Anyone where the patterns/song are saved? I picked icloud drive from the iPadOS app setting but nothing there. Rendered audio is being saved locally and can be found on the File app.

Essentially, I need to know how to share works on multiple iPads and how I can backup and transfer my GR2 projects.

There is a share pattern and bank option

Thanks! Then what is being stored on iCloud if the option is enabled?

There's no setting for that in the app, so I guess you mean in iOS Settings > Groove Rider 2 > Document Storage?

That's only granting permission to store documents in iCloud. It isn't a setting that causes that to happen in the app. The developer has to enable the the app to use it. If you note up-top on that screen it says "Allow Groove Rider 2 to Access...".

    I know, it's confusing.

Thanks I got it now. Hope in future GR2 will allow co-location(local and iCloud) of selected projects so multiple devices can access the selected projects.

  • Am I wrong in thinking that you can't print to midi in the timeline? Seems this should be implemented if so as if you're working in Song mode it seems an unnecessary step to have to go to or create a clip to print midi.

Midi only prints to session clips

Is email the best way to provide feedback. I sent a previous suggestion about the ability to reverse midi notes but never got a reply.

    I think so, yes.

  • Quick question. Is it possible to record not just midi but audio clips from external hardware? I can’t find reference to this feature either in the app description or in the tutorial videos on youtube.
Apologize if it was mentioned already, I haven’t been following this thread so far and way too many comments to read them all.

  • GR2 should get auto save enabler feature (?)

Has been passed onto Sir Jim and acknowledged so hopefully this will be implemented.

Hi all, apologies if this has been answered already but is the sampler capable of sampling an external source that's on the ipad? For example could I sample from the YouTube or Spotify apps or would need to plug in a separate source into the iPad?

Just checking whether I'll need to use something like Koala instead.

    Thanks

  • Anyone else get a headache from the Sound page select button? That double sine wave messes with my eyes.

  • I just tried recording MPE but no, not even pitch bending from MPE Auv3 was being recorded.

You need to connect an audio interface to iPad.
Go to Settings Menu > Audio > Audio Source (select audio interface) and enable Audio Input.
Then add a sampler - click Edit - Create empty sample.
Select Audio Input (for IN - below record button)
    Record.
I think you can record up to 5 minuted in one go.

    Not directly.
Use Koala if that works for you, then export the sample to GR2
Or use Wavebox app to record audio (my favourite way).

  • So it’s almost a DAW : if you can record a sample of 5 minutes from an interface , that is an audio track

I mean he calls it a DAWanyway, maybe there’s room for expansion

Thanks! However what I was really wondering is whether I can record a bass line or a chord progression from my hardware synths directly into a clip while other clips (parts) are being played simultaneously. Like in Loopy Pro.

Using screen record - it records a video and you have to extract the audio (koala does this for you)
    Wavebox just records audio.

I like Wavebox because it doesn't clutter up my photos folder with videos. Plus you can trim & edit the audio before exporting.

But ultimately they both can achieve the same thing.

The clips record midi data. So it's the midi notes that trigger the sampler/samples.

You can record audio while other parts are being played (pretty sure - but someone can correct me if I'm wrong) .
However the sample may need to be trimmed, then triggered using a Midi note recorded in a clip.

Not a hard process, but takes a couple of steps.

What would be great is if the audio recording didn't start until it got a signal, that way the start of the sample would always be on the first note. When I've made recordings, it starts recording the second I press record, so I have to trim to the beginning of the audio signal.

What would be even better would be the ability to record takes, that were fixed to the loop length. (unless someone knows a way to achieve this)

Ok, that’s clear, so clips can not record audio, but midi data only. I can trigger only a sample by a midi note.

Is there a way to quickly switch between selection and pencil tool? Or selecting a note while using the pencil tool? Or something like this?

    No

Okay thanks, I'll get used to it!

Also, is it possible to stop the sound preview when adding or selecting notes in the piano roll?

  • Has anyone tried integrating Lumbeat drummers in GR? Does it handle IAA, and if so what needs to be done to set it up?

    There’s no IAA hosting.

The closest you can get is to run GR2 as an IAA in a host such as Loopy Pro or AUM, alongside the Lumbeats apps also in the host. There won’t be any state saving though, so it’ll need to be set up each time.

There’s a way to use the “Loopback” plugin from the KQ Voice suite to get output from the Lumbeats apps into GR2 for sampling. But by the time you go to all that trouble it’s probably easier to just export from the drummer app and import into the sampler.
