Edit: pretty cool synth with a huge amount of presets and wave tables and even midi files (6Gb which you can install on an external drive). The installation required some very dubious steps changing websites (you do get warned) whatnot, and I was very frustrated at a point. Thought you should know that although it worked out fine in the end.

Thanks for the info, I usually buy direct as they offer a 'for you' additional update offer. I had a look at Best Service but they seem to be charging over $200 - mayber there's an upgrade option?
I'm going to pull the trigger this morning, it's over 8 years since my last NI purchase, so I'm due an upgrade and most looking forward to getting:
Kontakt 8, Playbox, Massive X, Super 8, TRK-01, Session Percussionist and Guitar Rig 7 Pro (the current version I have only runs in Rosetta mode). A few extras such as Scarbee Rickenbacker Bass, Middle East, Ethereal Earth, Nacht and Conflux are nice extras too.
Even at the NI discount, that just works out at around 7 quid each, so difficult to resist at that price! I realise a lot of their products are now beefed-up sample players, but there's a ton of useful content in there that I can use with other iOS and desktop apps, plus I've got an NI keyboard and Maschine MK3 gathering dust.
8 years that’s certainly going to get you a very good deal for the products introduced in that time frame, I think the difference is an update is a version number update and upgrade allows you to go from standard, ultimate and collectors and so on. But thanks again for the reminder, the summer of sound offer is usually the best time to update/upgrade.
Ah yes - update's what I'm doing! I'd be tempted by the Ultimate collection if the upgrade was closer to the update deal, but too pricey for me unfortunately.
Impressed how easy it is to upgrade - paid, and bingo everything's there when I launch Native Access. Just had a quick play with Guitar Rig 7 and very impressed testing it on a drum track - it's almost worth the upgrade cost just for that!

there's a lot of irritating bloatware to get this little 77mb plug-in but you can delete UA Connect and its tendrils after installing.
i'm on a mac and i've stripped out everything except for the AU component, the VST3 and the \Library\Application Support\Universal Audio\Plug-Ins\uaudio_polymax.lunacomponent folder.
In fact, many of their desktop plugins are heavily marked down right now on Plugin Boutique.
Try installing it on Mac. Their UA Connect app won't open on a M4, so every time I buy one of their products the only solution is to completely uninstall it and then reinstall everything again.

tbh, the "helper application" approach to protecting ip feels like unnecessary friction when so many other companies will email a code, for instance, when you're on their books (u-he, FabFilter, TAL etc.).
i could live without the hoopla here (is ilok not enough?), but polymax is worth the harrumph imo.
