the mix buses but it's worthwhile even without whatever this update is.

The only thing that has held me back (besides it never hooking me with a dastardly sale!) is not knowing if the mobile piano roll is any less janky on iPhone as all the other ones I have.

I rather like the piano roll! It might be my favorite on iPadOS. Granted I've only used Koala, Drambo, and LK. I know Atom 2 gets a heap of praise here but I didn't get it as it's not been updated for a while and LK was my first intro to Piano Roll as it was what got me into Ableton, so I never saw the need.

The video on their youtube explaining gave a couple quick tips and theres been an update or two to it. It's well thought out In my opinion.

I just opened up the Piano Roll on my iPhone 14 and I think it's pretty slick! Small but yanno screen real estate is what it is

  • Samurai update is a must have! If you use koala the samurai only makes it better

  • Looking forward to tomorrow

  • I think…
This is all speculation cuz I don’t have a clue.

Since it’s free for samurai users, and samurai was all about sample manipulation…maybe this is something about slices, small slices, almost like grains…hmmm…and the new direction thing could apply to this?

I don’t see the point in a synth, but it could be a synth…I wouldn’t cry over it good add!

I feel that’s it’s not new effects …I’d like more effects though!

The sequencer is cool enough for now…more probability and sequencer madness stuff would be great…

Audio tracks would be complimentary for those who exclusively use koala and wanna do vocals…there are already workarounds.

I definitely don’t think it’s hosting plugs…because that would boff up android/iOS compatibility equality too much.

Marek is gonna do good things, because he always does…so I expect it will be a great addition to an already great and valuable app!

  • I feel like “grains” or a granular synth seems just a little bit too niche. Personally I’d expect a traditional “synth” before a granular

Did y'all know you can make a synth in Koala using single cycle waveforms or very small slices of other waves?
    It's pretty fun.

I knew this. To be honest, I'm hoping for automation of some sort. 😅 Quokkas are communicative animals, so it's like how a MIDI CC signal communicates with a knob or slider.

Yea! in one of the Elf Audio videos Marek shows this off and it’s mind blowing. I think it’s the 5 tips tricks but honestly I can’t recall!

There’s several cool tricks he mentions in those tutorials on their YouTube channel that are not the main topic and are super helpful. He lowkey effortlessly shows off how intuitive Koala is, how musical his brain can be, and how he just side steps pretty dope functions as no big deal.

Imagine saying this to a Quokka.
You’d melt their little marsupial brain. 😂

  • Where's the update? 🥲

Not available until 11pm (UK time…it’s currently 10.45am) if all goes to Marek’s plan, which in itself would be remarkable if he successfully gets Apple and Google to release the update at a specific time.

  • I've got it...

"Quokkas rear their young in pouches. When stressed, a female may expel a joey from her pouch. The joey then squirms on the ground and hisses. This may distract predators and allow the mom to escape — without the joey in tow."

So quokkas sacrifice their young to predators. Marek is going to sacrifice his young - us, to predators (or a predatory commercial system) - the subscription service. Its right there sheeple!!

    OMG THIS ^^^

When you think about it hard, and then stop thinking about it, and then come back to it, but then forget about it entirely, AND THEN the 1% of information we actually know creeps back in... it makes total sense.

Thanks for pulling the wool away from my eyes.

I'm gonna buy Koala again on a second account so i have twice the right to complain.

(in all honesty though that is ABSOLUTELY WILD information about Quokkas. I guess maybe the instinct is to save the mother who could bear more children?)

  • WAIT!

Surely the Quokka mothers must feel some regret by throwing away their young...

The Quokka update has to be A GLOBAL UNDO BUTTON!!!

  • This escalated quickly
