  • GR2 continues to impress. I’ve got a Roland 707 Groovebox that I’ve packed away because this is so much easier to use. 100% amaze balls.

so, GR2 became my most expensive piece of software for now – because version 1.1.0 made me order Launchpad Pro :D

    Haha nice one!

I had a LP Pro that I had up for sale and decided not to sell it after the GR integration came out. There's lots to love about it. It's done really well for the most part. The sequencer and perform pages are particularly good and the clip view works as expected.

I've never been a fan of the way the LP handles faders. It's not accurate enough for me and this reduces the effectiveness of the mixer mode. Always hard without knobs. I'm hoping for the ability to add an additional controller to the LP Pro so I can have some actual knobs.

Also, hoping device control (sound page) will be added into the LP Pro at some point with the blue box and some effective way to control parameters.

In chord mode the 16 pads on the LP seem to trigger notes instead of the chords as shown on the pads.

Also, make sure to set your custom text screen saver in Settings / Midi / Screen Save Text !!!

When you create a sample from a Part or Master and press SAVE…where is that sample saved?

That button only saves it in the Sampler. Press Share to save it to files or do other things with it.

Yet it’s not available to Load in another project? You have to then copy the file into the Samples folder yourself. I understood Share for bouncing, that’s fine, but not saving to a Samples folder for possible recall in another project makes no sense to me.

Yes, there is a samples folder that you can choose to put it in. On My / Groove Rider 2 / Samples / Export. Or put it anywhere its convenient for you to share with other projects. I'd use On My / Groove Rider 2 / Samples, where all the rest of the samples in the sample browser are. Or in sub folders below that for better organization.

I'm really not understanding what your complaint is. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s an observation not a complaint - Save doesn’t allow you to save the file to a folder. In every other piece of software Save allows you to save the file to any folder you want to. In this one it’s Share. It is what it is. Thanks.

clip view is critical for me because the whole point is triggering clips in live situation.

I've never been a fan of the way the LP handles faders. It's not accurate enough for me and this reduces the effectiveness of the mixer mode. Always hard without knobs. I'm hoping for the ability to add an additional controller to the LP Pro so I can have some actual knobs.

i have Circuit Tracks for knobs.
anyway, LP faders are OK for muting/unmuting stuff (non-abrupt way because ocasional misses are inevitable, so any fader is better than on/off knob).

Also, hoping device control (sound page) will be added into the LP Pro at some point with the blue box and some effective way to control parameters.

yeah, that would be cool – but again, 8 knobs of Circuit Tracks is enough in live situation, especially if you're used to Circuit workflow.

In chord mode the 16 pads on the LP seem to trigger notes instead of the chords as shown on the pads.

Also, make sure to set your custom text screen saver in Settings / Midi / Screen Save Text !!!

Have you tried saving the Layer or Part as a preset? I think that might allow you to recall in another project without saving to your Samples folder first. I haven’t tried it myself yet.

yeah that works, the sad part is that you can't share those presets

Kinda feels like that should be automatic for the sampler and saved to the project with the main Save button, but lots of quirky decisions in this app.

if you make a preset of something, like a layer or synth, there is no way to export and share those presets.

  • What
    Wait a second

Are you telling me there’s a MIDI controller made to work perfectly integrated with gr2

    Which exactly is it?

  • What difference between launchpad pro mk2 and 3

By "share" I assume you mean, share to other devices or to other people?
Because, you can share presets between patterns on the same device.

If so, that's probably just not a feature implemented as of yet. I'd fully expect that to come at some time, especially if anyone takes the time to email the developer to ask for it.

  • Hmm would you get the mk2 for $50 or mk3 for &$150?

With sharing I mean saving those presets to a file to keep, or use in another device, or pass to other people

yep – but at the moment such integration exists only for LP Pro Mk3, that's why i ordered it.
other Launchpads are not supported yet.

I really am on the fence now. I mean on one hand GR2 is my favorite groovebox, and I use it almost everyday and make more music on it than anything else besides my op1. I wouldn’t mind having something like a perfectly synchronized controller because if Jim did that that means it really works well. It’s just , is $150 worth spending for a controller for a groovebox - I looked all over for features supported but I can’t find any literature on it.? I mean that’s something I’ll have to decide but would you get it for $150?

well, it's up to you and depends on your priorities.
TBH i ordered my new shiny LP Pro Mk3 mainly for using with GR2 – because tactile controls make the workflow significantly faster and more eye-friendly.
not that i really have lots of free money – but for me money is lesser issue than spare time that i must manage meticulously.

also, LP Pro Mk3 is a full-blown 4-track sequencer that is nice to have in hardware-only setups – so for me it's definitely worth it.

  • That’s why I wana know more about the feature list but I can’t find it

  • Nvm I found it in App Store update

  • Am I going mad or is there no reverb in the insert fx? 7 phasers and no reverb seems an odd choice.
