I’m genuinely fascinated by Audiobus Pty Ltd…who are they, where are getting their business ideas from? A subscription for rompler synths? Surely no one is going to subscribe, are they, why would they? Not to mention the completely unnecessary tracking added. Is there method behind the apparent madness? I’d love to know.
I think schools and educators would be one source of income and they'd be able to budget for these subscriptions.
Agree. Most of us don't like subs. I also avoid apps with subs. For this reason I stopped using AUXY Studio years ago - I regret it a lot, but just NO for subscriptions. Maybe one day I'll break, but for now I'm tough
Thank you too @Poppadocrock however greetings should go to @mikejohn <- we greet you warmly

Hi. Just so you know, "Pty" doesn't stand for "Party", though it might be fun. It's "Proprietary Limited", an Australian form of the American LLP, pretty boring, really.
Really? Those particular apps? Seems wildly unlikely to me. There are far more beneficial apps for educational needs surely? Are schools and educators somehow blind to subscriptions which offer next to no value for money?
But maybe you’re right? As i said, I’m genuinely fascinated by these decisions which seem incomprehensible to me.
Thanks for clarifying @uncledave
Graphics
Spectrum - Color Detector is free usually $4.99
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spectrum-color-detector/id6741385583
Certainly schools and educational facilities would be big customers. And with subscriptions, those can be "right-sized" for the number of students at that time, that way there are no wasted licenses. Don’t underestimate the size of that market.
I've worked with schools for many years and I agree, it is highly unlikely they would subscribe to a single iOS synth like this. Why would they when there are free apps and webapps that serve the same educational purpose? What they do tend to subscribe to are the more complete platforms like Apple Logic/Final Cup Pro EDU package, or Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
I am completely bemused by Audiobus Pty moves as well.
No! Please do worry! Bought retro piano fair and square back in the day. Against my better judgment I installed the app again cause I was curious about this claim.
I can see it as an auv3 but with an “intersting” developer name:
Then this is what happens. Stuff locked like I have the free version only:
If I click restore purchases, it says “no purchases to restore”.
Audiobus pty can get fucked. I will also not spend a single dime ever again on the “good” audiobus apps, or any of Micheals stuff, since they saw fit to transfer their apps to such an amazing and reputable company and there is nothing we can do about it.
Dear @AMBello,
Sorry, I was influenced by another post that said the app opens, but I didn't go into details. I will use your second screenshot and I'll send an e-mail to the new developer right now asking for clarification on this issue for users who previously paid for this app. I'm very sorry for misleading you
If the developer replies that it's not a bug and they're not going to fix, but a subscription is required to unlock the features, I will give you (send) another music app at a similar price as an apology.
Please @dakti don't apologise to me. I have nothing against you and think you are acting in good faith. The developer did post to the same effect in another thread.
However the truth is that it seems that Audiobus pty words have more or less the same value as bovine excrement on the sidewalk. I will not bother with contacting them, because the last thing I want them to have is my email. Audiokit apps (all of them) are dead to me now.
Edit- All 4 IAPs on Mela 6.1 are 50% off
A couple miscellaneous free IAPs
@AMBello thank you for your understanding, nevertheless I still feel bad about it. I have learned to be sure of what I write if it has a real effect on members.
I sent an email to Audiobus support a moment ago and a message with identical content in this thread. As soon as Audiobus responds, I'll let you know. From what Audiobus written in this thread so far, they declare that they're fixing the app according to reports from users.
I just opened VHS Synth on iPhone and I believe it’s the latest version as there are no updates available. Seems to be the fully functional version. Haven’t tried iPad yet.
Thank you @Cambler for the info, good to know. I hope that on the iPad it also works correctly and fully without subscription. I really like this app.
Same! fingerlab is such a great team, it's. Great drum machine, great samples, and is just a pleasure to work with standalone or along with my other shit. we have a lot of choices when it comes to drums, but DM1, DM10, funk kit are just fun! The dude at Fingerlab is a Heck of a fella too. super cool
Are you able to open Retro Piano app in any hosts? It doesn’t show up for me in the AU list or when I type the name in the search box in AUM or Loopy Pro, even though the app is on my phone ..
Just tested VHS Synth on iPad and all works fine. Loaded into Cubasis to make sure there were no issues running as an auv3.
Sorry @mikejohn i don’t own retro piano.
Same for me. Retro Piano runs fine stand-alone, all features unlocked. But it does not appear as an AUv3. Now I have version 1.4, and 1.5 is available; maybe it fixes all, or completes the lockdown of advanced features.
Just opened it no problem in AUM..... (1.5)
Ok .. just checked again and Retro Piano 1.5 is opening for me in AUM and Loopy Pro now .. Can only access ‘Bank A’ presets when hosted as AU; all other preset banks are locked (but I can still get to those other presets through AUM and LP’s preset manager).
Similar for me. @Audiobus_support can you please do something?
