I got Helium working inside GR2. Pretty simple to start. I got MIDI print working after this but I can’t exactly remember the order of operations to get there and didn’t get a chance to record. Need to figure out syncing with host as well, which seemed wonky when I attempted. If anyone knows off the top of their head how to address these and can chime in that would be great.
Just to to the clips screen, long hold an empty space and select print midi
Edit: sync to host sorry, I have no idea how helium does that, you can always record a longer clip and then sync it?
GR-16 paired very well with Xequence 2. Its possible GR2 will work just as well. I'll work with it some today and report back.
Strummer is well worth it if you ever try to sequence guitar parts, though I find the interface kind of clunky. I can't speak to midi mixer. I'd never have a use for it.
I should say that I don't have Helium and haven't tried it in GR2. I'm reasonably sure I read up-thread that it works though.
[edit] oops. I see you're already working with Helium.
Does anyone find they use 16 drum tracks ?
What do you mean? 16 tracks each with a single drum sound, or 16 drum rack tracks, each with 16 drum sounds?
16 tracks with a single sound.
Then, for me the answer is no. I don't see GR2's strength as being solely a drum sequencer. It's not an AUv3 plugin, so you only get to use one instance of it. I don't see the value in taking up all 16 tracks just to put up some drums. If I want a drum module then I'd use an AUv3 instance of Drambo.
I don't see any advantage of using GR-2 that way. Drum racks parts do the same thing as "wasting" 16 tracks to sequence some drums.
I were just asking because im actually building a 16 sampler drambo drum.
Thanks though.
Still haven't figured out whats wrong with Harmony Bloom... Here's a short video of it. If someone could point out what could be wrong?

I've done a bit of testing. The results aren't what I hoped.
You can definitely use Xequence 2 to "Play" GR2, but the utility largely stops there. GR-16 can follow Xequence 2's timeline and can start and stop from Xequence 2's transport. GR2 can't. That means, while you could capture Xequence 2 output to the song mode timeline in GR2, you'd have to trim and position the clips each time. GR-16 has midi out, so you can sequence in GR-16, then record to Xequence 2 for further refinement and song arranging. GR2 doesn't have midi out, so that can't happen either.
So, if you want to do all sequencing from Xequence 2 and just use GR2 as 16 channel sound module, then it works fine. If you want further integration, it's very limited.
Every time I open up Xequence 2 I'm struck again at how elegant it is. I rarely do because of the inconvenience of integrating it with other app workflow, but it sure is a beautiful piece of work.
Would appreciate an option to either load my last Pattern or load a Pattern of choice eg. My INIT on app start up, as an alternative to how it works now. Anyone else support this?
If I unlink HBs tempo and put it to 110 while GR2 is at 120, then they seem almost in sync (it gets audibly out of sync after 16 bars or so).
Probably doesn't work well with the sample rate. Scaler 2 has the same problem.
+1
Ah okay! Is there something I can do to paliate? Or should I report this to Jim or Mario?
Unless you can change the sample rate (perhaps by using an external interface) there's nothing that can be done. IMO it's something that should be fixed in the plugin, but some hosts may have implemented a workaround. I don't think it's a Jim thing.
If I was going to report it to the plugin developer, I'd try to see if the same happens in another host. Otherwise it's easy to think it's just a GR2 problem (which it still could be).
I often use HB in Loopy Pro successfully! Is this what you mean by trying it in another host?
What I meant was try to find another host where the timing drifts. That's interesting that it doesn't drift in Loopy Pro. Could be that it's not sample rate related, or maybe that Loopy handles things in a different way, or ... who knows?
Ahh gotcha! Thanks @wim !
I will probably just email both developers. I guess the least I can do is getting them aware of this. Then, I think it's up to them to see if there is a viable solution.
If it is the same relationship as 48 to 44.1 then 110 would work out to 119.7278….
Hey, you’re right btw. HB does the same thing here in GR2; doesn’t even make through the first loop in time. I didn’t notice until you pointed it out.
I just got done testing HB in AUM, Loopy Pro, and Drambo for this, and all three work fine.
GR2 is the only host that exhibits this problem.
That's a nice piece of info! Nice catch!
Thanks for validating, I was second guessing myself hehe. I have written to the developers. I hope there will be a viable solution!!
So i stopped keeping up at page 23 of this thread cause I’m either using GRii or watching SFM on GR2.
Has there been any mention of some crackling when the sampler is playing back?
It even happens during quiet parts. It’s not exclusive to one sample source. I tried switching from 256 to 1024 and restarted the app, but still there. I disabled warp too.
2024 11” Air M2
No, there hasn't been mention that I can recall.
Just wondering if he’s added the P-Locks yet? I sent an email but didn’t get a response from him…I imagine he’s getting lots of emails and it’s probably overwhelming. So I figured I’d ask again here.
I experienced cracking when playing lot of notes with one sampler, weird. It went away when changing the buffer
What does the cpu meter say? Had cpu overload with two tracks of mariana.
I was actually noticing some crackling with certain Soundfonts and samples that I originally thought was just the sample or Soundfont itself.
It wasn’t until I started messing around with AUM yesterday (which was rare, as I haven’t started AUM in months!) and started going through some older projects, when I noticed a lot of crackling there, which wasn’t the case when I created those older projects.
So I then took a look at my audio settings in AUM and noticed my buffer size stuck at only 160 samples. Weird right? Of course I made sure any and all apps were closed, and then went through all of my host apps and made sure “background audio” was turned off in all of them.
Then restarted my iPad and started AUM. Nothing. Still stuck at 160 with the message “this cannot be changed as another application may be using etc”
So then I had to do some searching. I discovered a post about “Apple Intelligence” having some sort of bug in iPadOS 18.3.1 in the way that Siri works with audio (I assume the listening part but idrk).
Anyway, Siri is now part of Apple Intelligence, so in order to turn off Siri, I had to turn off Apple Intelligence. 🤷🏻♂️ So I turned it off and alls well in Smallsville. No more crackling in AUM! (Tho I still need to go find those Soundfonts and samples I was hearing crackling in in GR2 to confirm)
In Clips mode, no Song in timeline, just multiple Parts in multiple Scenes. If you go to Settings Menu > Export and select ‘Render Pattern to Audio File’ my expectation is the whole Pattern (Project) would render to audio file but actually only the currently selected Scene does. Am I missing something?
